I love running in cold weather! There's nothing better. If the wind is nasty, it usually takes my breath away, so I'll do the treadmill. I do go slower due to snow, but it only makes me stronger when there is no snow. Fall, winter and spring are the best, summer - now that's a challenge...

30 degrees this morning in sunny Central Florida! Very windy too. I love it! I run faster and longer in the cold. So much easier for me than the hot humid stuff. This is my favorite time of year to run.

I agree that the wind is the hard part.

I went out on Sunday, and with 35 mph wind gusts, it felt like 5 degrees. I was totally fine when I had my back to the wind, but once I faced it, man, it was tough! I cut my 6 miler down to about 3.5 miles, but at least I got out there and did something.

QHA, I'm in Florida also and the cold has slowed me WAAAY down. It takes forever for the muscles to warm up. It was 45 this AM and until the wind picked up, it was fine... but significantly slower than normal. I find the dry air is really hard on the lungs and muscles also. Gimme some humidity anyday!

Does the cold affect your stride or pace? I am used to running in 70-80 degrees, so running in less than 50 makes my legs feel stiff and I go a little slower.

ended up being 21 degrees, man the forecaster missed that one LOL...was a piece of cake (though it first half mile was really windy). Legs seem to have adapted pretty fast. Third run, and my thighs only ache real dully now. Making nice progress.

I live in Vegas and running weather is GREAT. If you can run while the sun is up (in the winter) it's great. For the summer I have to run before the sun rises or it's just too hot.

I'm whining because it's in the 40's in Florida. I managed to run though, bundled up in thick sweats, hat, gloves and scarf.

I am with Gail, a light wind is ok, anything more and it is no fun.

Cold weather. Delicious, isn't it? I'll be the first to admit that it's hard to get out there, but after about ten minutes of running I find myself enjoying it. The best part is that there's hardly anyone else crazy enough to be out in this weather, which makes for a quiet, soulful kind of run.

I would run in that temperature if there was no wind.

over the weekend I ran below 10 degrees with wind chill of well below zero..it was bad at first but I got used to it. The sun was out which helped. I did need to cover my face. Wouldn't do it for a run over an hour (at least as of now) but that may change..my 10 mile run on the treadmill was not fun and I can't imagine doing much more on it..

I'm going to Vegas on Sunday..can't wait to run in decent temps (that is, if I can find a good place to run)

Today I ran in 20, with single digit windchills. It was brutal running into the wind! I don't think I'd even attempt a 9° run.
