You can find the Healthy Choice salad additions in the freezer section with their other entrees. The toppers have chicken in them and some vegies. They are just a good starter to a quick salad.

Where do you find the Lean Cuisine Salad Toppers in the grocey store?

I have used the Lean Cuisine salad toppers. I usually add more chicken or have some cottage cheese with them for more protein. I also add other vegies I have on hand. They are good to have on hand when you don't feel like making a salad or cooking.

I used to get Healthy Choice entrees for lunch when I worked, but since I retired I quit that. Not the only frozen stuff I get is either from Schwan's or frozen ravioli. I do make chicken broth and beans and freeze them. Also lasagna.

Hello again, I forgot to mention our dinner.Last night Hubby didn't eat at all and I just had a bowl of homemade soup, tasty and healthy but not very rewarding as I am getting quite depressed over our move, maybe I will cook something tonight.CLinOregon
Frozen dinners are so convenient but they are high in salt sugar and carbs.I used to eat them quite often but after reading labels I decided to back off and only do them occasionally.I would buy the cheap small dinners and have them for lunch and call that my big meal of the day.CLinOregon

Happy Mothers Day to all, We are moving!! Yesterday our helpers packed so much stuff it was almost embarrassing! Luckily the house we rented is large and it has a large two car enclosed garage also but we have barely scraped the surface of our move,so much more to do.Our new renter says he will come over and help us move tomorrow as we need all the help we can get. They are anxious to move into our place and we are getting anxious to move into town.We have buildings full of stuff that we just can't get to right away, this is such a depressing move for me,I have grown to really love this place but it is time for a reality check so sad to be leaving and I will have to give up my pottery probably as I won't be able to hook up the kilns.Husband says we might have the power but it all takes time to rewire the garage for the power I need.Depression and moving, good article for sparkpeople,oh well such is life.CLinOregon

I too like the Healthy Choice Asian Inspired Steamers--and I eat Smart Ones Tuna Casserole, adding some combination of broccoli, onion, celery, tomatoes, mushrooms and garlic.

I eat Smart Ones Angel Hair Marinara also adding balsamic vinegar and splenda for a sweet sour taste, with oregano, garlic powder and basil plus broccoli, mushrooms and onio

With these additions I like these meals--and the additions don't take much time. I cook the veggies on top of the dinners as they thaw and cook.

My weight is day by day becoming more dependent upon Whose I am than on my circumstances and feelings.

Life here is a one-time deal. I want to live it well.

Most frozen dinners are just awful! My daughter said to try Healthy Choice Asian Inspired Café Steamers. I was surprised - I actually liked them. Perfect for a quick lunch and quite tasty!

I don't normally eat frozen dinners, but the last time my husband was away on a business trip, I tried one of the Smart Ones - the Stone-Fired Crust Fajita Chicken Pizza. Not bad at all.

I've never eaten a frozen dinner, but I do freeze home-cooked leftovers. So: I guess that means I have eaten frozen dinners. I've found, especially since I'm now cooking for only two, even recipes need to be augmented to meet nutritional requirements, so I just create my own recipes, and I know what I'm getting. I would think store-bought frozen dinners would have a whole lot of tasty ingredients, like sugar and fat, that add negative nutrients to any diet. Now that I'm on that subject: what's the deal with restaurants putting too much sugar and fat in everything? I watched a cook/chef spray liquid oil on a breakfast menu just before he sent it out to the waitress, explaining why breakfasts are always oily. and salmon that has a sugar glaze?!? Gack!

I used to buy frozen lunch entrees all the time. They were a great go to and the convenience couldn't be beat. However, after being diagnosed as diabetic 6 years ago I learned to read labels. I quickly learned that even the ones I thought were healthy really were not. They were either high in carbs or high in sodium; or both.

Fast forward to now and I rarely have a frozen entrée on hand. I still find that I look at them from time to time; but quickly change my mind when I read the labels. I now resort to cooking meals (usually on Sundays) and portion them out.

Eating Right frozen meals are so super tasty, low in calories, low in sodium, but high in protein. I highly recommend them.

There's a pot stew like one that isn't bad in calories, but you are right. Most of her's are up there in the calorie range!

I use frozen dinners for my lunch at work...they are very convienent. My favorite brands are Lean Cuisine and Smart Ones. I am not a fan of Michelina's Lean Gourmet. I have not tried Amy's but have heard good things about it.

Jenae - I would agree, however, for many, me included, sometimes it's the best option given what's going on in the day. So, this thread, to help those who do eat frozen dinners get guidelines and maybe determine the better ones.

my favorite one in the 3 cheese stuffed rigatoni. It has at least one veggie serving, maybe 2. I don't really like frozen microwaved meat so these are perfect. It has 250 calories and it is big enough to leave me satisfied although I sometime follow it up with a fruit just to get in another freggie. I especially have appreciated these during lent for my lunch a few fridays.

From what I have noticed, Marie Callendar's dinners/pot pies etc have a much larger amount of sodium in them - - much more than what is recommended. On frozen dinners, watch particularly for the sodium content.

I do enjoy an occasional Healthy Choice meal or Lean Cuisine, but then again watch the sodium content in them. Most of them, I have found, are quite tasty but often need to add more veggies .

So, I'm going to try something a little different - reviews of frozendinners.

One of my goals is to eat no frozen dinners, however, I've recently realized that sometimes, it's just not to be, so I'm trying to be very conscious about which dinners I eat and how often.

Not to be a negative Nellie, but if you choose not to eat Frozen Dinners, please do not reply to this thread with the evils of frozen dinners or why you don't eat them. Sometimes, it's just the best option, either for dinner or for lunch, and I'd like to know which ones are good and which ones aren't.

To kick it off, a brief review of Marie Callendar's Braised Beef Pot Roast, one of their Comfort Bakes. I was pleasantly surprised that this dish has just 210 calories. It's a basic dish - beef, potatoes, carrots, pearl onions and a sauce. Overall, it was very tasty. The meat was tender, the carrots had a bit of crunch and the sauce was good. It was also a generous serving for the 210 calories. One could easily add additional veggies if so desired.

I think this will be a good stand-by dinner as it was good and not overloaded with calories.
