If I replied to this Tuesday, I'm not sure I would be saying all these things with the rain wer having. Water: only thing better is spring water at Camp Sherman Sun, when we get it, it's beautiful, and not too hot. Food, with the local farmers and the ocean near by, how could we loose The waterfront, what a great place for walking and bicycling. And festivals too. Mt Hood only an hour away, great for skiing and playing in the snow The Beach, an hour the other way.
Yes, Portland is a wonderful place. And it won't be long before the bulbs and trees will be blooming.

We do have the best water which makes the best beer and coffee which makes the happiest people!
The best remark I've ever heard about our weather is "We don't get much of a summer but we also don't get much a winter!" This was so true last winter when most of the country was knee deep in snow and we were just getting rain!

I forgot to mention PEOPLE! So many weird, wonderful, talented, colorful people!
Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Annie,
You're so right! Let's face it...the Pho wouldn't be nearly as good if it was 90 and sunny all the time, lol!

And FOOD! And so many cultural choices! And so many beautiful, natural places so close by. I love Portland too--I know the dampness is what brings us such a beautiful green summer but I still gripe about it this time of year...boohoohoo Just get over it Annie!

Can we also get a great big for some of, if not THE best tasting water anywhere? C~
Love my City of Roses! I've spent short periods of time in many other places, and none have ever tempted me to stay (though I'd be willing to face some long vacations on Kauai, if necessary, lol) Great post!

I made a similar comment to some friends of mine while we were on our way to a meeting Thur. night. Portland is the most beautiful city I have ever lived. I would however like to see more sunshine.

I'd have to agree. I've lived in a variety of places, but ending up here in Portland was like finally coming home. I can't imagine being anywhere else now. C~

I live in beautiful downtown Portland and I swear I fall in love with Portland over and over again. Yes, we do have a few issues but even in this weather, I really do love Portland! One of my friends is talking about moving to Arizona. I can't imagine living anywhere else, well maybe Paris for a while, but then I would be back. Because for me a rose in Portland grows!
