Sometimes it is better to break up your walks into smaller portions, say 2- 20 minute or 3- 15 minute sessions until your body (knees, back, leg muscles), etc.) gets used to it. When I started, I had serious anemia and could only walk about 20 minutes at a slow pace (so only one lap around the mall) because I would get so out of breath. I only walked once a day cause that was all I could take. I slowly worked my way up to 60 minutes, about 9 or 10 times around.
You know what they say, "slow but steady wins the race", it's true, I say 60 lbs later and still going!
