Yep, its a pill sold in health food stores. I came across it in my research for gas/bloating before I knew about the gluten problem. They actually give it (in large amounts obviously) to overdose victims and it works by absorbing toxins and taking them out of your body.
The warning on it is that it will take nutritional stuff out too so don't take it with your healthy meal, take it as needed when your stomach is upset or you realize you inquested gluten.

My doctor gave it a thumbs up as well.

How do you take activated charcoal? Is it in a pill?

Thanks again Mark!

Also activated charcoal. I rids the body of toxins (hangover cure too!)

That sounds easy enough to do as I already have the probiotics and papain. (but I don't think I will try it out on purpose!)

I just did some searches to find what people have used and found these.
1. Aloe Vera Juice;

2. A fiber supplement like Metamucil (both flavors are gluten free)with about a 1/2 cup of G.F. juice
(make sure it is gluten free) along with plenty
of water in order to help flush the gluten;

3. Make ginger tea by chopping up pieces of ginger pouring boiling water on it and adding a spoonful of sugar to it;

4. bromelain/papain caps;

5. acidophilus/probiotics;

I am sure that there are other things that people try. I now that I usually take Pepto Bismo to help settle down the stomach upset and cramping but it does not help much. The people who say to use the bromelain and probiotics say to take them regularly and then when you are glutened to take a larger dose. I know that when I was taking the probiotics it made it so when I was glutened it was not as bad and usually only lasted a day instead of a week.

I do feel it helps after about a week or so of using it I noticed a difference and that was about two months before I found out I was allergic to gluten so I was still eating it..

I use Detox tea. It's not a cure-all but I find it helps "move things along". You should be able to find some in the natural foods section of your grocery store.

I have been using Ultra InflamX360 by metagenics for my stomach. It seems to help I had some food that my son brought home for me from a restaurant and I am sure it had gluten in it so my stomach hurt all day. I didn't get a change to use the ultra but used it today. Sometimes it is just not possible to avoid gluten all the time.

That is exactly what happened- twice! I ate out, thought I was ordering GF but apparently not. And it was 24 hours of symptopms. Its unpleasant and in many ways life altering. I don't feel physically able to go to the gym, am really tired and can't wait to just get home and go from bed to toilet for the rest of the night. :(

Some times you just have to let it run its course. Yes we have to be careful about what we eat but sometimes you just don't know what is in the foods. That is one reason that I read labels all the time but that is not possible at restaurants and they could have wheat in the products. I know people who don't know that white flour is wheat. So don't be so hard on this lady, she did say that she did not eat it just because it was there. She just don't know what was in the food, she may have eaten out and that is where she may have eaten it.

Dorothy

If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit.

This is definitely NOT medical advice but I have resorted to taking Milk of Magnesia to get rid of symptoms/ get offensive stuff out of my system. (Sometimes it works better than other times. It is definitely not something I would suggest you do just any time you feel like eating gluten - only for a slip up). I will be waiting to hear what other people do as I don't have any other answers.

I have no idea what I ate on Monday but on Monday night a all Tuesday I was all symptoms. It is very frustrating because I didn't "cheat" but I clearly had gluten.

Once I was in the midst of it, was there anything i could do/take to relieve symptoms? (gas, blaoting, diaherra) Anything that works for you? Anything to get the gluten out of my system faster?
