Welcome back Gaye! Hope you had a great vaca - we missed you
The Valentine run was lots of fun. We were very happy to meet Chas and expand our Spark-family, and can't wait to get together again. Bill's hip and knee bothered him a bit, so we took it easy on the walk, and still managed to have a great time.
Yesterday's run was fun as well, although that 'gentle' uphill was a misnomer! I need to find and conquer a few hills apparently. The organizers of the HeartBreaker did great putting it all together.
I need to sit down and go through my Event magazine and pull out other races to post. I know these aren't the only ones and I'm sure (hopeful?) there are other people, walkers and runners alike, who'd like to join in for the fun of it.
Hi Gaye, The run was actually a lot of fun. I was really nervous being it was my first 5k in awhile, but Candy and her family are super sweet. If you can make the Shamrock run, that would be fabulous. I would love to meet more fellow Sparkers, and of course more people to get my butt moving ~ lol.
Chaz and Candy, how was the race last weekend? Sounds like you got to meet up, how cool! I thought about doing the race today but decided I probably wouldn't want to get up early my first day back from vacation. Good decision. So now I'm looking for a race soon. I'll have to check out the Shamrock run.

I will. The last mile on the Sunday run did something, but it is starting to feel better. Lots of stretching. I wish I could join you, and will do my sunshine dance to keep the rain and wind away. You are such an inspiration. Have fun.
Just received this in my email. Any takers? Actually.. I -am- considering it. Hmm....
Heart Breaker Half Marathon This Sunday
It's All About the Medal Heart Breaker Half Marathon, 10k & 5k - Sunday, February 20 in Portland, Oregon.
Don't miss out on getting a finisher medal at the Inaugural Heart Breaker Half, 10K & 5K Run/Walk.
The Heart Breaker Half Marathon and related events will take place on Sunday, February 20 at the World Trade Center in downtown Portland, OR, and include both individual and team divisions. Each participant will receive a beautiful finisher medal, and long sleeved commemorative T-shirt (guaranteed if registered by 2/16).
A post-race celebration will take place with food, music, and prizes drawings. So whether you are in love, out of love, or looking for love, be sure to check out Portland's newest and only half marathon in the month of February.
AA Sports & RaceCenter NW will be promoting a series of Half-Marathons throughout the season. The Heart Breaker is the first of the season series. Use this race to see what your endurance level is now, and then compare it as the season progresses. If your competitive distance is the 10K or 5K, you have the same opportunity. See you at the races.
WooHoo Chas! That's awesome I'd love to meet up, yes!
We'll have to coordinate where to meet, since "under the Morrison St. bridge" is pretty broad and will likely be crowded. We could always shoot for the fountain at SW Salmon and SW Naito? That's close to the starting point, but should be far enough away that it's not swamped with people. Or, I'm open to suggestions.
