I don't like salads, soups, or leftovers all that much. If by some chance I do crave a salad or my meal comes with a side salad, I always the the dressing on the side and dip each bite (some people dip their fork) in the dressing. You'll use a lot less dressing that way.

I like to eat at Applebees and places that have menus with lighter fare. I dont eat salads out because I like all the goop on them that destroy their health value...crutons full fat dressing cheese etc.

I like to get lean steak, fish or chicken with the veggie sides.

Yeah baked potatoes are great. Poke some holes with a fork and microwave for a few minutes, and it's ready. Yesterday I had it with bacon, colby cheese, broccoli and scrambled eggs. I also love it with kidney beans and salsa!

I have gotten some good ideas by looking at restaraunt menus via Google. You have the do a "makover" on most, but you find entrees that sound good, and have potential for low-fat,etc.

You could take a patially baked potato with the fixings/veggies seperate, and heat that up.Hmmm...baked pot sounds good! I guess I'm trying to say that you're not limited to salads and sandwiches for lunch!

Thanks for all the input. You guys are awesome.

I *kinda* like them when all the non vegetable extras are on -- cheese, dressing, sunflower seeds. But I just figure by that time, I've added so many calories and the vegetable percentage has declined so far that I've defeated the point of eating it in the first place! I'll stick to no sauce wraps, grilled chicken, and soup, as some of you have suggested for eating out at lunch. Thanks!

Quite true.

I remember when Wendy's was questioned about high fat salads and their response was that they never claimed to have a healthy menu just an alternative menu so if people don't read their nutrition facts...

something to that effect at any rate.

And always ask for dressing on the side and if they don't do that to ask for reduced dressing and low fat/fat free. Even for ceasar salads.

A lot of the fast food salads are actually much worse for you than the hamburgers and such... I would just look into it.. Good luck...

I'm not a big salad eater either, although lately I've had a little change of heart as I began experimenting a little. Try adding things you wouldn't normally think of as salad food into one. Mandarin oranges, peaches, cheddar cheese, ham, turkey, walnuts, etc. I don't eat some vegetables you normally find in salads like peppers, onions, olives, so I just add what I like to eat and make it my own. As for going out to lunch, I'll admit I'm addicted to soup. I'll usually have soup/sandwich or chili/ceasar salad.

I like to get my veggies in with soup.I cook enough for 4-5 meals, but if you don't like to fix salads, you definitely will not like making soup! I can't eat the canned soup, even the "healthy" ones. I'm on a very restricted sodium diet, and I'm not supposed to have processed foods and preservatives.

Luckily,I have the time to fix soup and other things that people that work might not have the time to do.When I worked,I used to take things like grapes, cheese, and low-fat crackers. Another fave was an apple, peanut butter,&raisins (I'd half & scoop apple right before eating and put the peanut in the holes.Baby carrots are also good with that. A healthy Waldorf salad with chicken is good.I use flavored yogurt with a little Miracle whip for the dressing.

I don't know if I helped or not,but at least I put forth some effort,LOL!

I am not a salad eater either although I do like it as a side to another dish at a restaurant. So I don't eat solely salad there.

I do look for low fat alternatives and it's even better if they have symbols indicating low fat healthy meals on the menu.

I go for wraps usually and then I just ask to cut the fat sauces in half. There always ways to make things healthier.

So who cares what your co workers are eating. go for what you want but just keep it as healthy as possible. No point in spending money on something like that just to impress other people.

I don't eat much salad though because I hate making it and it never tastes the same even if it identical to someone else's recipe. I very much like salad when other people make it hahahaha

Not at all! You don't *have* to eat salad! After all this is a lifestyle not a diet and you certainly aren't going to be eating something you hate all your life.

That being said have you tried varying salad combos and recipes? I have a tendency to not like it unless I can have ranch on it so I try new ways to make it. I'll keep trying until I find something else I like because I do enjoy having a salad.

If I'm out to eat I check my calories and how many I want to save for dinner and how many I've used for lunch then go based on that.

One of my favorite things to get for lunch is a grilled chicken breast with a whole wheat bun and ketchup and mustard for the condiments. Then with that I usually get a side salad; but since you don't like salad ask if you can get a portion of their veggie of the day instead of fries or ask for a side of fruit instead of fries.

There's other healthy things; egg white omlettes...veggie burgers....steak....fish. I can generally find something healthy no matter where I go (the question always comes down to if I'll order that or not hehe).

If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes.

I just don't like salad. I eat them occasionally, but I am super picky about them to the point that I think I've ruined their nutritional value. Blah!

A few times a month, some co-workers and I will go out to lunch. It seems like almost everyone eats salad for lunch, even the guys! I refuse to stuff something down my throat that I am just going to gag on.

I'm not saying that I'm eating a burger and fries while everyone else is eating salad. I usually still pick something that is pretty healthy. Is salad just an acquired taste?

If you don't get a salad, what do you get when you go to lunch?
