Hi Nancy,

Another option is to enroll in a class or two at your local community center run by Portland Parks and Rec. I do TaeKwonDo two days a week with my kids and it is really fun. They also have regular adult exercise classes available and it is less expensive than joining a gym. www.portlandonline.com/parks/index.c

I purchased a bike trainer during the REI sale and will do some stationary biking while watching football and/or basketball games this winter.

Hi Nancy,
I have been a member since May but I have now had a lot of time to post or even respond. I love to be outside all year I love the cold I just put on layers and shed a layer as I get moving. I love to bike and still do. When it is slick from Ice I some times walk in the malls it is a different scenery. I prefer to still be out side though. Most malls have a walking program and some like Clackamas even help keep track of your mileage with their check in's at the customer service desk. I have not been to the mall since the weather was really bad last year so you may want to check first. Welcome and always have fun at what you do. I just bought the DVD Core Rythems. It combines Latin dancing with Cardio. I love to dance and I have always wanted to Latin dance I am excited to get started with it but only on the cold yukie days I can not go out. I believe what ever it is you do you should be having a lot of fun.

Baby steps is the way I am going to accomplish my goals.

Hi there and welcome! And you brought up exactly what our October challenge is! Ways to still exercise now that the weather is awful. I personally belong to a gym because then I know that I have no excuses not to work out!

If I didn't live in an apartment with a downstairs neighbor, I'd probably utilize more of my fitness DVDs too!

Hi. I'm Nancy and I'm happy there are so many Portland people here! I just joined SP a couple of weeks ago and I love it.

Question for you all: Now that the weather is getting a bit colder, I'm wondering if most of you stop going walking and biking or if you keep at it. I would rather be outside than go to a gym but I have a hard time motivating myself when it's cold and wet out.
