Well...goals met: still in training for the Portland Marathon. Only a little over a week to go. Weighed 142 this morning. More than I'd like, but on a downward trend. OK, I'll take that. Started trying to track food again. We'll see. I need to eat healthy next week just to get myself to the starting line...so I will.

September has been an OK month. My October goal: to recover from the marathon and try to get under 140 again by the end of the month. Modest goals. But recovery is important. And taking care even though I have business trips and more conferences in my immediate future.

I'm going to hit October running...literally! I'm so sick of my stupid eating habits. I get so excited and focused for a few weeks, lose some weight and then what? I go into I-don't-care mode. When I'm in that mode I am lost in it and can't seem to find my motivation...it disappears until I get so sick of myself that the pain and regret finally transforms into a new determination. I wish I could see what the trigger is that clicks me into that I-don't-care thing.

Wow yesterday was beautiful; looks like today is going to be good too. Just perfect for jogging around the school track.

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

I hear you, Ani. Unfortunately, that seems to be my biggest obstacle as well. Looking back, for me...

~ I hope to survive the family visit until the 12th, then get my nutrition back under control.
emoticon
I survived, although it was unsettling to be so off track and tough to get back to my 'normal'. I'm still working on it, actually.

~ our gym is starting PDX90 next Tuesday, so I really want to get involved and stick to that fitness plan
emoticon
I started. I tried. I skipped a week. I tried again. I simply did not mesh/meld with the overall attitude. Great program for someone, but it's not going to work for me.

~ continue training for the Girlfriend's Half in Vancouver on Oct. 16
emoticon
I'm only giving this a thumbs up, rather than a Goal Met, because I've been half-hearted about my training. I've run, but not as well as I should have. I think this Half is gonna hurt. I'm sad to say it'll be a relief when it's over, though, because I do love that I'm running, but I need a break from the training.

~ I'd love to either see the number on the scale drop DOWN (must be specific! LOL) and/or the measuring tape to show a loss. I'll take either one at this point. Progress!
emoticon
Well, I've released several lbs gained while my family was here, so that's progress. I don't think I've gotten rid of ALL of it yet, so this isn't a total win for me.

Anyone else READY for October??

So so. Not as good as I had hoped. I always seem to find that I am more weak-willed than I think I am. Gotta get some self-discipline happening...consistently, not just in jumps and starts.

Slipped up a bit these last 2 days; feel like a big poo poo head for shooting myself in my own foot goal-wise. Don't know exactly what has gotten into me but i'm going to try again starting NOW!

BLC17 officially starts today. I was 3lbs up from my BLC16 ending weight but I'm sure I'll drop that soon with the new challenges I'll be having. I'm doing the Pints to Pasta 10K this Sunday so that should help with fitness minutes. My right thigh and bum are still giving me trouble so not sure I'll be able to rock it like I want. Can't believe we're finally getting summer in September.

So far, doing well! Down 1 pound, only 9 more to go until my October 15 mini-goal! Still struggling with snacking and getting in workouts with my sore hip, but every little healthy choice adds up!

I love the name PDX90 - why didn't I think of that?!

Can't wait to hear how everyone is doing.
For me -
I've gotten back into the running groove, thankfully.
PDX90 starts tonight, and I'm excited to see how that's going to fit in with our routine.
Eating.. still a challenge, although we're cooking a bit more at home and more healthfully.

My main goal this month is to keep within my calorie limits. I have a garden party next weekend and my goal is to eat through that w/out going ~way~ overboard! Make it to Zumba class at least 7 of 9 classes this month. 3 fruits/veggies a day, every day, even if I have to sneak them in!

I think that's enough, welcome September!

My goal is to stay within my calorie range I have been on this site just a little over a week and i was doing super great, but the last few days i've gone over or have hugged my calorie max line. I'm working on getting back to where i was... I have been doing great about taking my vitamins everyday and drinking more water than i had in the past, and I'm doing good on my fitness!...let's go September!

always,

Hooray! People!

Chuck, great goals - how exciting the Warrior Dash is coming up. I know you'll do great and have a good time.

Linda, I'm on that goal right now! My mom and daughter are in town, so there's much eating going on. I'm trying to keep my wits about me though, and avoid splurging too much and/or too often!

NWCountryDancer, how exciting that you're ready to complete your thesis! That'll be a relief I bet!

Anne, happy congrats on getting married! I hope September truly is a wonderful month for you!

Leah, nice to have you with us, welcome! Congrats on graduating, that's great. I'm with you on the garden harvest. I'm eager for our goodies to come in as well.

Mishelita, nice to have you here, too! Great goals as well, they sound like great steady steps for continuing to move forward!

As for me..

Congrats Anne!

I've had trouble getting and staying on track lately - I'll be motivated for a day or two, and then I really indulge or get way too snacky. My goals are to drink my 8 glasses of water every day, stay within my calorie range 5/7 days per week, and hit at least 250 fitness minutes for the month. Starting small, and hopefully I'll be able to continue on next month!

And how in the world is it September already?! Oh my gosh. I say this every month, but this month is a total WOW! Maybe its because we waited so long for summer to really start....

Good luck everybody!!

Hello All,
I haven't officially introduced myself yet I don't think...I'm a horrible lurker! I got the message though and my main goal this month is to continue making small changes in my diet and get my body back on track health-wise. I am hoping to lose a few pounds but realistically I just don't want to gain any more this month. I am hoping to increase my water intake - I'm still working on liking water but I am getting there. Oh...and eating out less. I graduate from my culinary program on the 16th so eating out should come to a minimum once I am no longer battling a lack of time in my own kitchen. :)

Happy September to everyone! Can't believe it is here already! Looking forward to my garden spoils this month and doing some canning.

Leah

September is a maintenance month for me. There will be so many changes after my wedding next Friday, I just want to stay on track. No significant gains, no plans to weight train just get used to being married and living in a new city.

LoL- My goals for this month are to not gain any weight!

My sister and bro-in-law are visiting from Ireland for 3 weeks this month and that means lots of good food and fine dining. However, it also means lots of hiking and walking so I know I'm going to get more exercise in than normal.
