Hello to you Wifeofbob (love that name). Sounds like you have a plan. Good luck. I think my husband probably wishes he left me home when he goes shopping too. I have this bad habit called "impulse shopping".

Wanted to give a big hello to everyone. Today has gone ok. My eating could have been a little better but it's been a lot worst so I'm not going to complain. Can't wait to stock up on the vegetables I need to get this eating plan set up so I won't be doomed from the start. My husband has a way of throwing the kabash to things so I'll have to really be on my toes come grocery day. He likes going with me and sometimes I really wish he'd just stay home.

Thank you! They are doing well. My daughter is tired as expected and trying to establish a routine. It's hard becoming a parent for the first time. Not that subsequent children are any easier, but at least after the 1st you have some sort of routine set up and the house is already "baby ready. "

Spent a good part of today with the new family unit, my daughter, her husband and their baby boy. My SIL is a pretty amazing father already. He's a big guy and when he put his hand (paw?) next to his son, his son was only twice a long as his dad's hand. I watched as my SIL requested that the nurse teach him to swaddle his son and change his diapers. The nurse said it was rare for a dad to ask to change diapers. My daughter chose a good guy. She looks so tired but she also looks happy. I told her that she is now a member of a special "club"...she is a mom. Life is new and life is good.
Now I can get some rest.

Amanda, not a bad idea at all. Glad you are enjoying your time!

Baby Announcement: My 4th grandson was born today. He is a healthy 7lb1oz bundle of joy. He is the first child for my daughter and her husband. It's been a long couple of weeks.

The podiatrist said I must not walk. I don't see him again until 10/24. Bummer. I was doing so well. Well I'll get back and do some wacky walking in a few.

Ah, Yes, my friends wedding was AWSOME. They are now touring the med. I have had two weeks back in Va. and have been too busy with friends to go see my house. I shall do it this week. I will do it this week, I think. I am staying with some awsome friends with a really lovely house in a verry nice neaghborjood. I can run outside and not have to worry about traaffic. I have pool at this house or several friends houses to use and a lake. I have coffee and tea apointments. I have dinnerdates and play dates. I love visiting. I am still keeping up with my school work.

Good Morning Everyone. Hope you're all having a great Thursday.
I've been busy this morning cleaning out our catch all spare bedroom. It's where all Bob's woodworking stuff goes when he's too lazy to take it back out to the work shop. It's our "garage" so to speak, to store our yard sale items as we get them. But it had gotten to the point where you couldn't walk inside the door and finding anything was impossible. So I cleaned it up and organized it so now "I" know where everything is. If Bob wants something out of there, if he tells me what he wants, I can go right to it. Otherwise he'll have to look a little.

Morning Everyone,
I got out this morning and did my walk then did some yard work/ gardening. Our neighbor next door moved and our landlord bought the house so he said I could go over and get any of the potted plants she had left if I wanted them. I got the ones I could and one huge one he'll bring over for me as I can't manage it myself. He has my hubby building shutters for the house and that'll give us a little extra money. Bob is a master woodcrafter and the landlord has had him make things for him many, many times. The landlord provides all the wood and nails, screws, etc. Bob just builds them and he gets paid for the labor. So it works out for both of them. With Bob's heart condition, he can only work about 2 hours a day but it gives him something to look forward to each day, instead of sitting around watching TV all day.
I doubt he'll be out more than 2 hours today. It's extremely humid outside.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday.

Two posts in a row on the same thread for me. Who'd a thunk it? I had an interesting and unique way to get some exercise today. Cardio and strength at the same time and I want to share. First off, a caution like they have for some of those "thrill" reality shows....."Do not attempt to do this at home". You'll understand in a moment. Today was laundry day...well, everyday is laundry day but today was different. I put it in the washing machine and then when about taking care of my other chores (including chatting with my DD). I like to multi-task. Periodically I listened to see if the washing machine was done but I heard the water running in the machine so I kept doing other chores. I lose track of time while I am busy multi-tasking so I wasn't really attending to the fact that the water was running a really long time. Finally, after I had finished most of my chores and patting myself on the back for getting so much done before the wash had even finished, I went to check on it to see how much longer it had to go. I noticed it was past the spin cycle and still filling with water and I figured my DH had somehow turned on the button for extra rinse, but no, that wasn't it. I then saw water pouring from under the machine and streaming down through my basement which is where my machine is. I opened it up and it was overflowing! I tried to turn it off, but the water kept flowing. I grabbed the nearest bucket and started bailing the water out of the machine tub but the water was continuing to come in fast. I got the water down a bit and ran to the recycling bin for newpapers to sop up the flood waters. The water continued to flow. I pulled the plug. It kept flowing. I had to keep bailing. I'd fill a bucket with water and run it outside to toss and repeat....over and over again. I tried to figure out how to just shut off the water but I couldn't find the right valves and I had little time to search because the water just kept flowing in and I had to keep bailing. I turned off the well to my house. The water kept flowing because I have a tank that needs to empty first. I called my husband....numerous times to see if he could tell me where the blasted shut off valves were located. I tried to create a siphon to just have the water flow out of the house but all I ended up with was a mouthful of dirty laundry water. I failed at the siphon even though I have siphoned water from a pool, my water tank, my water bed...and I taught my husband how to do it! So I went back to bailing. Finally my husband called and talked my through finding the shut off valves. I couldn't quite reach the valves enough to close them off completely, even after getting a ladder and climbing on top of the machine. But, the water slowed its flow.It didn't stop but at least I could bail faster than it filled. I was soaked with sweat and laundry water. I put up a clothes line and grabbed the soaked laundry (towels mostly) and put them in a basket and sloshed my way outside. I put up a clothesline and hung out the laundry. The basket was incredibly heavy due to the weight of the water in the towels and I had to make several adjustments to the clothesline tension to keep the laundry off the ground. My husband came home about 2 hours later and was able to close the valve the rest of the way. We are getting it repaired tomorrow. My back and shoulders are aching now but the laundry is dry and the floor is drying. I think I got my exercise in today. emoticon

My daughter is still a "lady in waiting" but her sister-in-law gave birth to a baby boy yesterday. I read an interesting little article in the Op-ed section of our local newpaper today. Apparently today is the day that has the highest number of birthdays in the country. I told my daughter and she had a good chuckle at that one. She has 2 weeks to go to reach her due date. She's had a lot of contractions but so far, they haven't progressed to the birth of her son. I keep telling her that they are not "false", they just don't lead to birth yet but they are all part of the process. She had her final ultrasound last week and the baby is close to 7 lbs now and looking good so now we wait. I'm excited.
Took advantage of the beautiful day today and went for a walk on a "rail to trail" path. Not too hot of cold and just a bit of a breeze. Leaves are showing a bit of their autumn color now and I think my hummingbird has left for the year to return next spring. All is as it should be.

Today was bill and grocery shopping day for us and I've been on my feet for over 5 hours straight walking. We were actually out over 8 hours but I walked 5 of those hours. I'll be sore tomorrow for sure. Getting ready to go soak in a bubblebath and see if that'll help any.

My daughter (and her sister-in-law) both made it through the baby shower Sunday and continue to be "ladies in waiting". My daughter is due in 21 days, her sister-in-law is due on Thursday. Apparently the SIL usually ends up going late (this is her 4th) so they could end up going together. Should be interesting! The shower went well and my house is back in order (more or less). The rains held off on Saturday long enough for me to hear my marching tuba son do his thing with the band. I can't afford to go to the football games to watch the shows, as least not as often as I could before they moved the games from the college to Gillette Stadium. The Kraft family donated the use of the stadium and facilities to the college for their use while the college is building a larger facility but the cost to see a game went up considerably so I have to wait for video taken by parents who attended the games to see the band perform. I am not a football fan and a good number of people who go to see the games are not really interested in the game either. They go to see the band. The stands remain filled after the teams have left and the band plays "5th quarter". I've seen a video from this past weekend....they don't have the entire show yet, but what they did was the Power and Class of NewEngland vintage so I'm happy.
(Changing) Vicki, I hope your hand heals quickly or that you at least find a way to get more help to speed the healing process.
(Admiral) Vicki, I thought of you this weekend during the baby shower. I was getting out some bowls to put snack (junk) food in and I pulled out my Holland Michigan bowl, complete with the dutch windmill design under the logo. I had forgotten I had that and I also found my little china dutch clogs in my curio cabinet while dusting. Hope you and your sweetie had a restful weekend. I DID avoid the snack (junk) food this time!
Manda...I'm waiting to post about that little boy's birth too! My DD thinks she can't sleep now....She thinks once the boy is born she will sleep better.....don't think so. emoticon But she will have company while she is awake.

The fluid pills didn't help because I found I'm allergic to anything with sulfer in it and most fluid pills are sulfer related. I still have a little swelling in the top of my hand and I'm beginning to think it's because of how tight the plates in my wrist were screwed in. I hope I'm wrong.

You sound busy and with a bum wrist too. I hope the pills worked. My leg was injured 2 1/2 yrs ago and is still swollen. Fluid pills did not help me, nor anti-inflamatories. The x-rays say that it healed fine it just has alot of fluid.

Have fun at the pregame. I am waiting to read about a sweet lil. thing wrapped in a blanket and getting to cuddle with grandma.

Glad you are injoying the new house.

I am heading to Va for a visit twith friends and a wedding. I will be there for two to three weeks. I got my treadmil in my house now. I can run and not worry about traffic. It is will be a busy couple weeks and I am excited for them to get started. My grass is almost up to my knees. In the last month I have mowed twice. It grows crazy fast. I will try to get it mowed befpre I leave.

Hi everyone! It's nice to catch up on what's going on in the threads. We've continued to enjoy our new house and the western Michigan area. We are so thankful to God today because we have a contract on our condo in Virginia! We were going to rent it out through the fall and winter, but now we won't have to do that. What a relief!

My weight has crept up because of eating out too much and not enough exercise, but I'm certain I'll get it down where I want it to be. Just takes time...and staying away from desserts every night! emoticon

Patty, exciting times for you, Mom and Grandma! How did the shower go and did both daughters survive it? What course are you teaching? And how's the DS tuba player doing?

Time for me to mow the lawn, getting my cardio in by doing that today. Got soup made for dinner tonight, then I'm baking cookies to mail to our college GS in Virginia. Have to make them a day earlier now that we're so far from him (Grandpa doesn't mind though since he's the quality control inspector).

Have a great day, everyone!

Good luck Amanda.
Vicki, hope you feel better soon. A short re-adjustment time and you will be back on track.
My daughter is 3 weeks from her due date now and has been having a lot of contractions. Her baby shower is tomorrow and I've been incredibly busy. I've been retired for several years but I am teaching a course this semester. Today I'm heading to Patriot's place to see my son. He attends UMASS, Amherst and is a "tuba" in the band. UMASS is playing all its home games for the next several years in Foxboro's Gillette Stadium (where the Patriot's play) while they (UMASS) builds a new stadium up in Amherst. It's a 2+ hour ride for the team and band, but it's a 10 minute ride for me (if there is traffic). I can't afford the games at $30+ a seat, but I can go and watch the pre-game show, the pep band performances before the game and the parade into the stadium. It was considerably less expensive up at UMASS so I used to go up to all the games and I could watch the entire show. I haven't seen my son in about 3 weeks since he went back to the college so I'm excited to see him today. I feel like a 'groupie" hanging around the "mall" to catch a glimpse of a member of a band. emoticon It's gonna be a busy weekend!

August was a rough month for me and I ate things that were easier for me to handle since cooking was difficult with a broken wrist ( my dominate hand). So I ate things not so healthy. Add two birthdays within 10 days of each other and the scale numbers have been creeping up. Tomorrow is my normal weigh in day and I fully expect to see an increase.
Also I had been using fluid pills to help get rid of excess fluid, especially in my hand and wrist, so it wouldn't ache so much, and I've stopped using them ( I'm not supposed to take fluid pills as I'm allergic to sulfer drugs and most fluid pills have sulfer in them). So I know since stopping them my body is going to over compensate for a few days so my weight will really be up. But after a few days I know it'll re-adjust and get back to normal.

It is a wonder that Babies seem to come in pairs. It will make for a good couple of years. I am headed for Va. for a wedding. It will be awsome. I will then work at the ship-yards for a week. Have not worked for a year now. It will be interesting to get up early again. Wish me luck.

My daughter's contractions finally backed off after 2 1/2 days. She is "due" in 28 days. Time will tell if she will make it. At least she got a taste of the process which is good. She is no longer nervous about it and says she finally understands what I meant when I said it is easier to accept and embrace the contractions rather than fighting them. They will happen whether you fight them or not and in the end, you get a nice gift after all that work. She's ready now. We are all hoping the baby stays in and "cooks" a little longer though. emoticon
Her baby shower is next Sunday so he should wait until after the shower to make his appearance. My Daughters sister-in-law is due in 3 weeks and she is coming to the shower. Hopefully they both make it past next week.

Yes, My friend is a treasure. I am still on my first year of school. I have an advantage. I got half my required credits from my training in the Navy. This cuts my schooling in half. I am useing my G.I.Bill so everything is paid for.

Glad to hear you and your sweety are getting setled in and like your neighborhood Admiral.
Gym. Hope all goes well with the burthing. How exiting to have a new baby in your life.

Lake Michigan is beautiful. I remember the first time I saw it. It looked so much like the ocean with the waves that it was hard to believe that it was a freshwater lake. It must feel wonderful to be finally settled in and to establish a new routine. Glad to hear your sweetie is doing well.
I'm still waiting for my daughter to give birth. She is due october 1st, but she has been having contractions since yesterday mid day. So far they are unproductive, but they are real contractions apparently. The hospital monitor confirmed that. My daughter is "nesting" tonight and calling me on the phone often so I am staying near the phone and staying awake. She is considering coming to my home tonight to wait out the contractions. We live closer to the hospital than she does and her husband is going to be away tomorrow during much of the day. It is his sisters birthday and he is going to celebrate with is family. My daughter is too uncomfortable with the contractions so she said she will stay with us so she will not be alone if she the contractions continue to intensify and she has to return to the hospital. She has already been advised 2x by the Doctors to go and be rechecked at the hospital but she has declined to do so. I expect she is doing what is right at this point.

Hi everyone! We are moved, settling in at a good pace, no boxes on the main level, and I now am able to cook again. It feels so good to be preparing healthy meals after a month of going out for meals. We took our first tandem bicycle ride yesterday evening and it's different here, but the trails are good and continuous. We hope to ride to Lake Michigan soon; it's not far, maybe five miles or so from our house.

Tired, but a good tired. My sweetie is doing great, and he's perched in front of the TV waiting for the Michigan State game to begin. emoticon It's his undergraduate school, so he's wearing green and white. Gotta go!

Patty, are you a new grandmother yet?

Have a great holiday weekend, everybody!

I'm glad to hear that at least you still have your mom's pearls. Good that your friend found them and packed them safely away. Hope your school term went well. Do you have a lot more school to go or are you done? Enjoy the scraping and painting. I was doing the same about a month ago, helping my daughter set up a baby room in her house. This was to have been the year that we did my house, but we decided her needs took priority and the room looks really good. I also love the sound of the thunder....not so thrilled with the lightning, unless it is in a distance, but when the lightning and thunder are simultaneous and the house shakes, I don't like the thunder so much either! But generally, I think most weather is awesome!

School is done and I am free for the next week. I moved into my house and have unpacked almost everything. In may, I returned to my house in Virginia to find my house there had beed broken into and I could not find my jewelry box. Yesterday, while unpacking I found it safely packed away. My mom died in 2009 and wore perls at her funeral. I thought they were lost forever. My dear friend had packed them with all the stuff from the hall clauset when she noticed I had left the box out. God bless her. They had Mom's perls, and all other missing jewelry. So happy right now. Just got internet up and running and will comence to start scraping and painting the external tomorrow or the next day. All is good news here. Weather is hot but not unusually and cool afternoons. T-storms an=lmost every afternoon and my new house seems to collect the sound of thunder. It is awsome.

The heat wave has ended here so now it is time for us to travel to the heat. Heading south to visit family and friends and of course, Mickey. I will have limited connectivity but will check in from time to time. Stay active...but stay cool!

Hello, Hello, Hello. The baby room is finally ready for the grandson! It came out looking a whole lot better than any of us expected. My husband is amazing with the plaster and putty knife. He filled in the holes so well that unless one looks very closely, you could hardly tell where the holes were in the first place. I am covered with varying shades of blue and green paint and lots of white trim paint. The stuff is "water soluble" but apparently it is not that when it is on skin and in clothes. I was smart and wore gloves when doing the sponge painting. It does look good! Now on to planning the shower and packing up for our upcoming summer vacation and the trip to visit the giant rodent of Florida.
Vicki, I hope the weather continues to improve so you can get outside without baking! The news on your sweetie continues to be positive and that is fantastic! I'llbet he is delighted to be getting back to normal life again (whatever normal is). If you come up with a way to avoid boredom eating, let me in on your secret. It's my downfall.
MBC, welcome. I'll be over for dinner!

Hi Team,
I'm in the process of cooking two huge fresh ham shoulders in the oven this morning. One is for us, the other is for our landlord. They'll be cooking for about 4-1.2 hours or so. Going to make the house smell like Christmas. LOL!

Hi everyone! It looks like we're finally going to get a break in the heat! A thunderstorm system is going through the area (a much nicer one than that monster storm last week) and cooler temperatures are behind it. Yay! We're all so fed up with the 100+ temperatures and humidity around here.

My sweetie and I went on a tandem bike ride yesterday morning and went out for breakfast while it was still "cool". He's SO happy to be back riding again and I'm just thrilled with how well he's doing. I had a baby shower to attend as well; it's always fun to see what the mommy gets. There's so many adorable baby items these days! The shower wasn't good for my nutrition though - whoa, cream puffs, quiches and chocolate cake. Oh well.

If the weather truly cools off tomorrow, I'm looking forward to getting back to my neighborhood walks. emoticon My sweetie leaves for a quick business trip in Florida tomorrow afternoon so I'll be on my own for a couple of days. I need to come up with a plan to keep from eating for comfort while he's gone. It's always hard for me because eventually I do have to be at home and I seem to have a "talent" for finding something to munch even when I don't keep snacky foods in our home.

Well, I'll figure something out. In the meantime, have a great evening!

Hi everyone! I hope you're staying cool and drinking your water! It's still hot here and I've been exercising inside instead of walking. The air quality is just yuckers here while it's hot. So, the latest news is that my sweetie is now wearing pantyhose...well, okay, it's actually a compression leg stocking, but it looks like one-legged pantyhose! It's wonderful that he now doesn't look like the Mummy with all of that wrapping around his leg. You can hardly tell he has something on the leg - awesomeness!

Patty, I could absolutely not, never, ever survive without air conditioning. When our power was off last weekend, we went to our daughter's house when the temperature got to 80 in our condo. I just can't function, the brain shuts down, I literally hibernate! Boy, I can understand the hold on finishing your house project; everyone is going through "cash flow" problems these days. I enjoyed reading about your family friend - what a precious, special relationship that is for you and your family! What a blessing! Jeepers (now when's the last time you heard THAT word?!), your DDIL and you still have a LOT to get done for the nursery! Not to mention the shower - no moss growing on the bottom of your tootsies, that's for sure!

Okay, I'm packing it in for the evening. Spent the day museuming in the District and the walk and ride on the subway to get home just about did me in. Thinking cool thoughts of three feet of snow and a warm parka in Michigan in January... emoticon G'night!

Vicki....I have just one word and a few "emoticons" for you. WOW, emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon You have been a busy couple, you and your sweetie! I'm happy to hear that all is going well and life is returning to "normal" (whatever that is).
JMorris, we've had that heat here and it is unbearable. We do not have air conditioning in my home. My DH and I long ago decided we liked the fresh air. While I am rethinking that position, my DH is not, so I guess we will continue to survive without air conditioning. I run a lot of fans and I sit in front of them. Not so great for the activity. I don't mind the heat if it is a dry heat and not higher than the mid 90's, but when the dewpoints are in the 70's, anything over 80 is too much for me. I feel like I am drowning when I take a breath.
Anyway, our house renovation project is on an indefinite hold for now. Financial issues have reared their ugly heads. We are experiencing a "cash flow" problem and a "time flow" issue. We just said goodbye to our house guest, a dear friend of nearly 40 years. She moved to Utah 30 or so years ago so it was great having her here for a week and a part. During her visit, we drove her down to Philly to visit with my son family. My children grew up knowing her as "auntie" and now my son's children call her auntie as well. The 6 yo was asking her how she was related and she explained it beautifully. My grandsons adore her as much as my children did.
Now that "auntie" has returned home, we are back to the house work. We are almost done with the prepping of the wall in my daughters house and will be ready to paint soon. One more sanding of the wall and another primer layer and then we move to patch and repair the baseboards, prime them and finally put on the base color layers of paint. Once that is done, we proceed to the hand sponge painting and stenciling. We have 3 weeks before we leave for our summer vacation so hopefully it will be completed by then. I am also planning my daughters baby shower with her mother-in-law and my daughter's girlfriends. Busy times. Baby is due October 1st so the time is coming up fast. Lots to do.
I wish all on this team a Happy Independence Day or a wonderful July 4th! Hope you find a place to stay cool and that your weather is fantastic for all manner of activities!

Good morning, Team! It's hot here and the area is still recovering from the horrid storm that came through Friday evening leaving over 2 million people with no power. It's much better now, but still lots of people without electricity; power companies are working as fast as they can as well as the tree removal companies. Whew.

Happy Fourth of July! The national celebration in DC is still on; some towns have cancelled their celebrations because of the ongoing recovery from Friday's storm. Since we're moving next month (gasp), my sweetie wants to spend one last holiday down on the National Mall listening to the National Symphony Orchestra play at the foot of the Capitol Building and see the fireworks show. I'm not so thrilled about going because it's going to be HOT and the subway trains are always packed like sardines afterwards...but I see his point.

He's doing GREAT. We began physical therapy last month, I've been trained to give him lymphatic massages every day and to wrap his leg up to keep swelling down. It's WORKING - he has an almost normal leg again! So exciting! He's now supposed to be fitted with a full leg compression stocking that he'll have to wear every day. At night, he gets the massage and wrapped up for sleep. It's a lot to deal with, but he's such a good sport. He's also BIKING again! Woohoo! Not for long, but just to get in shape for tandem bike riding again. So excited about that as well!

On the housing/moving front, we were approved for a home equity loan that will guarantee our house closing in Michigan next month. Our condo is still on the market, had a few showings. The good news is that we don't have to wait for it to sell in order to buy the house we loved in Michigan. We can close on it, move in, and continue to have the Virginia condo on the market until it sells. We're relieved and excited about moving!

Patty, you must be burning some major calories doing all of that house renovation plus helping your DDIL with the nursery! How's your throat recovery going? I'll bet those videos of the sky jump were amazing! There's no way I'd jump out of a perfectly functioning airplane...maybe not even a non-functioning one - I'm terrified of heights! I had no idea that paintball left bruises! That doesn't sound like fun to me either, but I know there are 30-somethings that still enjoy playing it.

JMORRIS, I can't imagine being further south with the extra heat and humidity right now - it's bad enough in Virginia! I agree that the combination just takes away all of one's energy. I love to go walking through my neighborhood, but I'm not doing my walks in this heat. I'm walking with Leslie Sansone instead! Do you have an indoor mall where you and your friends can walk?

Sorry for the lengthy post - a lot is going on! emoticon Have a great day!

The heat in Macon, GA on Saturday set a new record. It was 108. I live in Dexer, GA, and it was only one or two degrees cooler here. It feels like the heat is zapping all of the energy out of me. For the last two days it has been too hot for me and my three friends to go on our afternoon walk. I wound up only doing my physical therapy on Friday and really missed the walk. That is our girl time.

The "stickies" are finally gone and the weather today is seasonable! I was up at 6am to take my son and his friend paintballing. I have never gone paintballing and while it interests me, I am going to pass on it for now. I've seen the huge black and blue bruises on my sons and daughter-in-law. Yesterday my son and daughter-in-law went skydiving. The invited me to watch. I passed on that one. I told them I would probably cry and that if one of them died, I would kill the other one! The have films of the jump (done by the skydiving company). Looks like they had a great time. The look on my sons face as the plane door opened and he was told to dangle his legs out the door was precious, but not nearly as good as the one when he fell (jumped?) out the door. He said he had a great time, but probably won't do it again.

I'm glad to hear he is doing well and healing and that you found a house in Holland. Hopefully you will be able to sell the VA property soon. We've been busy, busy here. It's been horrendously hot and sticky and we've been working with my daughter trying to get the "nursery" finished before we leave for vacation. So far we've stripped 4+ layers of old wallpaper off and put on a coat of primer. My DH patched the holes (lots of them) in the walls. We've done the first "sanding" and have to do two more patch/sand cycles and then another primer. The ceiling is now painted and the bottom half of the walls (paneling) are cleaned and ready for patching, sanding and painting. Went to help my daughter with her baby registry today. I am exhausted! I've been remiss with the proper eating and my exercise is the work I am doing on the house. What we do is all about choices and right now I am choosing to help my daughter. I'll have time to get back on MY track in a few weeks when I go off on vacation. Stay cool everyone!

Hi everyone! It's been crazy busy for me this month - we found a house in Holland, MI this month, had our offer accepted, came back to Virginia, learned the buyer of our condo was backing out, and it's been a scramble putting our place on the market and getting it ready to show potential buyers. Yikes. Then I caught a horrendous cold and haven't had felt any energy at all this week. Oh well. It's all temporary. We have one showing so far, hoping our place sells quickly so we can still keep the Michigan closing date.

My sweetie is doing great - he's been released by the oncology surgeon for three months and now getting physical therapy for his swollen leg. I massage it once a day and now wrap it so that there's a slight compression on the leg to help the lymphatic fluid circulate instead of pooling. It's still a healing process, he's not allowed to ride a real bike yet. Probably won't until the swollen leg improves.

Nutrition hasn't been good, neither has the exercise this month. I'm not giving up, but realizing that there's just a whole lot of shaking going on right now. Every day is a new beginning! emoticon

good morning to you Vicki...
It's going to be a hot day tomorrow. We are continuing to work on setting up a nursery for our future grandson. Tomorrow is the day to remove the rest of the old layers of wallpaper and then washing the walls to remove the rest of the paste. My DH and DD will be patching up the holes in the walls and then we put on the first layer of primer. If all goes well, on Thursday we do the "skim coating", which is refinishing the walls with a new coat of plaster. Then another coat of primer and finally the paint. My DD isn't due until October, but she really wants to get the nursery ready early. We've never done wall refinishing and are using youtube for directions. It's an ambitious project and plenty of work (aka activity).
Vicki, keep up the great work and keep posting. I was out of state for the past few days or I would have responded sooner. Welcome to the team!

Bentley (My puppy charge) has gone home today but will be back later. My son and DIL are adopting the little guy today. He will no longer be a shelter dog. He will be a pet! He's an active guy and exhausting! I actually miss him right now.
My son is allergic to animal fur, as am I but I grew up with having a dog and I had one pretty consistently until my last one passed when she was 19years old. I just haven't been able to bring myself to get another. I really miss my angel pets. SO I will enjoy Bentley. My son says he wants Bentley to feel like my home is also his home so I suspect I will be puppy sitting often. The other reason for not having another dog for us is that we do travel a great deal and are just not prepared to take a pet that requires so much attention "on". I do have a pet bearded dragon now, but that is all. We had all sorts of pets during the years my children were growing up. Snakes, hedgehog, birds, fish, lizards, hermit crabs, dog, chinchilla, hamsters, mice.....all sorts of critters. Now, just my dragon. She's pretty cool and quite tame and gentle.
Beautiful day here today and I plan to spend a lot of it outdoors. Next week visiting the grandkids! The trip to get to them is long but well worth it. They grow up so fast and are such amazing creatures. But then, so are my children. They are all grown now and all but one of them married and in their own households. Fortunately, all but one of them lives within an easy drive distance. The one that is far away is the one with the 3 children. Looking forward to the fall when I get to welcome another grandchild and this one will not live so far away. That will be nice!

I love dogs but can't be around them. I'm allergic to all animals.
