I also would love a gluten free option in the menu planner. What I do right now is adapt recipes for myself, use things I already have, but I am new to sparkpeople, so I keep the menu planner there and then try to see what I have that keeps me within the same limits. It seems to work ok so far, it is getting easier each day, it seems.
Thank you for mentioning the Tofutti Cream Cheese. Clov3r had asked me about a substitution for it that was dairy free and i could not think of it. Hope that you enjoy the recipe. I know we all loved it. I had not had carrot cake in 15 years.
Thanks CLOV3R - I was looking in the wrong place. I found it now and printed it off. I can use the Tofutti cream cheese instead so that I don't have any dairy. I need to take something to share during Sunday School in 2 weeks so I will try it out. It will be nice to have something on the table that I can eat!
I just joined Sparkpeople this morning and am happy to find this discussion about GF recipes/items on the meal planner. It would make this process much easier if we could just check a box saying we want gluten free meals. Maybe that's coming down the pike soon. Thanks to your posts here I am off to a good start!
I know what you mean. I have a lot of recipes that I have made but they are not of the health sort for putting into the site recipes. But if we all add the daily items that we use into the nutrition tracker and set the entered foods as shared then it will help other not having to enter the same information.
Yeah, good idea to share, uhm but mine is not suitable for sharing. I like baking, but my recipes are not of the healthy kind! Too much oil, and way too much sugar! I need recipes for everyday meals.... real meals... not junky stuff. please.
I took a survey for Spark People and one of the things listed was to add more gluten free foods to the recipes and the meal planner. I, of course, said it was a great idea. So maybe it is in the works. I have manual entered most of the gluten free foods that I use and have put them in the shared list so if everyone does this there will be a lot more available.
I add many of my own foods as favorites and can import some that others have added. I was pleasantly surprised that quinoa was already on ther. Which foods do you wish were on the nutrition counter? As far as menus - I plan my own and have them posted on my refrigerator. Some of the Spark recipes can be made to be gluten free. Maybe some day we can get a gluten free menu on SP.

i only use the meal planner to count carbs, fat, sugar and protein intake. its good for that, but i enter everything myself. it works for me. UK and US foods are different anyway, so cant use it even for gluten / without meals.
