They also have a 10K running program. Maybe that is more up your alley?

Thanks! I have downloaded the app to my phone. Now, since I've already been following a plan for almost 2 months, I'm trying to figure out where to jump in...

Hm. I've been reading posts, trying to figure out where the C25K program is, and not having much luck. Where are the weekly workout sessions listed and described? Is it on the SP site? I am new to this. I see posts about some app, but I followed a link and just ended up with UtilityChest toolbar installed on my computer and an attempt to change my homepage, grr. None of that appears to have anything to do with running. An overview and instructions might help. Thank you!

Hey! You should just be able to search C25K on your smartphone (android or apple) and find the program.
www.c25k.com/ That link has a lot of good C25K resources if you, like me, don't have a smartphone right now. I think there is even a link that has free podcasts you could download to an mp3 player. Happy running!

The last couple of months I have been walking and hiking 2 miles three days a week. Last week I started jogging a little during my walk. It didn't kill me so I'm going to start the C25k Monday. I'm hoping to get a friend to start with me but if not I'm still going to do it.
I look forward to reading about everyone's progress.

I just restarted this program last Thursday; tomorrow will be W1D3 for me. ...and holy crap, do I love cold-weather running! I have been out of commission for a while. First, a back injury that had me in PT for a few months, then a job working at a restaurant with very few healthy options on the menu...and then...well...I was lazy. Let's be honest, here. I'm glad to be getting back to it, though. I have big plans!
Finally, I have some decent podcasts to help me as I run, as well. The motivation isn't really the problem, but wondering when to do things and how to do them correctly became tedious. I am really finding that interval cues work a treat, when coupled with music.

I too sometimes get side aches. Here is a link to a nice explanation and strategies to alleviate.

My name is Elizabeth and I'm 23. I've had an exercise lapse of about 3 months and I think it's time I step it back up. I was working with a crossfit trainer for quite a while, my sessions ended and I lost motivation. I've seen that my muscle town has gone way down. I have set a goal for myself, the Spartan Sprint in December, and plan on being fit for that. It's a 3 mile obstacle race. I plan on doing well. I'm going to see how well this program works for me in getting myself back up off the couch while restarting my crossfit training.
Happy running!

Runners get cramps when they have a weak core. You need to do core strengthening exercises. Planks (start with a half plank -on your elbows and toes-) front, and sides are best for this. Hold for 30 seconds each way. It can be hard at first, but it will do you a lot of good. Make sure you are keeping a good plank position. Don't put your butt in the air, but don't drop it too low either. Hold your core tight the whole time. It helps trust me!

Hi I just joined this group! I have been walk/jogging on the treadmill off and on for awhile, but now I want to concentrate on improving to a full out jog. I am 49 years old and 230 lbs. I am afraid that jogging too much at this weight will hurt my knees? Or is it a good way to help the lbs budge? I did my first session of c25k today on a treadmill. Outside is 2 feet of snow, and I am not up to outdoors until March at the earliest. There is a local 5k the first of July that I want to participate in! I look forward to following this group!

Hi.. what do you mean you made it to 5 sessions and 3 sessions? You should be doing 1 session at a time and waiting a day before you do the next. You should be stretching before and after and breathing correctly. Eat a small handful of peanuts before you exercise. Thats all the energy you'll need. Eat your meal after. Also, drink your water! Its good for ya.

Hey All, I am new to this program. I was able to get through week 1 and felt really good about that. Now in week 2, I am getting cramps everytime I jog in both sides of my stomach....I am finding it very painful, and I haven't finished a session yet. Am I going to fast? I don't know. I tried Tuesday night and made it to 5 sessions of the jogging, last night I tried again and made it through 5 sessions, today I made it through 3....I don't know what to do. I haven't been drinking a lot of water and my diet has been off. Finances are low, and we are eating what is home rather than being able to eat what I want to eat.
Does anyone have any pointers. I am also feeling nautious a lot too, but I don't know if this is my body's way of saying Don't Do This To Me!!!!
I just want to know if this is normal or if there is something I can do to help myself avoid some of this and make it more fun...
I am planning to do a walk/jog 5 K in February if I can get going with this, and a 5k run in May!!! So two goals to work at but I am struggling with why I am having such a hard time. One person I talked to told me it is all in my head and I have to get out of my head.....So I am reaching out for help.....HELP!!!

Are you running on the sidewalk or the street? I've always had better luck on the street. For some reason it doesn't impact my knees or hips at all like the sidewalk does. I think it's just made from a more forgiving materials. Hope you feel better soon!
I just had a baby in October, and I'm starting this program again to lose the baby weight.

I just started c25k this week.. my app didnt say to skip a day in between so I just finished my 3rd day - in a row. .I am 215 lbs with arthritis but I did it. I only just now noticed my next run says week 2 so I did some research and found out I should have waited a day before running the next one. ANYWAY.. I signed up for a dietbet and bet $10 I could lose 4% of my weight in a month. The "pot" is up to $6500 now! All winners split the pot.. Im excited! ready to lose my extra lbs that Ive been trying so hard to get rid of for so many years! Sooo happy for this group!

I am new to this team and can use all the help to get going. I took a break from running for over a year after having surgery. I never really followed a running program before and am looking forward in joining C25K.

I restarted the C25K program last Monday so tomorrow will be W1D3, I am excited to see the results. I had completed this program 2 years ago and was doing very well with loosing weight until I hit that platue and then things fell apart from there. I am ready and mentally prepared to have a go at it again and actually run a 5k when I have completed this program :)
I enter my c25k workouts in sparkpeople under: walk/jog 6mph or slower and then the minutes I did it for.

I am restarting C25k tomorrow, but in the past I would enter 2 entries on my fitness tracker. One for the total minutes walked and one for the total minutes I ran. For example, 6 minutes running at 4.5 mph and 14 min walking 3.0 mph. Hope this helps! Good luck.

Hi....I am wondering if there is a way to easily add my c25k....training to SPARKSPEOPLE FITNESS TRACKER? I am on my third attempt....at day two of week one.....silly me! I started my weight loss...healthier me...journey, June 2012....lost 35 lbs...with 25 more to loose. I have been stuck and beginning to slide backwards. I hope joining SP and adding c25k...will help me reach my goal of 150 pounds. I will turn 70 on 3/1/13....and want to spend the next 70 years...feeling fine....

I just wanted to say that I was on my way to restarting this program..for the 3rd time, but this time is post partum ;), but I had hurt my knees. The pain persisted long and bad enough i had to go to the doctor. He gave me some anti-inflammatories and told me I needed to start with low impact workouts, such as walking, biking, swimming and elliptical before I begin running again. that made me sad..but hopefully I'll get to start again soon!
If Paul ran the race with endurance, so can I! Through God's strength, I can do anything!
