HD is herpetiform dermatitis. It is the skin part of CD. It is a very itchy. blistery rash. I was diagnosed with it in 1977, and was told not to eat wheat. I didn't know until 2001 that is is the outward sign of CD.

The doctors have done biopsies of the hives and assure me they are not HD...The acupuncturist suggested no wheat and the problem went away. So I am thinking that western medicine doesn't always know what's going on. When I told the doctor the hives went away when I stopped the wheat, he asked me to eat it for two weeks and get tested for CD. So I did. Was miserable with sinuses out of control for 2 weeks. The test came back negative for CD. I have decided the acupuncturist is the one with the answers and I will see him more often...I am on year two of my journey into Eastern medicine and feeling better with each visit! My asthma doctor is getting ready to discontinue my last inhaler....I really think he is on to something...

Donna- It is amazing what Doctors think they know and how the information is not always correct. I am glad you have children and know what to eat now!!! I was told that my rashes were just eczema for many years and didn't get the right diagnoses until I had developed multiple organ autoimmune failure. Often wonder if I could have been saved from some of this difficult illness path with better knowledge from my doctors. Glad I have the right information now and am getting healthy. Barb

I,too, was amazed at how much better I felt the day after giving up wheat. The chronic hives are gone. The chronic sinus infections gone. Just got back from the asthma doctor. He has reduced my inhaler to one puff twice a day. If I am the same after the grass is done blooming, I can discontinue it completely! I have been on inhalers for 30 YEARS! If only I had known sooner...

That is great that you are finding it easier then you thought it would be, There is so much more available now then when I started the diet and now the food can usually be found in most supermarkets instead of just health food stores. It is great that you are all ready feeling better.
