I have not seen that message. I did a quick google search and I'm not seeing anything about problems or sales of spark people. I also checked on the team leader boards and no one is talking abourt it there so I think we are ok. I'll keep looking and let you know if anything is chnaging. Posting your question on this thread was exactly what this thread is for! Hope you are having a great day. I'm still fighting (and winning so far) this blasted pneumonia. I never appreciated breathing effortlessly until I had problems with the breathing from this illness. YUK!

Hi all
Said we could discuss anything here. I had a screen flash up on me this morning: sparkpeople.com domain for sale. Anybody else seen or heard this? If so what's that mean to us? Feeling kinda bummed over it...

Hi all
Once I forced myself out the door(and their was quite a lot of self pep talking going on to make me) I was amazed at how good it felt!! I bundled so much I was removing clothes as I walked. Got in an extra mile and actually enjoyed myself. My dog just looked at me like I was nuts...the wind & cold kept him turning back home. Thanks Gemstone1952 for your words this morning or I don't think I'd have done it.

We are experiencing the coldest weather we've had in this part of the country this season. I went out to grab my newspaper this morning (a short walk to the end of my driveway). I had just finished my shower and my hair was still wet. By the time I got to the end of my driveway, the ice crystals had started to form in the hair and by the time I got back into the house, my hair was crunchy! I actually think it's pretty cool when that happens. It is cold, cold cold. Last week I was in 80 degree Florida temps and now I am back home in the cold. I love this planet we live on....so much variety in the weather! It's crystal clear in the sky with bright sunshine but oh so cold today. I got pneumonia while on vacation in Florida but there I could go out and enjoy the weather. I went out shopping last night (7 degree temps) and discovered pneumonia lungs and cold air do not get along very well. Staying inside today!
For those of you in the deep freeze, stay warm!

It was 12......Brrr; warmed up nicely in afternoon ( except when the wind blew). I give people something to smile about as I walk some days. My outfits do seem funny; but works for me. I'll have to post a picture one day.

diamond dust! I had never heard of it so I looked it up. I would love to see it, but I don't think I'd like the cold conditions required for it to be seen. How cold was it where you were today? What I read said it needed temps around -13. I have seen related weather phenomena, sun dogs and halos, but they are up high. I am very envious of you having the fortune to see Diamond Dust!

Checking in again. Spent time off clearing out un-used room in my house. My school books were a weekand a half into the course getting here and I am way behind on my work. So now I am playing cetch up. My yard is drying out some and the weather is getting wormer.

Hurshey stayed out with the puppy most the day today. I waited till they were by a window and opened it to call them. Predictable, the puppy looked for me and looked and could not figure out why Hurshey was jumping at the side of the house. She kept walking up to the wall and looking around. Finaly, the big dog just sat and looked up at me and that was when the puppy found me. She got so excited and ran in a couple circles looking up. I could tell she was trying to figure out how she was suppose to get up to the window. She ran around the side of the house and back. Yesterday she was able to get up on the bed for the first time by herself. She did it by getting on Hursheys bed and jumping up to mine. Her mom Sweety has had no rest since. She sounds like a mad squeeky toy.

My first quilt from scratch is up and running. It will be a throw made totally out of my Navy uniforms. The top is almost done but will have to wait till I get caught up on my schoolwork to finish.

Welcome to all our new Walkers. Don't be strangers and say hi!
I'm still on vacation but returning home soon emoticon . The weather in Florida has been fantastic..warm, but not with the stickiness that is summer here. I'm enjoying it immensely. The Disney Marathon took place this past weekend. We (my family) are planning to enter it in 2 years. I doubt my knees will allow me to run again, but I can walk pretty fast and can easily meet the minimum speed. My only decision will be which event to enter. I have time to decide, but I'm looking forward to making the decision.

So, the weather held out till after Christmaas. Then it was cold and wet. Well It finally wormed up, and the Dogs have alot of energy. It is only suppose to last a couple days though. My yard is sooo muddy. The dogs are even getting to where they do not want to go out and walk by the driveway to get to the gate. I am down 15 bls now. Even with the Holidays I did good. Gem, keep us updated on the sholder.
The VA still has not done the claim n my foot. so still no meds and the weather wreeks does not help. Still, I keep doing what I am to keep up and ignore it the best I can. I installed a new door on my house and cut the trim and all. It looks pritty good.

We had hoped Bob's pension would be here today. Didn't happen. I'll check again at 11am when they update. Otherwise it'll be Wednesday before we can pay bills or get any grocery shopping done. Bob's not happy about it, but not a thing I can do about it.
Hope you all have a great New Year's Eve. If out and about, stay safe.

I know how it was with my broken wrist. I expected it to be back to normal after a certain length of time, but with 3 plates and 8 screws in it, I think I'm always going to have a little discomfort in it, especially if I use it a good bit. I hate how my wrist "feels" now. You can actually feel where the screws are. I just wonder whats going to happen once I lose the weight. Will the plates slide because there's not as much fat there?
I hope you can find out what's wrong with your shoulder and get it fixed. Maybe seeing your son's doctor would be a good idea.

I had a cortizone injection the day after thanksgiving. He said he wanted me back in a month if it wasn't better. It is better...but it isn't the way it was. When the month mark "rolled around", I was out of state. I still am and will be for a bit longer. I am trying to decide whether to go back to him or go to a doctor that my son went to after he tore up the tendons in his ankle. He suffered for over a half a year going to the same place I am going to now and while it improved, it didn't get back to the way it was before his injury occurred. He was told that PT, a cortizone shot and icing would heal it up. It didn't. When he went to the specialist for another opinion, he discovered that the damage was more extensive than had been previously diagnosed. He needed surgery. After the surgery and recovery, his ankle is now back to normal. Granted, he was just 25 at the time and there is a huge difference in how a 20 something heals and how a near senior citizen heals. So, I am mulling my options. I will see what happens over the next 3 weeks and then if it is still not right, I will probably go back to the doctor and see what he suggests. Or, I may simply make an appointment with my sons Doctor.

Happy Sunday to you too. Good news that Bob's feeling better. Low carb is the way to go, at least for me. I'm not able to do a lot for exercise right now. I really liked walking but it is tough for me to do it right now, at least tough to do it sustained and at an aerobic pace. I never realized how much I used my arms and shoulders when walking at my fast pace. Recovery from the fall I took on election day has been adequate, but when I walk I swing my arms and swinging my arms put stress on the damaged shoulder (torn and frayed tendons) and causes me pain. Funny how I never realized how many of your muscles are worked when walking. It's good to know, but I wish I had found out in a less painful way. emoticon
Anyways, your goals sound great and you have a plan! Good luck with your goals, I'm sure you will make them! 2013 is your year!

HAPPY SUNDAY!
Hope you're all having a great weekend. This year is almost gone and we have a brand new year to reach our healthy weight loss goals. What will you be doing to reach yours?
For me, I'll be doing low carb, and I'm cutting out all artificial sweetners. Bob and I have also joined a fitness center and will be going there 3 times a week. It's only a 5 minute drive from the house so no excuses not to go. I don't know how much of the 65 lbs I'll be able to lose in 2013 but I'm going to lose just as much of it as I possibly can.

BTW: Bob's breathing went back to normal once the fluid pill started working. He's fine now.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday. We had planned to head up to the fitness center this morning but Bob is having shortness of breath so we're going to wait now til this afternoon and see if he gets to doing better. He didn't take a fluid pill for 2 days and he may have a little too much fluid around his heart. He's taken the fluid pill today and we'll see if that helps. If his breathing doesn't improve within about a hour, I may take him to the doctor and see if he needs to go to the hospital.

I guess it is finals week(s) pretty much everywhere. My son and daughter are both in the midst of taking finals for the fall semester and I'm busily working to get the work done by my students graded as well.
My shoulder is still healing.....healing, being the important and operative word here. I have considerable weakness in it and it still hurts if I move it in certain ways or too much. The good thing is that at least it isn't a constant ache, I can now take care of myself again without asking for someone to help me and I am almost able to sleep through the night. Baby steps will still get me where I want to be.

Pupies are 7 weeks now and their ears stick strait up. When they are outside, it is like their spots disapeer and all you see is lil. white balls runing around. It is cute to see how my big 85 pound Hurshey plays with these less than two pound pupies.

I just finished turning in my essays. One 7 page and the other 9 pages. Wew, was it alot to type. The I put the wrong cover page on one. OOOOPS. Oh, Well, I wrote the teacher to ask forgiveness (and hopefully less points off).

Finals this week. Oh man I hope I am ready for this. I have one subject I have really strugled with. God willing, I can pull it off with at least a passing grade.

They were neighbors dogs. Apearently they had escaped a couple times and attaked before. I am new to this neighborhood, but anyone who owns an aggresive dog should take extra care to keep them under lock and key. I would put a dog down in a minute if I even had a small inkling it was turning agressive. I am really good at training anomals, even cats. Food agression would depend on the situation but I have trained it out of three dogs so far. All from places that kenneled them and fed them just enouph to keep them healthy. None were my dogs but live in renters.
My oldest dog was 17 yr. old 10 lb. all white mut. I got her from the SPCA. She had been with a horder who had 86 dogs. All but two of my dogs have been muts. I had a badly abused boxer I got as a teen. She loved smaller dogs and children. She seem to just appreciate being in a good home. She was shot by a neighbor two years later. He did not like dogs and did not like her getting near "HIS" fence in our back yard.I rescued a Jack Russel puppy in Spain and brought her back to the states with me. She was the smartest and easiest to train. 100 commands in english, spanish, and hand signals. I let a friend dog sit her and he spoiled her. He cooked for her at least twice a day and even let her eat at the table. He loved her so much I did not have the heart to take her back. I have had three other dogs that have gone to better homes also. Now, I have Hurshey. She is a Rotwhieler, Pitbull, Chow mix that is now 8 yrs old. Sounds bad, but she got the best of all breads. The other dog I have right now is an Itialian Greyhound Chuwawa mix who is estimated to be 4. I am keeping one of her pupies who is now 6 weeks old and named Powder. She is about twice the size of my hand right now.

Were these wild dogs or just someones pets who had escaped? I also love to share my life with human and non-human critters. I grew up always having a dog. When I was born, my parents had a lab/shepherd mix who decided I was its' pup. He lived until I was 13. Two years later I took in a little beagle whose mother wouldn't feed her. I had her for another 10 years. After I got married I bought a lab mix that a petstore was trying to sell as a full lab. I didn't care about the full or mix...I happen to like mutts. No one wanted to buy this poor pup, probably because she had no papers. The store was asking $300+ for her and as much as I wanted her, I couldn't afford it. After nearly a year, the price went down to $50 and she was mine. She was a really active, jumpy difficult to train animal probably because she had been caged and unsocialized for so long, but she eventually learned she was loved and loved me in return. My next dog was a shelter puppy. I got her when she was about 4 weeks old. She was by and far my best dog. She lived for 19+ years! We didn''t get another dog after she passed. My son and DIL just got a shelter cheagle . He is the cutest thing. He was surrendered to a shelter by his prior owners because they couldn't care for a puppy and their 5 children (one a newborn). What a shocker! Anyways, Bently (puppy) spends at least half his time here with me so sort of have another pup to love. I worry about him because he is so small and there are reports of coyote in the town. I've never seen or even heard them but my house abuts woods so I worry about the little guy. I have a 4 foot chain link fence around the yard, but I know my little lab could clear it so I'm guessing coyote could as well. I don't let Bentley out for long in the evenings...really just to do his "business" actually, but I worry. I 'm not even sure if coyotes jump? I imagine they could.

I had just watched my cousin drive off and was boining some water in a deep fryer and watching the pups climb in and out of the chain link fence. They looked tired so I gathered them up, and put them bach inside to rest. I walked back out to watch the burner and there were three cops cars there. I heard some one talking to my neighbor but it sounded harsh. I walked toward the fence. I saw a dog (a big boxer) run between the cars and down the neighbors drive. The cop in her front yard worned her to keep to the other side of her house where she was as the dogs were dangerouse. Alarmed and thankful I was on the other side of the fence, I ask how many there were. There were two and this was not the first time they had gotten out. We all have really big yards and lots of trees. Most of us have at least two sheds on top of this and few of the yards are fenced. Mine is fenced. Well, they had to put one dog down and dart the other. The other dog ran off and hid before falling to sleep, though. THEY TALKED OF PLACES THE DOG HAD HIDDEN BEFORE. This is how the officers knew they were dangerouse. They spent about an hour finding her. I wish we had a leash law but it would seem almost imposible to keep in this area. There are loose dogs everyware. Hurshey and my uncles dogs (we have neighboring properties) are fenced but the others in this neighborhood chain their dogs. Most people on this area keep big dogs and most big dogs can break regular chains. I did not see a coller on this dog though. Not to mention fenced dogs do not get as attention starved, bored, or restless. I would never keep a dog that is known to be dangerouse and I am really carful to keep my dogs contained. It erks me that people get so careless. The officer that had to shoot was real upset and I dont blame him. He was just doing his duty and should not have been put in that situation. It is a real shame. Boxers are very pritty dogs, and when well cared for and trained, are some of the best dogs. I had one as a teen and she was good with kids, kittins, and other dogs. They weigh from 85 to 100 lbs as adults and my 5 week old pupies are not even two lbs. This is why they climb through the fence links.
Dogs are pack animals and it is not good for them to be alone alot. This is why I almost always have a big dog and another animal. It use to be a cat and a dog but too mant of my friends are alergic to cats. So now it is a big dog and a lil. dog. In spain I had a Jack Russel and a Black Lab. When I gave the Lab to my friends cause they had a big yard I got a British Tabby that grew to almost two feet high and 16 lbs. In high school I had a minx kitten (which stayed as small as a kitten) and a Boxer. When the kitten died I got a white kitten. That white kitten grew into a 10 lb cat. Now I have Hurshey (a 85lb. ritwhieler, Pit, Chow mix. Sounds vicouse but she is really sweet and well behaved. I think she got the best genes from all breeds) and an Itilian Grewhound (10 lbs.) along with her not even two lb. pups. 4 in all. It is cute to see Hurshey play with the pups. She will slowly walk up to them then run when they try to fallow. Then return and do it all over again. I am keeping one I named Powder. She was all white when she was born. Now she has some faint spots.

So the verdict is in and.....the orthopedist said that the MRI indicated that I frayed my tendons in the shoulder pretty badly but he doesn't believe I will need surgery to repair them. Instead, I got a cortizone injection in the tendon (ouch, I know). The pain in the shoulder increased for about 2 days, but now it feels better than it has in nearly a month! I actually slept last night for the first time in a while. I was told no exercise with it for a bit but that in about 3 weeks, I should be pain free. I don't know what is next and when I am allowed to work out again so I will wait the month and then start. For now, I am resting it as the ortho recommended. I'm just relieved no surgery!
Thanksgiving weekend was crazy at my house, but fun. My entire family (my kids and grandkids) were all together for the first time. We are 13 now and it was the first time meeting of the ", cousins", not that the youngest of them will even recall it! We had a family friend come and take a family picture which was fun, though the pictures were not the greatest. It wasn't through lack of trying but trying to get 13 people to stay focused and smiling is next to impossible, especially when 4 of them are under the age of 7. The 7 year old wanted a picture of just the aunts, uncles and cousins. It's cute so I figured I'd put it up on my spark blog.
I had two big dinner days.....one of them included my DIL parents and the other included 4 of my own kids friends (they are all adult now) so we had to bring out and extra table to serve them all. It was wild and wonderful!

Cold is better but still linering. It s funny cause my cauph scares my puppies (now 5 weeks).

Patty, OUCH. Do be careful and give your arm time to heal. I had to go to physical therapy four times after injuring my leg just to correct my limp. It is not really noticable now. At first people would tell me I was walking like I was drunk. It is cause the dammage weakened my left foot so much it would give out even from regular walking. Ironic that I only drink about every couple years.
I just spoke to a friend who refuses to complete his therapy cause it was painful yet conplains of the pain he is still in. I told him mine was verry painful too but I pushed through the pain (which was sometimes very excruciating) and the strengthining excersizes are what really helped. I can even go up several flights of stairs without my akle giving out. The only thing they could not stabolize was the back to the left movement, like getting something from the fridge, and they never got the swelling to go down. He said it was different and I did not understand. I replied "what is not to understand. I have perminant nerve damage and swelling cause my foot was crushed and almost amputated and and you had a sever strain. Yours is muscle and mine invalved miscla, bome, tendon, legimants, and nerves. No, I do not understand. I would rather go through more pain now, that more prolonged and wersening pain later." They are calling this next generation "The Intitled Generation" and no wonder. They want everything handed to them and think nothing of being on SSI, Disability, Food Stamps, WIC, or any other government assistance program.
Nah, I would rather work for what I have. I believe I appreciate what I have more that way. I do not care if my stuff is not as good or if I do not have as much as others. I know that I earned what I got. I just wish this attutude was more widespread and the Gov. would not be so quick to give handouts.

You make sure you take care of that cough, Amanda. Drink lots of warm fluids...it helps. I'm waiting until Friday to find out what the verdict is on my rotator cuff. I was fulfilling my civic responsibility (AKA voting) and I took a nasty spill on my way back to the car. It was my fault. I was wearing clogs and trying to keep up with my over 6 foot tall DH who was power walking. I caught my foot on something and just fell forward. My knees and hands go abrasions and stung like crazy. I had to pick out some pebbles with a tweezers, but the real hurt was the jar to my shoulder. My arm was aching. I went to have it looked at and the the Nurse Practictioner sent me for xrays. No break, but she put it my arm in a sling until I saw the orthopedist. I already had an appointment with him to do a recheck on my knees. He looked at the x-ray and said it looked "great" and then asked me to move my arm. He did something diagnostic and when I yelped he said he thought I may have torn my rotator cuff. He ordered an MRI, which I had (it hurt, but I was able to stay still (mostly) for the 30 minute procedure). On Friday, I find out how bad it is....my arm right now just sort of hangs by my side when I walk. The non-injured one swings as usual. It is weird. My DD laughed and said it is the "zombie look". Sigh. I've been doing some light strength training to keep the muscles as strong as I can around the arm...I'm being very careful.
On the better side, my Philly family is coming for Thanksgiving weekend and will arrive after midnight Tuesday! YAY! My youngest son is coming home for the holiday as well. He'll also be here on Wednesday. It will be the first meeting of my youngest grandson (6 weeks old now) and his Philly cousins and family as well as his first time meeting his youngest uncle, my baby boy coming home from college! We are doing the big dinner on Saturday evening. My 2nd son is a paramedic and he is doing a 24 hour shift on Thanksgiving. My youngest has to play a college football game on Friday so dinner is served on Saturday.

Sweety's pupies are now 4 weeks old and eyes are open. They still do not venture our og the cage. One fell out yeaserday and my other dog let him cudle up to her. Before she would get off her bed if the pups were on it. It is funny to see a 100 lbs. dog move from her bed cause of a pup thet ways .5 lbs. When she went back to her bed after the pups were put up she would touch her bed in several placed looking for the pups before laying back down. Did my reserve duty this weekend and running in freezing weather gave a terable chest cold. I cauphed so hard I could not breath and got sick. Thankfulle I found the cauph medicen. Why do they insist on excersizing outside and usually on cement. Any way, feelin much better now. Lazy day today.

Sometimes life gets in the way of even our best plans, Amanda. You got a lot done and were busy. You just move on and get back on track. I'm glad you got to see your dog. I've been doing a lot of dog sitting for my son's pup. I r4eally like the little guy, though at the moment, we (my DH and I) are less than pleased that the little guy chewed through a wire that was part of our cell phone "tower" connection. We had to buy our own "tower" booster to try to stop calls from dropping. It was $200 and now it is broken. I was wondering why my phone calls were no longer coming through. Fortunately, we still have an old fashioned "land line" phone so when people can't get me on the cell (which now they can't), they call the land line. I can get unlimited calls on it, but I can't use it to call out without a major fee. I still love the little pup, but....he is "in the doghouse" now. emoticon

Definately did not keep to my diet this weekend. Took my grandma to a funeral and ate way too much. It was nice to get caught up with distant relitives but we agreed we need to start to do it under different circumstance. Back home and back to school work. Cold front moved in and now. Came home and my house was freezing. I had to put my puppies in my shirt to keep them worm till the house heated up. I called my uncles and they had assured me it was still worm out. They had not let the dog out and so I also had to clean up a big mess. Now U do not know if I want them to continue to be my dog watchers. The big dog was outside and definately wanted in. She kept flipping till I let her in. It sure feels good to have her get that excited to see me.

Gave pupies their first bath and nail clipping at three weeks this week. Suprised me that their nails needed cutting already. Thay are healthy and fat lil. buggers. Momma dog is finally venturing out away from Kennel. Getting good use of my treadmill. Grandma is visiting tomorrow and we are suppose to paint on my house. She loves to paint so I will move some furniture and make coffee and let her go at it.

@GEMSTONE1952....I'm so sorry that you and your little dog are suffering through that nasty weather. I just can't imagine the pain and anguish that everyone is going through in that region. I donated to Red Cross because it's the only thing that I can do. That and say some prayers.
Green juice is vegetables and some fruit that you juice with a juicer. Not a smoothie that you blend. Here's a link to just one recipe (similar to what I had this morning). If you have a juicer, I highly recommend Jason Vale and Drew Canole for websites, books, recipes, etc. I love, love, love my juice (green, pink, orange, yellow...whatever color!). They are yummy!

Welcome LiveLife! No walk here today. We are in the midst of that East Coast Nor'easter. It's a cold, windy, snowy, sleety, rainy day. My little dog cowers at the thought of having to go out into it. He doesn't like to get wet but I think the wind is what is scaring him. He's a cute, pitiful little thing. He's actually not mine, but he is left with me for "dogsitting" while his owners, my son and DIL are working. I've had him since Sunday.
I'm envious that you had some nice weather and happy you were able to enjoy your walk. One question...what is "green juice"?

So, we survived "sandy" in SE Massachusetts. We are still getting the rains and drizzle from it but the wind is gone. What an amazing storm.
I've been pretty busy the past week and have had little time for me at all. I've been watching my grandson, my son's puppy and doing the mommy thing. My kids are all grown and out of the home for the most part. My youngest attends a college in the western part of the state 2 hours away. These past 2 weeks I have done three "spooky" activities with my kids and helped my DIL host a party at my house. I've done the Halloween camping contest (2nd place win for us) and Halloween parades. Today I have the grandson while my daughter is taking classes and later I will be greeting the little goblins for trick or treat. I am loving every minute of it, but my body is sore and achy from all the activity.

Unfortunately, I forget to do things for me. My eating habits and exercise have taken a hit, although the exercise has been a challenge since a year ago, summer when I fell and damaged my knee. I finally got the courage to see an orthopedist to get it taken care of. I got an injection in my knee and supposedly, after 4 weeks I should be good to go. It hasn't been a month yet and I have to wait to see him before I start the exercise. My appointment is Veterens day so that will be the day I ramp it up. I am babysitting today and I put the little one in the stroller and we went for a walk for about a mile. I will try to do another mile later after I have rested up the knee a bit. I started tracking my intake of food today to try to get that under control. I have confidence that I can get all this back under control because it really is my decision and the choices I make will determine the outcome and I don't quit.

Wow, seems everyone is BUSY. Yea, I have lost weight but do not know how much. My visit to Va really did me some good. I had a couple good free days and got some house painting done. It did not turn out the way i like. I used a different roller and it did not work as promissed. I will redo it later. New semester new subjects. a survey of the New Testiment and Church History. It will be a busy 8 weeks.
I had a break in. It was by a family member and in the mid. of the night no less, but I still pressed charges. It was all caught on 911. I need to replace a door and it took me hours to clean up. AAAAAH, I am one of those people who never do the wrong thing and cannot understand why others do. Grrrr. I do not like to argue and detest petty arguments. Fighting is out of the question. I would just as soon cut you out of my life than go to blows. I am not that type person. I completely respect others decisions and stay out of others buisness. I did not even tell anyone but seems like everyone knew when I got out of church. Of course they all wanted to know every detail. Bunch of gossips. They then tried to force me to stay someware else. They actually came to my house and packed an overnight bag even though I told them I was not going anyware. I refuse and just brought my dog in. She is 100lbs of rotwieler, pitbull, and chow mix with a mouth full of teath and super protective over me. She was happy to be let in sence she has not been in in months. She was in my uncles big yard with other dogs.

Good Afternoon. I've been washing clothes this morning. I had to run to the post office to mail off a birthday present for a close friend. Then I had to stop at the store and pick up a couple things. Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday.

Hello everyone,
Hope you're all having a terrific Saturday. It's the coolest day here so far for Autumn but a really nice change. Only going to reach 82 degrees for a high today and only up to mid 80's the next 7 days and lows in the upper 50's. For Florida, that's really nice. We had a very long and hot Summer.
Going to be heading to the library in about a hour to pick up a bunch of books I requested.
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

I like busy as much as anyone can, but sometimes it is a lot. My new grandson is growing well and his "mom and dad" are growing into their new roles quite well. I get calls from both my daughter and son-in-law looking for advice and I love that I can help them the same way my mother-in-law helped guide me. It's kinda nice.
I haven't been to see my philly family since August and I miss them, but it is because I have been so busy, which sounds awful but it has been a business of trying to spend time with my adult children, as they need me. My DD needed me during the final weeks of her pregnancy and the first week after they got home. I also tried to spend time with my 2nd son and daughter (DIL actually) and managed that and we also spent some time with my son up in college in the western part of the state and then of course, we are working so that takes up some time too. Our weekends are booked through the end of October and pretty much all of it is family oriented which is good. Recently we got a call from my Brother-in-Law that he was in a car accident (a serious one). He expects that he will be alright, but it will take several months. He was in a head on collision with a driver who fell asleep at the wheel and hit him at a very high speed. My BIL said he had to be removed with the "jaws of life" and that he was also glad his airbags all deployed and that he had been traveling at a very low speed (the speed limit was 25MPH). He had some surgery on his back the day after the injury. Modern medicine is incredible. He said that it was a microsurgery to repair 2 vertebrae and it was done via an incision through his throat. Amazing!
We are trying to find a day to drive up to see him. He lives 7-8 hours away but it would have to be a "day trip" so we'd leave early in the AM, drive up to see him in the hospital, visit for an hour or two and then drive home. That's a lot of hours on the road.
This weekend we are heading off for our yearly Halloween contest/camping weekend. My kids (except the college one) are going to come up to visit with us so that is really exciting!
Next weekend a football game and visit with my college son is in the offing. I don't actually like football, but I do like to watch my "tuba" son play in the band. I'm a proud parent of a member of the UMASS Minuteman Marching Band, the Power and Class of NewEngland. The following weekend I am co-hosting a party with my son and DIL at my home and going with my DD and her husband to "SpookyWorld". The following weekend, I am hoping to make it to Philly and then more football the following weekend.
On a personal note, I am rather proud of myself for finally see an orthopedist to try to fix my knee. I injured it in a fall about 1 1/2 years ago. I tried every conservative treatment I could come up with and nothing worked. My PC recommended the Ortho over a year ago because he felt a knee injection might be the cure. I was too afraid of the needle. I've heard such terrible things about the pain. My family all said to just do it. I've been hobbled for 1 1/2 years so I went, just for a consult, I thought. The Ortho was great! So reassuring that when he encouraged me to get the shot, i did it. I am hobbled now worse than I was but each day the knee feels better. He said it could take up to a month for the full benefit so I am being patient (not a virtue I am blessed with). Anyways, that's my October. What's yours looking like?
