I just joined this website after reading about it in Shape. I loved the snow at first but now I must admit, enough is enough. I have two small dogs that the snow is higher than they are. Have to carry them to the street to go for a walk. Noticed walking in the snow is like walking in the sand. Hang in there fellow Oregonians.

I'm going stir crazy too!! I didn't leave the house once yesterday or today. Tomorrow isn't supposed to be any better! But at least the mail will come, I can make the trip to the mailbox!! lol

arrrrgh-thank goodness I got out friday for a while. But the stir crazies are setting in again, and I have a cat I am supposed to be feeding--I left a lot out, but it's looking like late tomorrow maybe Tues before i can get back--sheesh-poor puddy tat! He'll be happy to see me at least!

oh I know!!! I do NOT drive in inclement weather and so I haven't been to the gym in forever. I tried to do some working out in my living room yesterday without angering my downstairs neighbor. But now I'm super sore! Who knew I could do so much damage barely doing anything! lol

Thanks Sara,

I typically eat between 1500 - 1700 calories daily. I've adjusted down the past couple of weeks. Been fighting the typical NW bug that everyone is sharing so havn't been able to work out as hard as I normally would. Just about back up to full speed but still missing a couple of classes I would normally take in addition to what I'm posting.

I work with a wellness center called "All about Nutrition" in Vancouver and they have helped and guided me alot. But there is still alot of trial and error.

Good luck with your trek towards a healthy lifestyle.

Wow you are about IT! How are you keeping up that pace with all those workouts??? How many calories are you eating a day?
That is awesome, I want to keep up with you! I am crying about 40lbs. And you have already lost alot.....

I'm am fighting fatigue with a boot camp that I go to
and I'm thinking its my diet. Do you talk to a anyone about your calorie intake?

I had a wonderful walk to work this morning and am trying to get as much walking in during the work day while the weather is still reasonable. I really slacked on the strength training last month so I'm going to try and get back on track this month.

Whoo hoo! Planning ahead to get in the exercise. =)

I got a stationary bike so that even if it's too icy outside to drive to the gym, I have something to do that doesn't involve making too much noise for my downstairs neighbor!

My goal this month is to make my bells stop jingling, or rather, jiggling! :) For cardio, I'm working on increasing my daily minutes from 30 to 45.

I have a gym membership, so even when it's cold, I have a place to go burn calories--I really like the elliptical, but I'll also use the treadmill.

Get yourself moving all the way!!!!!

It's getting cold here in the Portland area. Time to be as creative as possible to get that exercise/movement in. Some of you are hearty and can brave the elements-more power to you ( the added benefit is you burn more calories when it's cold just trying to stay warm!!!)
If however, like me, you can not be that brave ( I have a medical condition that requires staying warm and dry!!!) what can you do to get in the time and movement, and NOT get bored. Currently I am marching and singing--hey, it's in my own house, so no one is going haul me off to the loony bin--at least not yet! I also dance--I realized recently that when I used to dance regularly, I was also resonably slim---hmmmm----maybe a correlation there--ya think?
