If you learned from your grandmother or mother, chances are that the version was Klondike. That's the old standard solitaire. For years I didn't know there was any other form! My hubby taught me accordion and canfield, and the rest I picked up from what I have on my computer.

Take care,
Carolyn

Have fun Lauren. Hope you don't get too addicted. It does happen.

it does ease boredom

It's the strangest thing...my Mother played Solitaire constantly when we were growing up, and we weren't allowed to disturb her during, so I grew up hating the game, never touching it.

About 2 months ago I tried pushing the buttons on the little electronic game David has, but didn't have a clue what I was doing.

Then yesterday, I just asked David to tell me what to do on the computer game, and I got the hang of it. Now I don't know anything about all those other versions, but I'm sure as I get better at this, I'll learn them too.

Oh my! I'm a solitaire addict!!! After all these years of illness, I don't know what I'd have done without it on the computer. It's a game I've enjoyed since I was about 7, and I play many, many of the variations!!

40 Thieves, 30 Thieves, La Belle Lucy, Klondike, Canfield, Pyramid, Golf, Accordion, Grandma's Game, Quadrille, Grandfather Clock, Spider and Yukon!!! Oh yeah, I love 'em all!

Lauren, you'll become a pro during your recovery time!!

Take care,
Carolyn

I learned it back in college. I majored in card games. emoticon
My favorite solitaire game is one where you have to add 2 cards to get 13--the cards are placed in a pymarid form and you work from the top on down. It's a tough one.
