I'm not celiac either, but...
I've been eating gluten for the past three days... not more food, I know because I keep track, but now as I sit here I feel soooo bloated and the scale shows the bloat too!!
I feel overstuffed, tired and lethargic.
I don't tell people anymore that I'm gluten free and since I'm not celiac I don't stress about "hidden" gluten too much. That seems to help others not feel so wierd about it.
So, the moral of the story...
I need to stay the course 95% of the time.
It's worth it.

Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally.

Know what you mean about that sandwich but we pay for it later and then we like to kick ourselves but we hurt too much to do it cause our bodies are doing it for us. When I get into wheat I feel like some kids came into my room at night and jumped on my arms and legs and then punched me in the stomach and then it is running to the bathroom and being in pain until it all comes out.

Hello LEILAHT!

That is so very true. Not being celiac, I'm able to go ahead and attribute my symptoms to other things. Migraines? Nausea? There was always something else that attributed to it, but in actuality, I know better.

I appreciate your comments to much and I do appreciate the encouragement! I will try and do the same and post each day, just to stay in the loop.

Good luck to you!!

Welcome back. It is so easy to just stop eating gluten free when you aren't celiac. No abdominal symptoms makes it easy to just ignore the other ones. I started cooking gluten free again to test some recipes for a celiac friend. I really do feel better. I wish I could remember that next time I see a sandwich. It doesn't help that my family thinks I'm a nut job. Of course, they don't live in my body, do they? I will try to encourage you every day.

Hello Everyone!

I'm the long-absent administrator formerly known as ThinnerTheAir. A lot has taken place last year - some bad, but most very very good - and I have finally got back into the mindset where I'm ready to get healthy.

I stopped the gluten-free eating and it's been such a difference - in a bad way. I'm sluggish, lethargic, and I'm just not feeling as alert as I did before. I'm going grocery shopping this week and starting my healthy eating once again. it's so easy to slip off the wagon and hard to get back on, but the physical symptoms that accompany it really are bad enough for me to want to make the change permanent.

Congratulations to all of you who are still following a healthier eating plan and for those who may have slipped off the path as I did -- you can always come back!

Good luck and here's to a healthy and wonderful 2008!

Cam
