Grammypat, you should be able to tell the difference between the flour tacos and the corn... flour is flakey. corn is hard.. it wouldn't be either of those unless they fried them in the deep fat fryer with the breaded items... plus also the taco seasoning..... I am sorry you are so sensitive. yes, just because they might be corn, doesn't mean they didn't fry them...
Have a Merry Christmas

Not a good day yesterday. I had to go shopping after working all day and I was so tired so we went to Golden Corral for supper. I really tried to make good choices. A small piece of steak, a small red potato from the pot roast section, steamed squash, steamed carrots, a very small salad. Problem items- I put some pepperoni on the salad (not supposed to have pork) and I had 2 tacos with just the meat and a teeny bit of guacamole. I was sure they were corn tacos but I didnt ask. My stomach was hurting all night and still today. Maybe the taco meat? I guess scratch Golden Corral off the list too.

I think the answer is 1 for each day you stay gluten free. That adds up to 30 or 31 for each month.

hello everyone, i am sorry, I don't know what is on your page compared to mine.
Mine is just a check box for each day that you remain gluten free. Mine has no numbers, asking how much.. that would be all to difficult.
just like checking off your water, if you had 8 glasses of water, just check it. if not don't mark anything...
Tell me if this helps.

I don't want to know how much gluten, i can't even keep track how much when I ingest myself. I can mark off when I don't have any gluten for the day.
Get back to me girls

Annette, On my other goals it has a box for the gluten-free days under the days but when I click on to that, a box comes on to the left to say how much.
So I am confused!!! Do you just have a box where to put a check on? That would be easier. I am still
confused!! Yes, please help us. Annette, at this time I want to THANK YOU for all the work you do on this team. You are a GREAT co-leader. Thank You So
Much! GOD BLESS!

I cant find any checkbox?

Is everyone surviving so far? Between the cold weather and being bombarded with cookies and parties, the whole season is getting on my nerves.
So far I have been able to say no to everything but it starts to get you down.
Now Hank is home and I have to start cooking for him. Last night I made him smoked sausage sandwiches and some gluten free pasta and ground beef for me, sauteed cabbage on the side.
I leave the room and there he is eating my stuff.
I sort of lost it. He can have anything he wants and hes eatingmy stuff. Well it smelled good. would it be better if it smelled like dog food!
Sorry to vent, its just been a rough day. And its only 11 0 clock.

Annette, I have been marking off the goal daily. Am I doing it wrong? It says how much, I thought that meant how much gluten one has been eating so I have put zero in the boxes for each day. Please correct me so I can do it right. I have been marking the goal daily. At first I though it meant how many days but it says how much so that is why I put zero in each box. I have been gluten-free. We had a staff appreciation lunch at work on Thursday and the only thing I could eat was the salad. However, I knew that a head of time so I was prepared. Please let me know how to do the box in the other goals correctly if I am doing it wrong. Thank You! GOD BLESS!

To Clov3r, what were you thinking....
Of course if it is cooked with the crumbs and deep fat fried with all that, all the chicken is contaminated.
When you go out to eat and say you order a burger..
you have to order it without the bun. You can't take off the bread, because it wouldn't matter. The whole burger is contaminated. When you go out to eat you have to ask if the fries are fried in a seperated fryer from the breaded items... usually they are not.
Wendys however does fry theres in a seperate fryer. But i was told it varies from store to store.
I have put up a blog, so i don't clog peoples emails and I still haven't gotten anyword.
My blog was pertaining to the question, does anyone see the goal to posted on their page or nutrition page to check off if you remained gluten free or not.
I see it on mine. And I see no one is using it but me.
I need to know if you all see it.

Hi everyone. I don't know how I missed this discussion, but I found it, and here I am in all my glory!

Grammypat emoticon !! You can be soo proud of yourself!

I messed up my week completely. As it was my daughter's birthday, they thought it might be a good idea to order some Kentucky! (I pulled off all the skins, and enjoyed the pure chicken pieces) Ha Ha, what a joke. This is Sunday night, and I'm still paying for it. So I suppose, a lesson learnt! If it is cooked in crumbs.... Stay away from It!!

Luckily tomorrow is another week start!

I survived the dinner. I ate before I went. I got there and the salad was covered with shredded cheese, I picked out what I could and just had a few bites, Then the main course came. Turkey covered in gravy, stuffing, sweet potatos with marshmallows and the vegetable was green beans casserole. A gluten nightmare. I was so glad I had eaten already so I wasnt even tempted. Dessert was key lime cheesecake and mocha cheesecake. I brought all home in a doggie box for my granddaughter, had a big glass of tomato juice and smiled all night.
It felt so good to have stayed on plan.
The best news is that a dress I bought 6 months ago that I thought was still too small fit perfectly. I got so many compliments my head was big!!!

Grammypat, you are doing great.
I however never heard of anyone being allergic to pork or beans. Wow, how awful for you to be allergic to so much... what type of reaction do you get when you eat this stuff?
You will do just fine as long as you eat before you go.

Along with gluten, I am allergic to dairy, soy, pork and green beans.
Order of the Eastern Star is a womens group associated with Masons. We do different types of charity work and and support the masons.
My husband is also a Shriner and tonight is that meeting and dinner. The menu is turkey and dressing and I know there will be mashed potatoes. I am going to have a hambuger and spinach before I go and then just eat the salad and veggies there, take the rest home in a box. The desserts there are the hardest. They always have cheesecake!!!
I will be happy when holiday eating is over.

Good news is I lost another pound, only 4 to go for my goal

why can't you eat pork Grammypat?
what was wrong with the cheese or creamed stuff.
Are you not able to eat dairy either.
What a horrible dinner for you? I am glad you feel okay.
did they even offer a salad on the menu? What is an Eastern Star meeting. I was thinking you ate middle eastern.
Today is a new day... you'll be fine

Well after 8 weeks without a deliberate slip last night I ate meatballs. I was at our Eastern Star meeting and there was NOTHING legal there. I mean nothing. I took a few slices of what I thought was turkey and it turned out to be pork. I cant have that so I dumped it. Everything else was creamed, cheesed, breaded or barbequed. I ate 6 small meatballs. I know they have bread crumbs in them and soy but I had not eaten since breakfast so I took the chance. I actually feel ok today but mad at myself. Hey at least I didnt touch the sweets, not even the to die for rum cake!

ooooh licorice... that's what i used to eat every night for so many years on my break... then i would live in the bathroom trying to supervise the baggers and cashiers... thank goodness I had management that really liked me..
i can honestly say I don't miss licorice..
I do miss a fresh squeezable sandwich and rolls with a salad.. sometimes pasta.. otherwise not too much.
if anything you can do one better and have a shot of Yagermiester.... tastes just like black licorice.
I believe it is safe to drink.

I am glad you made this a forum subject.

I made it through the first week of the challenge. And even being gluten free sine 1994 this week had a lot of temptations because we had our annual family dinner and their was a lot of good looking food. But I was good and stayed away from them. All though some french fries that my wife order on a stop to my sisters house called my name really strongly.

Hi Annette!
Be patient with us. It's the holiday season, and all. I don't post that many messages, anyway.

I can tell you that today my whole family sat down to watch the Christmas Classics marathon. You know, with Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer? We were so excited because Daddy brought Red Vines home from the store, so we could have a very special treat. (We can afford to; we've got our metabolisms burning pretty strong.) I took my first bite and thought, "My that's pasty...tastes like bread." So I looked at the label and sure enough: wheat. Isn't that fascinating? After almost two years gluten free, licorice tastes like bread to me? Weird.

So, I spit out what I could and felt a little sad watching everybody eat licorice without me. But then I drew a nice hot bath for myself and my husband brought me cammomile tea and told me to take all the time I wanted. That's way more than a fair trade!!!! emoticon

Annette, Congrats on your co-leading this group! You
are doing a wonderful job! I have been gluten free
ever since September when I started going to a Naturopathic Doctor. Celiac Disease does run in my family and after listening to me my doctor realized that I have it. Well, eating gluten is not an option
for me either. I have done so much better going without it. Again, I am glad you are a co-leader. Keep Up The Great Work! GOD BLESS!

Glad to have you as a co-team leader Annette!

I am Kat and I have a gluten allergy, never diagnosed with celiac. I have a horrible response, skin crawling madness and itchy scalp, when I eat even a crumb of gluten so I avoid it all the time. Cheating is not an option for me, unfortunately.

Have a great day everyone!!

I am new as a co team leader and not sure how to do too much here.. I was told however to post the gluten free challenge as a sticky topic.
On Monday Dec. 8 I challenged those who sometimes find it difficult to avoid temptation to try to remain gluten free for 7 days.. then we take it from there.
I need to find time to figure out how to post the goals for the team..
Until then, those of you who would like to join in at any given time please let us know how you did for the day and what your temptations were and how you overcame them.
I started Monday, and have been faithful with my gluten free diet now for 3 consecutive days.
Please share anything you have for us, including receipes and shopping and finding information.
I do know however the Celiac.com site is an awesome site and very informational. Check it out.
It does have a "forbidden/safe food" list. You'd be surprised the many different forms gluten comes in.
Please post how your doing and introduce yourself.
Annette,
co-team leader
