Another beautiful California day. Sunshine, clear skies, and 60F temps.

6.5 miles on the Guadalupe River trail.

That's 155 miles for the month. Moving on to February.

Shaverda, every little bit helps. At least your getting out there, which is more than can be said for a lot of people.

The Nike+ system for the iPod Nano is well worth the $30 price tag. You don't need the special shoes with the insert, you can attach the sensor under your shoe laces and it works just as well. They're pretty accurate too. I've done comparisons with my Garmin GPS and they're so close it's not worth worrying about.

Claudia, sorry to hear it's raining down there. At least the rain clears the smog from the air. ;-)

fitsugar- if you dont have a pedometer, you should use www.mapmyrun.com in the mean time. It maps out your run. Just put in where you ran and it calculates the distance.

I need to get a pedometer or something since I just run by time. I am up to 30 minutes. So I think I am running about 3 miles. Maybe I should get the nike+ for my iPod. Some of my friends have them and really like them.

Argh! It's raining so that means that I can't run during my lunch hour. I'll have to do a 35 minute run on the treadmill when I get in from work. I want to be outside!

COOLYULY, Are you running the Nike+ 1000 mile challenge? I've got two of those on my list.

I hope your recovering well from whatever injury you suffered and you can get back to running soon. I know I'd feel pretty bad if I couldn't run.

All the best,

I just started with SP this weekend, after switching from a different system. While looking around the teams, I found this one. Not all of my running is on the road, but it's probably 50%.

I ran at lunch, after my yoga class. Just a quick couple of miles on the treadmill. It rained around here over the weekend, so I ran the treadmill Sat. and Sun, too. 6.5 miles and another 2 miles. A little cross training went into Sunday's trip to the gym, too. Bike and Elliptical.

Gearing up, or down, this week, depending on how you look at it. I have my first 50k of the season on Saturday.

It takes commitment to run those distances. My wife agrees with me 100%. She thinks I should be committed.

2.56 miles in 30 minutes. I always struggle on my Monday runs. I'm not sure why. Maybe because of my long runs on Saturdays? Anyone else struggle on Mondays?

I need to drive my route to see what my mileage is. I ran for about 45 minutes this morning. I had to stop and walk a few times. At some point, I will learn to double knot my nikes so that I won't have to re-tie my shoes!

Hi, I'm new to sparkpeople, and I thought I would join in! I ran 5 miles this morning in 56:10 - this was only the second time i have run that far, so it is still pretty exciting. I have been on and off running for almost 3 years, but recently started getting serious about getting my pace down. My goal is to run a 5k in less than 30 minutes, as well as lay some base for running further in the future.

I was on the track team in high school, and I actually hated running (just did it because all the cool kids were doing it! lol), but 10 years later I absolutely love it - what a great stress reliever!

Just two - I need to start this whole thing out slow, or else I'll stop running entirely. =O

I don't understand why I don't run usually; I love doing it.

And I especially love the endorphins. =P

Hello...I'm new to Spark. I ran 3 miles this morning on my treadmill. I'm well on my way to meeting my 60 miles in a month goal, which is a big goal for me. My pace is slower than I'd like (ranging between 10:25 to 12:35 depending on the run). Does anyone have an opnion on how to improve pace?

Thanks!

I ran 3.2 miles at a 9:32 minute pace yesterday. I am training for a 8K on St. Patricks Day. I have increased my mileage each week and hope to be running 15 miles a week soon. I ran 11.2 miles this past week. My longest run so far has been 4.2 miles. I will keep running till I get it. SMILE

Although I have been training on the elliptical and in the pool, today was my first day running in 20 days. I went for 4 miles and it was just AMAZING! About 1 degree (in northen Minnesota), windy, but clear and sunny and wonderful - even my dog had a blast rolling in the snow every few hundred yards. I so needed to run!

Looking to do a HM (haha - I didn't know what that was, either) in June and a full in October. Next race is Feb. 17 in International Falls.

Hi all,
Id like to join in on the discussion. I just started back running after about a month lay over during the holidays. Today I did 5.3 miles at the local park. I am training for a 10K March 3.

We ran 10k this a.m. - through gross, slushy snow! Yuck!!
But, it was mild...only -1 degrees. After a couple of days this week, that felt balmy!

I think I ran about 2M this morning before work. Well, there was SOME walking involved. I went for 45 minutes.

About two years ago, I was running every other day and even running 1.5 hours. Last year was a tough year, and I hardly ever worked out. I've decided to mix up running and yoga, with some weight lifting thrown in.

Akorelc- Its a sad feeling seeing runners outside when I am walking...knowing that that could be ME! I know I have to take it easy, easier said than done though. Without my knee I cant run, so i have to take care of it no matter what.
This power walking stuff isnt so bad, I did pretty good today even though my dog got frustrated again (he is trained running dog) because we werent running. I think its bad on my part for only taking him running, he doesnt get to enjoy the outdoors like he should. This should be good for both of us.

Hi, Claudia:

Please take it easy on that knee! Do I ever know just how frustrating it is to have to walk, when you want to fly!

But, I know some pretty serious power walkers who can outpace some pretty good runners, too! (Just try to keep up with my mom, lol!)

I was scheduled for only 40 mins of walk/run today, since we're doing the 3M HM on Sunday. I did about 44 mins at an average of 5mph (about 12/M) and feel great!

Sunday...13.1 miles, mostly downhill...forecasted 50F...should be good...but I need a 21-miler in before 2/18...hmmm...

I got 4.5 miles in tonight. It was supposed to be 2 miles and 4 was tomorrow according to my HM schedule but tomorrow is starting to look pretty busy. Plus I was having a good run and didn't want to stop. ;-) I even ran a couple of extra miles after my training partner quit. LOL!
