Hi Denise, First of all, welcome to the team and to Spark. Know that you CAN succeed and you CAN become motivated. It is a decision you have to make. Then you can start with baby steps. I agree, start drinking 6 to 8 cups of water a day. It can be crystal light, water with lemon in it, flavored waters with 0 calories...It will flush out the excess water from your system to get you started. Drink instead of eating. You may be thirsty. Keep water next to you at all times and sip away. I like a goal of i cup of water an hour of an hour and a half. It helps fill me up. Start tracking your meals on the spark tracker to see how much you really are eating and follow their calorie guide. You can start over any time..yes, with tonight's meal even. Tracking what you eat is the key to learning about portion control. Snack on raw vegetables. Keep them handy in your refrigerator.

For motivation, read my Devotions for Dieters thread. That has helped others stay motivated as well.

Above all, Stick with it and keep writing here on Spark. Start a blog on your spark page. You will be encouraged by so may sparkers who have been where you are or are where you are now. You are worth it because you are special. You deserve to be fit and healthy. You are never alone. emoticon

Motivation to start again. Girl, you have to believe. Believe in yourself. If you have even lost one pound before, you can do it again. Remember the positive feelings and remember the positive thoughts, put those on the fridge. If you drink water, instead of soda put a star up there...!!!!


You have to get up and try, we are all here with you. Youare not alone. God does not make mistakes. God does not make junk. You are special. You are learning. Baby steps, is how we ALLL did it. You do that too!!! Try just a little more water, for the first week...Substitute the water, instead of sugary juices or soda, elminating slowly the sugar out of your system, is a good first step. These "adjustments" must be made slowly, mentally and emotionally and physically, you have to make gradual changes. It is how I did it. Water was the first step. It is paramount in losing fat. Fat holds all the toxins, in your body, it is the safety control the body has, when there is bad things swimming around in there. So, when you lose fat, the water is there, to make sure the toxins leave and not mess up the liver...That is step one. You can do this, you are not alone. You are worth it....do not give up...Do the water....and then we will discuss part two in 2 weeks, which is walking around the block. Simple..is sounds but very important and basic to losing weight.

How do you just get the motivation to start again. I can't even seem to get that. you start, fail again, hate yourself for not being strong. Viscious cycle, how do you end this??

hi denise my name is Lena I too have several problems with eating, mostly at night. I sit and watch tv at night with a box of cereal with yogurt rasinis in the box plus slivered almonds. then after that I see what else I can eat. SO I know what your going through. I love ice cream too. I have been wanting to lose weight for a year now and can't.

Hi..you have come to a place where you can get help with food and emotional support. We all have reasons that we eat, reasons we eat too much, and resons that we eat the wrong foods. It is not always the stuff in our heads that bother us, it is also the food additives in the "bad' foods, that tell our brains to eat "more". I was at 200 pounds and craving chocolate, sugar and white bread, now of course it is different, my only problem is coffee... You need to calm down and drink water inbetween the food, and relax. Whatever is bothering you will pass. Try to write down the foods that bother you, keep them in a "bad" cabinet, and then keep a "good" cabinet with wholesome foods, and substitue, one food at a time, until you can wean yourself off the "crazy" foods. Sugar was so bad for me, it made my legs weak and I could not walk. Just type here any time, there is usually someone here to listen to you.

Hi everyone, just joined. I need help desperately..I cannot stop eating. I have gained like 10 lbs in the last few weeks. I don't only eat until I'm stuffed, the minute I feel the least bit not full I eat until I can't breather again. I don't know what's wrong with me. I can't get back on a diet...I've started and that very day i'll get off of it. I've never been like this before. I'm so mad at myself because I feel so bad..can't breathe well, my clothes are so tight, I don't want anyone to even look at me I'm so gross. I know part of my eating is that this Friday will be 4 years to the day my mom died and its been really hard and still is sometimes. But those days just make you really anxious because you know their coming and you dread it. I feel like I could jump out of my skin. These last four years have been a roller coaster of eating and spending, yes I picked up another addiction along the way. Please can someone just tell me how to stop this and get started again. I think everyday I'm going to do all these things and morning comes and I just start eating. I'm so full right now, I'm sick, but if I could find something else I would go eat it. My BP is high, I'm developing arthritis, depression...several health problemss that's not good. I want to like myself again, but can't seem to find that person anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions. I just need help!!
