That was the exact word I was looking for and couldn't think of it earlier - consistency! No the QB doesn't have that yet and honestly I am not sure if he is the QB that will have it but I guess we have to give him the chance to mature and grow in the position. I can remember a long time ago when a lot of people had the same opinion of one Brett Farve when he first started as well. I can not tell which way I will go yet because Jackson does need some experience to gain that confidence level all QB's need to know when to take the chance and when to play it safe.
And yes, I agree completely that he didn't play consistant enough last year. Some people think that Tom Brady and other great QB's either are just great or they aren't and I don't believe in it quite that way. Yes, natural ability is a must and part of it but experience is also a big part and good receivers are a must as well. Behind any great QB that stands out there is always a great receiver doing his job as well.
Hey thanks for blogging on this as I really enjoy learning more and more about this. I need to grow in these areas as I enjoy the sport and now that my boys are all older and play football in school and are really into it I find I need to keep on top of this as it gives me common ground to start converstions with my teenagers!
Any good thoughts or comments please pass by way as some days it is so important to have something to say to a teenager to break the ice and nothing gets their attention more than when they realize you are really trying to be more involved and learn more about things they are into!
