emoticon to everyone who was a past leader! It was very good of you to take that on as a project. I can understand why you might be feeling unhappy, though, about people being disinterested in your efforts. emoticon I hope that you will be able to come to future events and meet more people from the Portland area, and enjoy the walks.

I'm going to be scheduling some ongoing walks that will be repeating monthly. I'm not really for one-time things, but we might do some stuff like that also, if there's enough interest. Perhaps if another person joins me as co-leader who does have an interest in that. I really don't, so we won't be doing a lot of that. Sometimes, maybe, like we can go look at the lights at Peacock Lane in December. There is stuff we can do. I just really want to establish the monthly walks and then we'll go on from there. And I'm never going to do a head count and call people out for not coming. It's not really a big deal If you can make it, great. If you can't, maybe next time! That's how I feel about it all.

I just want the focus to be on fun, so other people's focus can be on their health and meeting new people. I won't even be at all events. I get sick a lot. And I'm going to be scheduling walks at malls that I don't even go to. If they see someone there they can walk with, great. Otherwise, they'll just have to walk alone that time. People might not even want to risk going to a mall and having no one join them. But I think it just has to start, and it might pick up as time goes on. Here's hoping!

Gaye, I agree with you on all of it. Both you and Candy have also done an outstanding job leading this team and have also enjoyed those coordinated walks.

You've made great attempt with this team Jory. Sadly I think that's what Candy and I ran into also. I think people join their local team but then move on to other teams with the same interests.

I have always tried to participate in the group walks/volunteer but just can't fit it in on week days. Let's see what your post provokes.

With one week to go before we finish out the first month of January 2014, I wanted to share some observations regarding this team...

- There have been approximately 10 active users (posted) who made one or more visits to the team
-The team message threads were revamped in hopes that more people would use the resources. Only a couple of threads were visited. The most popular thread, used daily, is a word game.
- A Spark lunchtime walk was coordinated. There were no Spark attendees.
- Weekend Challenges (3) were established. Only two members participated and that was during week 2.
- There were several solicitations for gym buddy, but there is no indication whether those solicitations were successful.
- Throughout this time, membership has grown as Sparkpeople has added local members to the team, however, there does not seem to be an interest in active participation either online or in real time (life).

This is your ongoing opportunity to make suggestions for this board's use. Please note that if a suggestion involves cleanup of message threads that cannot be considered because it is not within the control of team leaders to make those changes.
