I've had work done by an artist named Mulysa Mayhem. She has just opened her own studio on the North Shore called Good Mojo Tattoos. Check her out. She is a true artist and loves to do custom work.
I have a really close friend that is very talented in this area of expertise and is worth looking into. Her shop is in Cambridge on Cambridge street, it's called Skin Art Studio and her name is Sarazah. I have two tat's from her and i'm very pleased, she is my tattoo artist, and I'm not just saying this because she's a close friend either, i'm saying because the chicks got mad talent, look her up I swear you won't be disappointed.
fat ram is regarded as the best in the area, but the shop tends to have a ridiculous waiting list and i've heard rather unsavory things about the proprietor's penchant for needle drugs, but who knows...
chameleon has some good artists and i have a friend who swears by redemption.
me, i'm too old-school and still go to rhode island like i did when it was illegal here- to Artistic in Providence. well worth the trip.

My blog about my long-term unemployment:
a tattoo sounds like a wonderful idea for a reward. i'll think i'll get one... time to design my own. I'll be checking back for recommendations.

My sister has a huge back piece that she is continually getting added to and when she lived in Boston, she always went to Chameleon in The Garage in Harvard Sq. Her tattoos always looked wonderful and she has a great piece to show off. I honestly don't know which artist did the work, but if you look them up on Yelp, they get some great reviews and most of them mention the artist by name in the review.
I don't have any first hand experience with them. I did talk to Ma_zel, and they seemed good.
But some good ones that I have heard about are
Stingray in Allston, House of Pain in Everett
and Ma-Zel Tattoo also in everett.
I also saw some good reviews on
Fat Ram in Jamaica Plain,& Pino Bros Ink in Cambridge while looking up Ma-Zels name, which I couldn't remember. I have heard of Fat ram prior, but never Pino. But people seem to like them.

Hey everyone! I'm getting a tattoo when I hit goal! Always wanted one, but never got one. Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for for safe, clean and talented Tattoo parlor in Massachusetts? Boston area or Metro West preferred but I'm willing to travel a bit! Thanks!!
