Most high school and middle school tracks are available to the public during non-school hours.
I don't know where you live but the one I go to is next to the old Metro YMCA (it's now a private club but don't remember the name) at the beginning of Barbur Blvd just as it starts when leaving downtown. I also use the Lincoln HS track on weekends but I know the public uses it on early mornings and I imagine summer isn't a problem. Good luck.

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post about starting the C25K post. My question is about outdoor tracks. I just finished Week 1 and start Week 2 this Thursday. I've been doing my workouts on the treadmill at my 24hr Fitness but I like the idea of running outside. However, I already have not-super knees and running on my neighborhoods roads just kills me. Does anyone know of outdoor tracks (specifically the kind that have the sort of "cushy" surface) that are open to the general public? Most of the ones I see when I'm out and about are high school tracks and I don't know the rules about using those.
Any tips would be great!
