Patty, tell your husband to stay where he's at. Swamp land weather's just not worth the switch. Give me a cool, crisp, Northern day any time.

Now, if our Southern kind of winter would stay year-round, it would be great! I LOVE the winters down here. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Patty, you are kidding me! Sugar, carb, AND fat free? Okay, even on my severely restricted and crazily different diet, that sounds like something I could have. WOO HOO!! Me thinks this weekend will find David and I at the new Starbucks in town!

Dorthy, I've tried the packets of Green Tea. They were great. But now I can't have the darn artificial sweeteners, except for saccharin...iiiiccckkkk...so no more Crystal Light packets for me. :(

LadyAnwyn, What the hey is Ren and Stimpy?

Here's one for ya all.

Gloom, dispair, and agony on me,
Deep dark depression
Excessive misery
If I didn't have bad luck
I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on mmmmmeeeeeee!

Now that's not a cheery ditty, but it's a funny flash to the past if you remember where it's from.

Oh my have I missed the conversations going on here.. for some reason I didn't get any email..:(

I have always had a hard time with the water, but I started numbering my bottles in the morning and then before I drink anyother liquids I have to finish at least 3 bottles.
Has anyone tried the green tea indvidual packages for bottle water. (like crystal lite) They are flavored also?

SIZE 8 how wonderful.. Congrats! I don't believe that I would be able to get that far. I can't remember ever being a 14. So that would be a exciting for me.

We are suppose to get some relief from the humidity on Thursday. Can't wait

Hey Lauren,
I'm sending the heat back to you. I wanted to bring back a bit of Disney with me but the heat and thunder wasn't what I had in mind. You can keep it. I'll take my natural "air conditioning" any day. It was still a hot and sticky day here today in Massachusetts. We got some small relief from the thunder and rain in the pm (sound familiar?). It's still a bit sticky but cooler at 56 degrees than it has been. How do I spell relief? Massachusetts!

What can I say? I am a native NewEngland girl and probably always will be. My husband, on the other hand, would love to move someday to a warmer climate.

Lauren,
I definitely think Starbucks is worth the effort-I just found it this past spring and once I discovered there was a store within biking distance, I dusted off the bike and discovered a "new" exercise I could add to my repertoire and get a reward each time I did it. "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy"
okay, here's a challenge--who knows where the "happy, happy, joy, joy" statement originated? (no fair asking your kids) emoticon

Think about it over a nice cup of flavored coffee. Starbucks makes a great sugar, fat and carb free vanilla syrup. MMMMMMMMMMMM

Hehe, I had the hardest time getting rid of the soda...hardest if I was out somewhere cause it was just habit to pick up a coke or whatever. And well the water thing did not come easy to me either. I ended up having to add crystal light to it. I like the strawberry tangerine banana one the best so far. I was mixing one tub of it with 64 ounces to start but after drinking it a few weeks along with another 32-64 ounces of just plain water.it eventually began to taste too sweet for me so now I water it down some more. All the better if you ask me.

Patty, just saw your post. Glad you made it back home safe and sound. So you brought the Florida weather home with you...ehhh? Well, come back and get more, you didn't take enough of it, cause it's still HOT here! Heeheehee....EEEKKKK...it has to stop soon! Doesn't it?

Okay, now tell me. You go bike riding to get Starbucks Coffee. That's got to mean only one thing, that it's worth the ride. Is it? I've never had it. Should I try it? What am I missing?

Oh Lilly, I envy you! HOW did you get such a liking for water? When I was a kid, we lived in the country in the Pocono Mountains, Pa, and we had water from an Artesian well. Now THAT was water! But since moving to Florida 25 years ago, water is so yucky tasting. And I've tried the bottled ones too, and I just can't find one that tastes good to me. Now soda, I WAS a big soda addict. Not anymore. I'm on a specialized diet for IBD patients, and soda is a no-no...well...let me rephrase that. You're allowed one diet soda a week. PLEASE, that's like sitting a bowl of candy in front of a child and then telling them they can have an 1/8'th of a piece. Why bother! So, I haven't had a soda in a month. And proud of it!

Oh yes, you're still talking my language...Herbal Tea...Constant Comment...ahhhh...have you ever tried it? It is so delicious...but I still won't give up my coffee. See, I can have the best of both worlds!

And Sharon, I've snuck my coffee into the fridge, cause my hubby thinks I'm whacked to drink it cold, and when he catches me, he ribs me for a day about it. This from the guy who used to eat Spam COLD! ICK...ICK...ICK!

Tonya, green tea is really delicious. I finally found a brand that I loved, and it made drinking it a pleasure! Now the water, hmmmm...that's another matter. I get it down, but I just can't say that I really love the darn stuff. Except when I'm hot and sweaty from exercising. Then I'll slug it down like it's honey.

AahhhahaHA!!! Veggies for you, coffee for me...hmmmm. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me woman. Better yet, how about some great herbal tea? I mean, I can only do about one maybe two cups of coffee per day. I like herbal teas - and water! Good cold water with my electrolytes (homeopathic) with some lemon or grapefruit or lime...keeps me better hydrated and cool.

I've know a lot of people who don't like soda. I don't really care for it anymore but just 'once in a blue moon.' I've also known a lot of people who drink mostly only water...hot or cold.

I have to agree about the doughnut....

I love coffee. Every time I try and give it up I always return to it. I am not sure why I enjoy it so much but I will even drink it cold if I have too...

I traded the coffee habit for green tea and lots of water. Was not the easiest thing to do but after you get used to it not so bad.

I really don't drink coffee. I drink lots and lots of water. Sometimes I drink Arizona Tea, but I try to avoid them because they have way too much sugar. I do not and have not drank soda for over 3 years and very seldom drink anything but water.

It drives people nuts that I only want water. They just don't understand.

That just leaves more water for me :)

Rut-ro. I went to the grocery today. Whilst there, I bought a doughnut. Of course it was chocolate-frosted custard. Of course when I got home (after my lunch though) I ate it with yet another cuppa joe. Ah, but it tasted good!

That was my dose of sweet-and-not-healthful that will hold me for quite a while.

I also bought fresh fruit. The fresh vegetables are here, with more to come from my fiancée from our garden on his farm.

Sorry, Lauren, but the other day I had a Dunkin' Donuts coffee and remembered why I was quitting coffee. I did, however, get that long-distance cuppa yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since my fiancée was coming over last evening, he brought me a small bag o' beans. Today I had that one good cup of coffee.

OH MY GOODNESS...I'M IN HEAVEN!! We just had a mug of steaming hot and deeeelllliiiccciiiouuusss Dunkin Donuts coffee! When we went grocery shopping yesterday, right after we left the gym (Yep, we made it to the gym!), we found Dunkin Donut coffee on sale at Publix! Much less than you pay for it in their donut stores. Almost 3 dollars less! Yippee...and it is sooooo good! I'm already knowing I'm going to cry when that bag of coffee is gone! Ahhhh... emoticon

I'm back home now and it is just as hot (well almost) as Florida. I don't have air conditioning at home and I was thinking of going for a bike ride to starbucks tomorrow morning. It may be a bit too warm I am thinking. It's about 15 miles round trip--I may have to settle for making it myself. I do love a good cup of coffee. See, I was writing about coffee, and you were all wondering what going home had to do about coffee.

I am out of coffee! Three days now. emoticon

I don't NEED coffee, but I WANT coffee.

I'm drinking tea, but it's not the same. I am NOT drinking soda! That's a huge plus.

Walking last week was pretty much out the window. as was food tracking. I had migraines last week. I was lucky to get to the chiropractor and be able to stretch later in the week. I was, however, able to get to the mailbox (longish walk), and walk up and down stairs in my house (I don't have much choice in order to access much-needed areas and things). I am grateful for that.

Today I am going to my fiancée's to work in our garden. I'm also going to see my friend and her husband at a local car show because they're showing-off more of their collection.

My intention is to do all this early so I can get back home in time for my evening and bedtime ritual.

Send some of that Massachusetts cool our way when it starts! Ugh...another mind and limb deadening day. But we did exercise. Not at the gym...it was closed. Closed...can you believe it...at 4pm yet...on a Saturday! ARRRGGGGGHHHH...what is it with everything but Walmart and the fast food places closing up before dusk! We did 2 Leslie Sansone tapes from Comcast On Demand. Hit the fan on us full blast and away we went. Now that we're back at it, hopefully we'll be able to keep it up.

I was in Florida until today and I had the same heat wave you are still in now. You are not wimps or wilting. The heat and humidity has been brutal. I will miss Florida and my friends and family there, but I will not miss that heat and humidity at all. I am looking foreward to the crisp cool days in Massachusetts although right now, we are still quite warm. It is, however, better than Florida. I think anyplace you can find to exercise better be air conditioned.

I don't live in FL. but its been hot & humid here or its storming. Now rain for most of the summer and then 7" in two days. Its been a very weird weather year.
Since I had the day with no plans I ended up cleaning the house. We took our couch to my sons new apartment.
Here's to a good nights sleep.

Okay, guys, this is ridiculous. David and I are GOING to go to the gym today, come heat or HEAT! We've had a lovely day so far. Our son and our littlest grand baby came over, and she is so darn adorable. She's 15 months old. We really enjoyed our visit!

So, now we're going to brave the elements and get out there. I know, we sound like a bunch of wilted wimps, and, guess what, WE ARE!

You know what, Dorthy. I think this weekend, other than religious services on Sunday, staying at home and finishing painting the kitchen wall, bathing the poor sweaty dogs, doing some quilting, helping David finish making the porch table, and watching a good movie sounds really good. It's so hot here that the thought of getting into the car and going somewhere that's hot, or full of people, just isn't appealing at all. I don't think the heat ever affected us this bad before. Fall can't come soon enough for me.

morning everyone,

Just taking a few moments to myself and checking in with friends. It seems like I haven't had a few moments to myself in a long time. Actually, I don't have plans or commitments for today and tomorrow. WOO HOO! Maybe I shouldn't say that, because something always happens when I mention it. lol

What plans do you have for the weekend?

I would love to get that much sleep. I just can't seem to stay asleep. I am lucky to get more than 6. I think I may be in perimenopause (I am certainly old enough now). I wake up drenched in sweat so I kick off the blankets, and then I freeze. After a few cycles like this, I just get up. I never needed much sleep anyway until my blood glucose got messed up--then I wanted lots of it. I blamed it on my fibromyalgia. Now that my sugars are pretty much normal, I am back to not needing so much sleep so I am thinking it was the diabetes.

Wow, 11 hours of sleep, that would be so great. Maybe I'll have to look into finding some lil pills to help me get more than my usual, fitful 5. emoticon I wonder what it is about not being able to sleep? Is that part of menopause, or something?

Oh, my, yes. Young love. My baby Sis is going through that now with her oldest, who's going off to college in 19 days, FARRR AWAYYYY from home. So what does the guy shes been dating do, yep, enroll in a college close to hers. Me thinks that this one thinks that he's the one.

Patty, it's good that you guys like and approve of him. My sister and husband like hers, too. So does my Mother, and BOY, is she a hard one to please!

Dorthy, I think that's what has my Sis worried the most, not being able to be there should her daughter need her. Breaking those bonds is so hard. I can remember vividly how it felt when mine finally all left the roost.

And God love her, Amanda, my grandaughter, actually doesn't want to leave her job, and can't yet tell her Mother if she's going back to it or not. Gosh, I wish she'd find one somewhere else. They are bringing in counselors for the employees...I don't know, it's a call I wouldn't want to have to make.

Young love is great, but when they are going to different colleges it does make it hard. That or they decide one of them will make the change and move. I have found thats when its hard as a parent to guide them. THey are adults, but they don't always think things through...BUt you can't tell them...they can do it all. yes young love!

Lauren,
What a terrible thing that happened. I sure hope they catch the other one. But it has to be very frightening for her still. I worried when my daughter went to college that something like that would happen. So far she has only worked on campus. But last year her two friends were robbed at gunpoint in the car at a stop light. They are were ok, just shaken up alot.

Oh my. Lauren, she must have been so frightened and you must be so frightened for her! I do hope they catch that other thug!
The only "drama" I have (and it is a good one) is my daughter has a new boyfriend and they are so enamored with each other that everyone can see the chemistry and the "sparks" (had to get in that spark word). She is turning 21 this week so she is old enough to start forming a permanent bond. We like this young man. Hope it can last once she returns to school in Massachusetts and he heads back to to college on the West Coast. Young love--Sigh. emoticon

Well, this is definetely off SP topic...I said post here for anything we had on our minds...I guess I'm going to be the first one to "test the waters." Wow, let me tell you guys, it's been a heck of an afternoon. Drama, and not good drama, either, not that there ever is good drama. My oldest grandaughter just started her job, only been on it for 4 days. Yesterday evening she got robbed at gunpoint, a 38 held to her temple, and another robber at the front door with a machine gun. My god, I can't even allow myself to visualize what she went through. It frightens me too badly. By the time they got through with the police, crime scene unit, etc, it was after midnight, and the girls didn't let me know about it all until this afternoon. And I didn't have the television on when we got back from the beach yesterday, or I guess I would have seen it splashed across the screen. They caught one of them, maybe by now might even have the other one. I'm sure he'll probably give his buddy up. Whew, geeze, I just don't know.

Lauren I like this idea..
Iwas just having a cup of tea and thinking about how I've done today. So far I manage to get 6 waters and did 2 miles of walking and taught my water class.
The day is not over but I am on track still... thats my goal for each day this week.
