So yesterday I spent time in the sewing room as usual. Today I will return. I ordered a fat quarter bundle of Australian Aborigine Fabrics and thkey came and I love them! I have a fat quarter bag pattern that I plan to make today using one of the fabrics and a linen green upholstery weight leftover from a job that I did. The greens are a bit off but that is what makes it special! I am going to add a thin accent row of orange! Can't wait to get started. I spend a lot of time searching for free patterns on the internet. There are many out there, just got some from Moda. Carol

In my part of the world anything with the University of Kentucky does well. The only purses or totes that I've made however, have been corcheted

So I have this good friend who is a beautiful black woman and she loves authemtic African fabrics and wears clothing made from them. I made her a bag and she bought one that was made from Mud cloth. So today I ordered a fat quarter bundle of Australian Fabrics from Heartsong Quilts. I hope they will do as I want to make bags for her to sell at her family reunion! Does anyone have a source for african fabrics, authentic ones? Carol

I live in Nebraska and anything I make with the HUSKERS fabric does well at our Church Bazaars. I have a dear friend with a professional embroidery machine who is so much help is my planning. I am now working on a pie plate center piece for tables, it is called "Table Scraps" and I adjust the size using my increase on the printer. It has been allot of fun. The fabric I am using now is Americana, a neighbor requested this for her Sister.

I will be venturing out and making little purses for the flower girls. We found some we liked but they were almost $40. I said I could make them for alot cheaper. So that is what we are doing. They will be made out of tartan and the material used in their dresses.

I don't make purses/bags, but if I had the time I'd like to. You're right about all the info available online - the quilting world is enormous out there!

I continue to call myself a seamstress because that is what I believe I am. I've been sewing tote bags like crazy lately and keep searching for free patterns so if any of you know about some free ones, let me know. Gets expensive. I've been really stressed lately and so yesterday I went to the sewing lounge at the local fabric store. Just what I needed. I'm doing the Ripples and Reflections BOM and I must be crazy because every piece is a triangle or tiny square. I left block 2 at home so worked on cutting all the triangles for block 3. At least that got me off of tote bags for a minute. I've got to start selling some of these bags and posting on Etsy is a real challenge for me. Maybe I'll try one today. I've been following Purse Palooza 2012 on www.sewsweetness.com That has been fun and I've learned a lot! There is a wealth of information on the internet nowadays and I'm soaking it up! Later.
