Since I do my own cooking, if and when I follow a receipt I usually divide it into a portion that I can cook and eat in one meal, two at the most. About the only exception is a slow cooker or chill. The leftovers form them go into the fridge for meals down the road. Almost forgot, homemade soup also goes into that category.

I like recipes, but I do wind up using them as a guide as I'm very picky about what I eat. I do find though that recipes submitted by team members and in the team cookbook are a great start as they are already "portion modified." Most recipes are 4 servings or less.

When I do use a recipe, I usually use it as an outline. I have started out making one thing and ended up with something completely different. In the last 10+ years I can only recall making 2 things that made it directly into the trash.

YES!!!! I'm always trying to use what I have in the pantry and frig for meals, keeping in mind what I need for a healthy diet. I'll either throw together what I think will taste good or tweak recipes. Since my DH doesn't eat the way I do, I probably have more freedom to experiment Go for it! Kath

Are you kidding? OF COURSE IT COUNTS!!!! None of us would be over weight fi we did NOT LIKE EATING, so if you find something- ANYTHING that satisfies you and does not break your meal structure then MORE POWER TO IT!!! When I am in reality diet zone I eat a lot of shrimp, tuna and scallops. NO RECIPE NEEDED!!! High Protein, virtually no fat and low calories. No recipe needed!!!!!!!!!!!!
