Monika,

No matter how hard it is for you, it's great that you're working things out with a therapist. From what I have read, what you are experiencing is not uncommon, when going through the healing after trauma. Keep working through, that is positive steps toward a healthy life.

Monika,
I am not in the medical profession at all--though I've worked closely with them and have some experience of a professional nature with children and young adults who have been traumatized...as you have. It is good that you are working this through with a therapist. It would seem to me that you and your therapist need to work out a plan so that you know what to do when this happens to you. I am certain that it is anxiety producing. If you don't have a plan, ask your therapist as soon as possible. You don't need to deal with the anxiety of having a dissociative episode along with everything else. Let us know howyou are.

I know it sounds like epilepsy, but I know what it is...it is called dissociation, it happens to people who are dealing with serious trama...when the brain is in such trama it can cause you to blank out when memoriescome up...this happened when I was writing a letter about it...anyway, I just need to learn to catch it and learn to ground myself and bring myself back before I get to the point where I lose a whole portion of my day...sigh...anyway thanks for your support and concern...This just really upset me this time...big warm angel hugs.

It does sound like you might have a mild form of epilepsy. I'd go and be tested right away. It's not something to take lightly.

It sounds like your mind and body have been through more trauma than it can deal with. But just to be sure, this can sometimes happen with very mild epilepsy. Make an appointment w/ your GP tell him what is going on and insist that you are tested for all kinds of vitamins and minerals. Just in case you are suffering from a severe deciciency. In the mean time keep a journal. If you have a computer with a video/camcorder built in do it that way. The hope being if it happens again, you will have a record of it. Or maybe put in a nanny cam, it would serve the same purpose.

Follow your shrinks advice, but get that medical exam. I will pray that eveything will work out shortly.

Today I have been feeling really weird....I feel so disconnected...Last night when I was doing as my therapist suggested and wrote a letter to the guy who sexually assaulted me and tell him how he has hurt me, before I wrote it I was worried it was going to cause me to completely flip out and want to cut again...instead while I wrote it I totally blanked out...I remember sitting down to do it, I remember pulling out the paper and starting to write, but after that I dont remember it...When I got up this morning I wasnt sure what happened...I did write it and I tore it up like my therapist suggested but I dont remember doing it...that is so weird...Then today while I was talking to her during my appointment I did about the same thing...my therapist had to pull me back and lead me through some grounding excersizes, I have had this happen before it happened a couple times when I was in school, I would miss whole lectures because something would trigger a flashback...but not quite like this...Right now I am really feeling lightheaded and disconnected...I think I just need some sleep now...sigh...anyway that is what is going on for me right now...just feeling weird...haha...big warm angel hugs for all.
