Good luck at your half, Carolyn! We are doing the Detroit Free Press in Oct. my husband did the DFP full last Oct, and will do the full again. I'm doing the Gazelle Girl 1/2 next weekend in Grand Rapids, the 5/3 Riverbank 25K run in GR in May, and the DFP 1/2 in Oct. Are you going to be doing any of those?

A hoodie, a knit cap, and a 9 mil.

I have often thought that they ought to have an Urban Biathlon in the Summer Olympics. You get a 9 mil and you have to run away from the cops and shoot at moving targets along the way. Maybe steal a kid's bike or something.

Hi gang - I am planning to do this race on Sunday. It looks like a great course (I did the Free Press HM in 2009), and I am looking forward to running on Belle Isle. Is anyone else doing it? Would love to meet up if possible.

For those that have not heard of it, it's in downtown Detroit, which is a really cool city venue despite Detroit's reputation. Instead of the usual tech shirt you get: 1) a hoodie, 2) a knit cap, 3) a reusable drink tumbler, 4) a medal, 5) hot cocoa and chocolate fondue with a basket of goodies to dip in the fondue!

I haven't done a half since early December, but I did a 10 miler 2 weeks ago, 12 miles last weekend and will do 8 today, so I am ready. My only issue is I am going from training in the Florida mid 70s to 30s and 40s in Detroit (with a chance of rain). I think I will be hitting the resale shops today and tomrrow to find some throw away clothes.
