I prefer the thigh meat myself, but most of my friend prefer white.

Dragon Chick You are so welcome , just wanted to say, Chicken thighs are fatting and so is the gravy. But, OH my goodness, it is so good. A number one meal for guest also. Maybe you could use chichen breast instead, you would just need to let them simmer a little longer (like 20 minutes).

I use adoba seasoning and grounded peppercorns. I also used pancake flour instead of regular flour. It was so good my husband ate 3 helpings on top of the chicken, I also made stuffing on top of the stove with cream of chicken soup and one can of water to 3 cups of stuffing mix from the bag and he ate 3 helpings of this also. My husband is very thin and 6' 3" tall, and he never gains weight. I cook collars and kale once a month divide the greens in frozen bags and put them in the freezer and we have enough for a whole month or more. This was our veggies and steamed baby carrots steamed in honey and water for 5 minutes. Hope this helps. If not let me know. I prize myself on sauces and graves(which we only have once every 3 months).

I don't know if this is the right chicken or not, but I made this last night after church for my husband and I, and it was so good. I used thighs (for the 1st time). Boneless thighs 4 in a fry pan on top of the stove, (I seasoned them before putting into the freezer). After turning them over 3 times on very low heat, I added 2 cups of water and put a top on them, let them summer for 15 minutes take out of pan and add flour or pancake flour, stir until thick and place over the chicken. The chicken fell off off the fork it was so tender and the sauce was so good. This was my first time making it. Hope this helps. Be blessed.

Checked out the link - OMG - that looks yummy!!
It sure could be.
Her family was from Philly, and I don't recall much gravy being served.
This was simmered in it, But I'll try those. Thanks!

Man, I was so hoping there was really a recipe out there called Farmer's Chcken.
Maybe she made it up. :-)

My mother would always add a tiny pinch of either red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the melted butter.

Other possible additions might be parsley, chives, garlic, rosemary or sage...

My grandma was a farmers wife. she generally just roated whole chickens or cut them up and placed them on the grill.we maybe would use BBQ sauce but otherwise she made a lot of things from scratch.

i was reading your post could it be she was adding celery also, it give the chicken a special
taste, iremember my daughter in law asking me what i put in my chicken to give it such a good taste and it was onion and celery, with salt and pepper. Hope this will help

Yes, she did simmer it in the cream for awhile so that it thickened and softened the chicken. Other than onions, salt and pepper, I don't think she used other spices. But i suppose you could use anything you wanted. I haven't made that in many years. Good luck with yours.

my MIL used to just pour heavy cream on her chicken after she browned it. could that be the sauce you are thinking of?

Hi,

Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to post. But...
I've been searching for years for a particular recipe for Farmer's Chicken.
My mother used to make it when I was a kid.
It was chichen parts, bone-in, simmered in some kind of white sauce.
I've tried and tried, but I can't get the taste right.
I'm missing a key ingredient.

Any ideas?
