I wouldn't worry about a healthy treat if it fits within your calorie range for the day. It's actually better to plan for occassional goodies so you don't feel deprived and then go all out on them. Of course, if it was a "trigger" food--I'd avoid it. I have triggers--peanut butter, cashews, cheese--all those good healthy snacks that are not so healthy in excess. It's hard for me to stop eating the triggers once I get a taste of them.

I understand!! When Its the end of the day and I've stayed in my range, its hard to keep it there and not eat more calories. I've started eating some dry apple cinnamon cheerios at night when I'm looking for something sweet. But, its really hard to stay in that calorie range. I usually go over a few, anyway, then I try again tomorrow!! emoticon

Moderation is the key... did it fit in your calorie range today? Are you watching your cholesterol? Then you would want to make sure it was lowfat. I personally still can't eat the lowfat cheeses. From Wisconsin only the real stuff will do. Needless to say... I don't have cheese. (well very rarely)

OMG, a piece of Cheese??!! That's a healthy snack! I need to stop myself from eating a bag a doritos, a candy bar, or some greasy fried foods!! Please don't beat yourself up over a piece of cheese. I try my hardest to choose the cheese over what I really want. emoticon

I'm having one of those days here at work. emoticon My office is attached to a convenience store who happens to make the most delicious mini cinnimon buns, mini cookies and pizza. I smell it in here all day sometimes. The smell of them is killing me today lol. I have though about going to buy me some a few times.

I did buy the cookies once and though I'll only eat a couple and that won't be bad at all. I sat there and ate the whole dozen of the mini chocolate chip cookies. The calories weren't that bad but geez I felt like a pig. Therefore, I am trying to ignore the bad angel that keeps telling me to go get them buns. I know they will end up on my own buns so I'm going to resist darnit! Anybody know where you can buy invisable nose plugs? emoticon

Thanks, guys. I'm realizing it could be alot of reasons. Some days I do go below my recommended calorie intake, but others I go above. My clothes do still fit a little better than they used to. And muscle does weight more than fat, too. I've been in a funk the last week or so anyway. Just found out I've got kidney stones...another reason to increase my water intake. I did get my husband to join the gym. I guess I've inspired him! I going to keep it up. Even if I don't lose weight, I'm making myself healthier. That what counts! Thanks!!

There are a few reasons why you might have shown a gain. One is water retention, did you happen to have more sodium this last week?

Are you weighing yourself on the same scale, same time, same day? Our weight changes during the day anywhere from 1-3 pounds.

Remember to measure yourself occasionally, the scale is not the only way to see how we are doing. How are your clothes fitting?

If you track your fitness and food on sparkpeople, go back and review the week. See if there is something you might have done different this week. Did you go under your calorie range? Skip a meal or two?
Continue to move forward and try to see this as a temporary body adjustment.

Hey,
I went just now to look at your blogs and on the 27th of October you noticed that your clothes were fitting better. Are they still fitting well? If so, don't worry about the weight. Also, don't forget we women tend to gain and retain water weight hormonally and that everyones weight fluctuates during the day so when you weigh yourself will also make a difference. You may not have actually gained any weight at all. If you are staying within your calorie range, continuing to exercise and drinking your water you should be fine. I know it is discouraging not to "see" your results on the scale, but the scale is a snapshot only. Watch for trends. If it looks like it is continuing to climb, then you might have to reassess what you are doing, otherwise, give it some time and measure your progress in other ways--your measurements, stamina, endurance, feelings of emotional well-being, the way your clothes fit etc.

I just weighed in and it seems I've gained back the few pounds I've lost!! I am walking 1 to 1.5 miles every morning in 15 minutes. More daily exercise than I've ever done. I do have a hard time on weekends, with food, too. But still much better than I usually am. I can't understand why the weight came back on! Its discouraging, but I hope to try harder. I can't understand it though. emoticon

I had a wonderful birthday weekend, but not a very healthy one. My husband had a procedure done on Thurs to breakup a kidney stone and it all went down hill from there. I managed to get my walk in that day and even brought a healthy snack and water with me to the hospital. Then we got pizza for dinner. I missed my walk on Friday because I was caring to him. Then my boss brought in chocolate cake for my birthday. Saturday was a day trip. I brought water and nuts and raisins so I would get too hungry and buy fudge and candy. But I ended eating lots of kettle corn and having a big dinner out. I did eat a salad, but also a 7oz steak and all my mashed potatoes plus dessert and a free chocolate cake!!! Sunday was a little better, but again, icecream cake with the family and pizza!! And no walk to exercise all weekend. I was doing so well. But Its a new week,a new day, time to get going. More water!! Less junkfood!! NO MORE CAKE!!! emoticon

Thanks girls, I know this is why SP works! We've got each other and I doubt there is anything that I have done that someone else hasn't done either.
I'm looking to have a better day tomorrow. Planning will be key. I will map out what I need to accomplish first thing in the morning & plan my meals as well.
Will check back in with a brighter outlook!

Pat,
We all do it. And we all wonder why and we are all ashamed that we did. When I do it, I also wish I could vomit up the food and make it better, but I don't. You are not alone. We are human and we all mess up from time to time. It's how we learn. We just start over again and go on, hopefully a little wiser. Don't worry about it. We are all here for you and we have all been there.

Bee,

I don't know why we all have those moments of not feeling in control or just giving in. I have had a week of those moments.

Don't be ashamed, we are human and that means we make wrong descisions at times. But those are how we learn to change. Just like a new baby learning to walk, you fall and then start again.

A positive thing is that you realize that your doing it and that you can begin again with the right food and exercise. Remember, It doesn't have to wait until tomorrow, it can start right now.

Calling your buddy was great thinking, even if you didn't tell her all the details. As long as it helped and I'm sure you will tell her sometime.

I probably should have stopped in here sooner. I've been picking at food all day long. Then when I was putting away supper leftovers, I really screwed up. I ate 'em. Fortunately, there was probably just a single serving left of the mushroom alfredo on whole wheat pasta. But now I feel stuffed and miserable. Hopefully, I'm done for the night and can have a fresh start in the morning. This is where I wished I could just puke and get rid of it! Why do we get this way?

I did just call a diet buddy, but you know I was too ashamed to tell her what I did. But just getting to talk to someone for a while put me in a better mood.

Glad to have a place to come to be honest.
