Happy oregon's Birthday We have bad habits in our background, about eating. Just recognising them makes a deference. Learning what is seasonal and local keeps more vitamins in them. Probably one more week of leaks at the farmers market. So I spent $1.25 on veggies. parsley is fine but just one plant. Free eggs. Capon from Coop for farmers market bought mushrooms.

I have been able to walk 3-4 miles @ times for the past couple of weeks now. Four miles is a big accomplishment for me with my back and leg issues. I slow down towards the end but that does not matter to me. My weight loss has been great! My A1c is 6.3 and i am down to taking only 50 units of insulin at night. In May, i took 112 units. I feel that i have really accomplished a lot so far. I am proud of myself!

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Checkups today with the cardiologist. no drug changes A1c High not diabetic. Cholesterol not quite where it should be. We will work on diet some more. He is pleased with my recovery its almost a year post op. No heart murmur any more. Which is why they went in and saw two cloged arteries so they backed out and with in two weeks cracked me open for a double bypass.
I am such a diheard customer at the farmers market I baught mustard greens last week and when I told him they did not travel well he gave me more Free salad Happy Spring, and St patrics Day

YYYYYYYYAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I said it, very loudly! It only lasted 2 days, and was mostly due to not eating much and dehydration b/c I got food poisoning Wednesday night.....all night......but for yesterday and today, I HIT MY HALF-WAY WEIGHT LOSS GOAL! WOOHOO! I started eating normally last evening and today, and have been drinking lots of water today, so I am sure I will be back to hydrated properly when I step on the scale tomorrow so it's just a blip, but I am so happy to have seen those numbers on the scale! SO HAPPY! I have not seen 186 or 187 on the scale since my daughter was born 23 years ago, and I now have less than 50 pounds left to lose!
Very realistic here, I know I'll be up tomorrow but I am focused completely on the exhilaration of getting to my half-way for real by March 01, without the "benefit" of food poisoning to do the dirty work! Even if I'm up 2 pounds tomorrow, I'm still going post a note on the fridge to congratulate myself for making my goal!

Non weight related Yahoo! I found out yesterday my braces come off in 7 weeks. Only 49 more days with these darn things!! You would not believe the amount of healthy foods I've had to avoid in the last few years.

Finally broke through the peak I had hit around the holidays! Actually, the holiday eating didn't help, but I had been stalled at around 35 pounds of weight loss even before Thanksgiving. I've finally moved another 5 pounds this month, so hopefully that was just a blip. Either way, I was very happy after I jumped on the scale this morning to see that last 1/2 pound off, so as long as I don't gain anything back for the rest of this month, I'm good to go for January! January! A month I have always had a hard time losing weight in! So excited, feeling very happy dancy today, it's definitely a "pat yourself on the back and go shopping" day for me! So I'm going to go buy a new backpack for a trip up Mt Whitney with my brother this summer. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone-indulge in a self reward that does not involve food treats, and get a new backpack to replace my 20 year old worn out one!
Good day, even with this absolute downpour we're having today!

I finished BLC17 the end of November at 183lbs, starting at 190. I finally got out of the 19s. I've been bouncing around between 183 and 185 all through the holidays. I feel good about that. I start BLC18 on Wednesday and I'm hoping to enter the 17s and leave the 18s behind at the end of the round

Congrats on the weight loss PIGSOFGREEN! Great work.
I work at the edge of the pearl right next to the North Park blocks. I was waiting for DH to pick me up today as we had to take our sick kitty to the vet's. The wind just started up, oh how I wish I had a camera. The leaves were falling like snow, it was so beautiful. I'm sure it will be a mess on my morning walk.

I weighed myself today. Due to various issues, I don't typically weigh in on a specific day, or a regular basis to keep myself out of trouble. The last 6 weeks or so, the scale either hasn't moved, or went up!
Today...I've dropped 2 pounds!! Total happy dance for me!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I've been keeping to my goals for the most part this week. It always amazes me when I start tracking what I eat, it all adds up so fast. I still have some relatively minor "tweaking" to do to get my calories down just a little more but overall I'm feeling pretty good. I'll be checking in on posts and looking for inspiration daily and look forward to chatting with you all.

The last half of September I backslided a bit and re-gained a couple of the pounds i lost in August; seemed to have lost my mojo there...or something. But now I'm back on track and the scale is going back down again. I've been hitting the local middle school track almost every day for a week. Had to slow down on the third and forth day 'cuz of my dern piriformis muscle acting up. It seems to have quieted down with some proper stretching--gotta make that stretching part of my regular exercise routine; aarrrg!
But by 7:30am today I had already had 5000 steps on my pedometer!

Woo Hoo Candy! Not looking forward to my 12 miler this Sunday for my half marathon training, but I'll do it.
I ran Pints to Pasta over 3 minutes faster than I did last year. 1:06:19. Not my best ever, but improvement!

I lost 3 pounds in August and that's a LOT for me. I have been struggling to just lose 1 ever since early spring. All of a sudden 3 down. I've been working and concentrating my focus on my eating habits and exercise like a crazy woman. It's working!
