I know you all are from all over this great country of ours, and some even beyond its borders. We may have never met, and maybe never will. But we are all bound together here by the love of our little ones. Here you can be the crazy dog lady and we understand! It's ok to have pooch fur all over ya, and even in your food. We won't condemn...
What I desperately need help with, and more importantly the pooches need, is foster homes.
I am part of the intake team of Paphaven, a nation wide group who voluntarily rescues/fosters/guides and re-homes Papillions. Here's our website;
Anyways, sorry for the ramble....
We are in need of foster homes. These are places we can temporarily "park" pooches brought into our system. The foster home is an important part of the process as we trust them to evaluate for real, not just what previous owners have said, the dog and let us know how they react etc. I am not going to lie to ya, it can be tough, but soooo rewarding when we get a forever home and you give up the little one to a new family, who are madly in love with the pooch. Your heart hurts, but it somehow is a happy hurt, knowing you gave up a piece of it to help a little one who came to you confused, frightened and showed it love and care. You won't get rich fostering, except in heaven... it is a non-paying, volunteer job. (Though we do cover the pooches vet/med bills)
I should also add, we really try and match foster families with the pooches they will get, so as not to make too much chaos.
Please, if you think you might be interested, or know someone who would be, please, please go to the website and check us out. Then, if you think you have the room in your heart and home... go to the Volunteer pooch and fill out the foster home, someone will contact you almost immediately. (Yes, there is a check on you and your home; you wouldn't expect us not to would you?)
Thank you for listening to me ramble... thank you for loving these little guys.
If Papillionís aren't your thing, I know ALL the rescue groups are desperate. These economic times have hit hard, and so many families have had to move and give up their beloved pets.
Please help in anyway you can, they need you!
This life is a journey, not your destination!
