Great job!!! I take your really slow times any day.I understand the heat. I ran a 5K this morning in Southern Florida...it was 82 degrees w/85% humidity. Lets just say all we had to do was walk to the start line and we were all sweating!! I got a PR but it wasn't what I would have liked to do. Again...way to go - those are great times!!
I was hoping to run much faster today, but temps in the mid 70's combined with high humidity and bright sunshine pretty much ensured that I couldn't maintain the pace I had through the first 4 miles of this race. Despite that, I managed a PR, even if it wasn't pretty towards the end, but I didn't quit and I gave it everything I had to give. By the middle of the race I was making quick stops at water stops and pouring water over my head to stay cool. Also, I finished 14th over all and 2nd in my division - good for a bunch of points in the 2nd race of this HM trilogy. :-) So here are my splits from todays race. 1. 6:31 2. 6:29 3. 6:32 4. 6:31 It started go go downhill from here as the heat began to get to me... 5. 6:55 6. 7:20 7. 6:54 (a bit of recovery after dousing myself with some water) 8. 6:56 It started to get REALLY ugly after this point..... 9. 7:32 10. 7:37 11. 7:47 (not a good mile but once I got past it, I was able to push myself into a better pace (not much better, but better) 12. 7:27 13. 7:21 Then of course, the last 10th of a mile. I think, all things considered (heat, humidity, etc...) that i had a strong race and I did well even if it was too hot for me to hit my goal pace of 6:45
