yes. I either use my phone if I am also using runkeeper to track my run, or I use my ipod if I'm just running around the lake.

When I first started doing the C25K I didn't use any music. I took a break for a while & now that I'm starting it again, this time I have made playlists w/ 5 min songs at the beginning & end for the warm-up & cool down. The songs in the middle I edited w/ Audacity so they are around 145 bpm. The right tempo is crucial! I also keep track of my time w/ an interval app I put on my Blackberry that tells me when to walk & when to jog. It's really helpful.

I used to run with an MP3 player but then I started entering races that didn't allow any listening device. That kind of threw me for a loop because I was used to listening to my music. Now I train without using anything.

I use my MP3 player that I picked up last year for $10. I have an audiobook on one and the C25K podcast on the other.

I love Ipods. I just bought the Ipod shuffle that clips on to your clothing. Can't run without it! emoticon

Ouch, $33 for an armband? They're less expensive at the Apple store.

I have a cheap (under $40) little MP3...it came with its own case that has a clip that will clip on anywhere. Sometimes I use my phone, but only because that has GPS on my cardio trainer and I can run that app over the music.

For those of you looking for the arm band, I happened to see one on sale for about $13 today (I believe it's today only) with free shipping. Usually they're over $20.

I have an iPod touch and love it. For now I keep it in my jacket pocket.

I didn't like the earbuds that came with it so bought a new softer pair. I also kind of wear them upside down. I have the wires come up over the back of my ears before I put them in my ears. The stay put much better when I run. I also have trouble reading that tiny R and L on the back of the buds to know which ear to put them in so I painted a dot on the right one with some red nail polish. You know...R=red. =)

I use an ipod with cover/arm band during my workouts. I enjoy music and it really helps to push me to the end. Plus with podcasts for c25k program, it made it easy to do my runs since I chose to do it for time rather than distance. I also suggest getting different ear buds (if getting an ipod). I bought some by koss that have different size flexible adapters to fit in your ear better. When I used the ones that came with my ipod, I spent more time putting them back in place than working out!! emoticon

I don't listen to anything because I don't like distractions. I want to hear everything going on around me. On the Hood To Coast Relay a runner will get disqualified for having headphones/earbuds. It is a safety hazard.

It depends on how much music you want to download and whether having a screen is important to you.

Check out apple.com to see what's available. The new Nano is around $150 and features a screen and compact clip-on size.

I have a Shuffle 2G that I paid $45 for. No screen and holds about 180 songs, clips on anywhere.

You can purchase these and others just about anywhere - WalMart, Target, Best Buy, etc.

Since I'm currently doing the B210K program, I'm using my iPhone because I'm using an app. Otherwise, I'd be using my iPod.

I use my iphone for the gps apps so I can track how far and how long I go. If I were a more accomplished runner and didn't need the gps, I'd go with the ipod shuffle. $49 for 2gb and clips to your shirt, sports bra, whatever.

I have a few different devices I use. I have a 1GB Coby shuffle MP3 player that I got for around $20 at Toys R Us that is my main workout MP3 player. Its tiny & clips onto my clothing, so it works well.

The hubby and I also alternate between an 4GB IPOD nano and 60GB IPOD Video during our workouts too. You can find an armband for almost every MP3 player out there - I even have one for my phone for when I use that instead of my MP3 players

I am currently on the look out for a device to use for running. I would like it to be strapped on my arm too, so not to big. And under $180 if possible.

What would you recommend?

Thanks Everyone!!
