It is with a heavy heart that I write to tell you we had our 21 year old cat, Tiger, put to sleep yesterday, Maundy Thursday at 3:30 pm. That is Tiger's picture as my profile picture.
In February he became very ill with kidney failure..the symptoms of walking in circles, losing his balance, and not eating much. We expected to lose him that month. Well, after about a week he seemed to improve. He had no trouble jumping onto the futon, onto the computer and then to my desk to lay next to my keyboard. whenever I was at the computer. He did fine until Wednesday night. He went out as usual around 10 pm, and I called for him around 11 pm. As I watched him come across the yard I could see he was in trouble. I picked him up and brought him into the house. When I picked him up he cried out in pain. When I put him down on the floor, he crouched and didn't lay down. He couldn't walk. I laid him on the floor on a towel because I didn't want him up on something for fear of him falling. He would cry out when he went to change positions. His eyes had that blank stare...pleading for help. It was them I made the decision to call the vet in the morning.
We went on our journey at 2 pm and our appointment was at 2:30. As it turned out, Dr. Jean was behind schedule, so I had some extra time with him. I stayed with him and stroked him and talked to him as they gave him the medicine, and he went to sleep. They then gave him the second injection, and then it was over. Tiger had gone over the Rainbow Bridge. We came back home and buried him around where Taffy who was 22 and Sandy who was about 5 years old are buried. When I was walking toward the back door, our white feral kitty, Snowball, showed up to eat. Now he never shows up before 5 pm to eat. I don't believe that was a coincidence. My 4 year old kitty, Thor, was looking for him. They had become friendly with one another.
I know I will see Tiger, Taffy, Sandy, Tyke (from many years ago) as well as my kitty Midnight who I had growing up, again when I get to heaven. My ministers have said animals have souls and they do go to heaven and they have scripture to back this up. I have always believed that, so it gives me great comfort to know that they all will be watching for me at the Rainbow Bridge when my time comes, and we will be united for Eternity.
Rest in Peace Tiger.

" My goal is to live the truly religious life, and express it in my music. If you live it, when you play, there's no problem because the music is part of the whole thing. To be a musician is really something. It goes very, very deep. My music is the spiritual expression of what I am--my faith, my knowledge, my being." by John Coltrane
