my husband and I went to a bee class last Saturday and bought a small bee house for bees. It looks like a can with straws in it and the bees like to lay the eggs in the end of the tubes.
We have also talked about getting a hive; this is the first I heard about the Great Sunflower Project, thanks for the post

I used to have an empty KFC bucket for just that LOL I would put the naughties in there and tell them the next step was the dinner table..JK of course because we don't eat them ,,I think that is why they are so naughty

You do need a black pot lol. Hang it out there so they can see it. Write on the outside of the pot...Chicken Stew, then tell them if they don't behave that is what they will become hehe

the accidental ones have a better chance around here then the ones I plant as the chickens watch what I am doing and when I leave the little beggars come by and eat all my seeds ,They really need a stew pot to hang out in sometimes ;)

Our Sunflowers popped up from last years seeds. And we had plenty. We had one pop up in the front yard from the wild bird seeds, but it didn't last as long. Probably not enough sun where it popped up.

Our Sunflowers are starting to come to an end :(...A Bumblebee checked me out though. I was wearing a colorful shirt. It must have thought I was a beautiful flower for a second or two. Then he dashed off.

I love sunflowers. I've been intending to plant some in my gardens but have yet to do it. Now a have a really good reason to do it.

that is cool. We always plant sunflowers They are so happy.The chicken eat a lot of the planted seeds but we still manage to get several every year. Bees also really like the Russian sage in our yard .

I was taking pictures of my Sunflowers again today, when my Hubby and I noticed the Bees were still flying all around and landing on the Sunflowers. I thought the Bees looked a little smaller then usual, and as I was researching what types of Bees they might be I came across this website. It's interesting.
