Great idea - I just signed up. According to the Oregon Food Bank, the number of requests for emergency food skyrocketed over the past year, due to the economic crisis. As additional motivation, I've decided to donate $1 to OFB for each pound I lose.
Just saw this on the back of my Cheerios box this morning and thought some of you might be interested, too. The Biggest Loser, General Mills, and Subway are teaming up to encourage weight loss. For every pound you lose between now and May 5 (end of this season's Biggest Loser) they will donate 10 cents (or enough to buy one pound of food) to a local food bank. There are also little "coins" that you can clip and mail in (due date is Dec 31 of '09) to add another 10 cents.
Anyway, I thought it sounded like a fun way to continue to challenge myself to lose weight, and to help others. In Oregon something like 12% of the people need food bank assistance each year.

NEF - No excuses, finish! You are better than you think you are, and you can do more than you think you can.
