Hi Doug! You are making the first step by changing your life style. As MissG stated drink plenty of water. Try to get in at least 8 8 oz. glasses a day. Water is wonderful for you in more ways than one.
It is nice that you have set yourself a goal to achieve. This will help you stay focused on watching what you eat and your portion sizes. Don't try to change everything at once. Remember to take everything in steps. This is a life style change.
If you haven't been exercising, you may want to start that out small too. With just 10 minutes to begin with and then increasing it as you go along. Don't over due it when you just start out.
