I agree that if the scalp is all ready irritated it will burn no matter what you use. I have been alternating Pantene Dandruff shampoo with suave daily clarifying and seem to have less problems. If I use the same shampoo over and over it alway leads to problems no matter what type it is so I always rotate them.

Thanks to both of you that responded. This is very helpful. I have a theory about the Neutrogena. If it is GF, it may be that may scalp is so irritated already that any type of soapy substance is going to burn. I'm not sure. I appreciate the suggestions!

I found some things on the Celiac Disease On-Line Support Group Gluten-Free Product Lists. It's not a gurantee, but it's helpful. Always check things out.
**All products in Desert Essence Organic Line are 100% wheat & Gluten free., EcoColors Haircolor (http://www.ecocolors.net), Loreal Color Vive Shampoo (800-631-7358) “This product does not contain gluten.”

and Savonnerie is supposed to be very good but I haven't tried them yet. http://gfsoap.com/

I wrote the EcoColors I'll let you know what I find out. I think we'd have to order them off line.

Are you sure you aren't reacting to something else too? Most Neutrogena is GF but it bothers me for other reasons. (plus they test on animals so I don't like them but that's different) Some Aveda is ok, but only one shampoo. It's all natural, but wheat is natural, sooo we are stuck there.

good luck to you!!
wendy

I have been using the Suave shampoos for several years and they do not cause the burning. Also the Pantene shampoos have been good so far. But check the ingredients to make sure because each type has different ingredients. I always look to see if they have wheat or oats in them. I have also found that I react to nettles which are in a lot of shampoos.

Hello; I was diagnosed as allergic to wheat about a month ago. I have many other food allergies but this is the one that drives me crazy the most. I live in Idaho and we don't have a Whole foods or a Trader Joes but I do travel to AZ once a month for work so, I could stop there. I have tried Redken, Aveda and Neutrogena shampoo & conditioner and it burns my head like I just poured acid on it. Also, I color my own hair and the Loreal Brand does the same. Can anyone recommend a good shampoo, conditioner and hair dye that is wheat free? Thank you!!
