I too, have fallen in the "lab trap". My boyfriend and I got our first child in October, and happened to get another one in June (he's a mix lab and golden retriever). They're such smart dogs and you can't beat their personalities. My sister also loves labs and got a lab (and maybe 1/4 of something else) from the humane society. My mom always wants "the grandkids" over.
Welcome Rebecca. We love our labs as much as you love yours and we never tire of chatting about our 4-legged children. Our labs are not dogs.
We have had a black lab, now have a yellow lab, and dh claims when Toby goes to doggie heaven, we will not have another. I say we will and he will be chocolate. Our black, Rambo, was so good, gentle with first granddaughters (premie twins born the same year), and watched out for the first 5 granddaughters, before he died (heart attack). We got Toby when last grand just was 1 yr old and he has been good with her.
Need I say more. Labs are definitely wonderful. So glad you joined us.
Trust God, believe in yourself, and keep looking forward. You can't change the past. You are always special.
Hey Becca - What a sweet story about your Dawson. Boy did he ever pick the right yard to wander into. Doesn't it make you sick that people can be so cruel to innocent creatures. Ugh!!! But he's having a great life, so all's well that ends well. I'll bet he loves his sister. And it's so cool that you plan to complete your set with a yellow lab someday.
Like you, I never get tired of talking about my critters. What's not to love? Glad to have you with us.

My name is Rebecca and I am in love with my Labs. I've people say I've fallen into the Lab trap and if that is true then I am so happy to be there. lol I have loved dogs my whole life and we always had German Shepards as a kid. Then, I got married and we went through our share of different dog breeds. It wasn't till one morning about 4 1/2 years ago that Dawson found us......he is a black Lab...he wandered into our yard......he was about 8 weeks old and had been abused and neglected. My heart melted. That dog has become so special to me. I have never known such a sweet, affectionate, and smart dog. His personality is amazing. i knew that was it for me and I would only have Labs the rest of my life. His little sister Tess is our chocolate Lab and the baby of our family. She is 17 months old and she is full of energy.....we got her from my sister-in-law at 6 weeks old and she makes me laugh so much!! Dawson has always been mellow, but Tess is a bundle of energy. I am hoping when Tess is a few years older to get a Yellow Lab.....I love talking about my Labs and I'm glad to finally have a place where I don't have to be afraid that I am boring people. Hope to get to know all of you better! Becca
