Today was an indoor day for the most part. Mall walking and a little time spent walking around a fair..

No way will I go on those rides.. but it did bring back memories of my younger days in my hometown many years ago.

So I hear rumours that tomorrow we are going to get snow, freezing rain, rain --- Bad weather.
So I got out the door for four walks today .. my knee is suffering a little and my back is hurting. My back began hurting in the swimming pool today as I did laps. I was hoping after sitting in the hot tub it would be better.. that helped somewhat but I still feel it.
I went to the doctor today.. the new medicine he had prescribed for me .. was giving me extreme dizziness and nausea. So today he changed it.. I wonder if that has anything to do with the little weight loss ...?

Of course I had my camera with me most of today.. enjoy........

Did I mention that we stopped to eat lunch?

I think the couch is calling me back!

February 6, 2017 (6.0 miles). 13,000 steps

Well all morning I just sat on the couch. Then just before noon I suggested to Noni that we go for a walk. We walked to Wendy's to buy a chilli and Dalhousie had a burger.
I'm surprised now that I'm home I still feel strong... that is a good thing.

Here are a few things we seen on our neighbourhood walk
putting on some spikes for traction

just like the real trail, we have bridges to cross streams

I'm a bird watcher always

just two house that I thought were cute

Dalhousie did good today

Went out for a drive and found a place to do a little walkabout. We must come back here for a picnic -- it's beautiful

Driving home it was nice to see

Those pictures might be good, but I'm really really BAD
. I we were hungry and had a craving...
Dalhouise enjoyed it too.. -- actually we received a free bag of popcorn chicken - Dalhouise loved those

I was sitting on the couch.. Enjoying the birds feeding on my balcony watching the morning pass by... It was sunny... Then it became cloudy ... Noni said it was going to rain... I better get my butt out the door. Dalhouise and I bundle up with our rain gear and head out..
We ended up walking the shoreline of the Manquam River down to the Squamish River.

Now I am home back on the couch.. Watching over 40 Pine Siskins feed at my feeders with a few flurries of snow falling.

Glad to see you Ginger. It is HOT down here in Virginia. I feel like July took over since last week. We have been getting a lot of storms, good that I don't have to water, but bad in a sense no time to do anything when I get home. I got grass coming in my flower beds that I can't stand.

I do take time to enjoy Life sometimes

Deliver came - delivery came around 8:30 ish we were just finishing breakfast. So all my stress and anxiety was not needed... But I will make sure I stock pile enough food to the future to cover delivery days. Last year we had nothing but issues with them coming late in the afternoon many times, I was told this issue was solve... Sales people are liars.

Today if it is not raining the plan is to rest,do some easy hiking and or do some cycling, keep an eye open for any bears wandering along the road and hopefully see some birds and get a picture of these. Most importantly not to be ran over by any crazy speeding intoxicated car drivers.
Long weekend is here... Hurray.. Pay day was yesterday, I am off for three whole days. I usually fill theses days up with activities - but so far I have no plans other than the above mentioned

i put the two cups of rice and a cup or cole slaw in the microwave dishand added the adobe rubbed pork chops; the rice cooks up and around the chops and it is very good. cooked for 35 minutes on 70% power in a 1000 watt microwave....really easy to fix all in onedish

Made time ths day to take the car into the service center for its spring semi annual maintence and winter tires removal.. Shopping for the supplies to cook Mac and cheese for fifty people at church Sunday and to go for a two and half hour bike ride and a visit with Mom. I guess it was a successful day... I even BBQ supper for Noni and I. I did some birding while riding our bikes and came across this unknown duck.. It looks like a Mallard hybrid cross with either a Green wing Teal or Wigeon..

So I bought the bike rack but so far it remains inside my car. But that is ok because I did go for a hour walk with the Dalhouise and then this afternoon went biking riding with my wife for two hours. Man there is a lot of up hills compared to the down hills.
In the sun it was very warm - but the shaded areas sure were cooler.. Should I wear my jacket or not... One moment I was too hot then I was chilled to the core. For awhile I took off my outer heavy jacket and tried to pedal to keep warm but that wind.
Oh that wind howled in my ears... Litteraly howling so loud .. and cold on my chest and stomach.. So back on went my jacket - and it felt so warm and cozy.

I like naps - shorter ones would be better as I don't want to waste my days sleeping. Pain.. I know alittle about this too - I was involved in a head on car collision going back now almost ten years - I survived.... I healed above and beyond expectations thanks to the grace and mercy of God... But I do have pins and rods inside my body that help keep me humble. And pains that are both related from the accident and the fact I am not getting any younger...
Time... Right now I am unemployed - that is changing in 45 days or so as I have been told the start up date of my seasonal employment is April 11 --- then I won't have time for the fun things anymore for six months. That is not fully true I make time to have fun even during the working season.... But I do live and breath my job. I love my job. I treat it as I am the owner and thus. Must be on top of all things related to running the kitchen with care - pride - responsibility and love. Just so you have an idea I am given two younger usually immature - poorly motivated helpers to be my helpers - ie dishwashers front of the house people.. my wife and I do all cooking to feed 180 people three meals a day and a snack. So what time is left is given over for Rest..
It takes six months to recover from this.....

We had an ice storm move in yesterday, so no church for 3 weeks straight due to power outages and the weather. I got a lot done around the house. I was amazed at my yard, full of sparrows, flickers, blue jays, chickadees, cardinals. I don't think I have ever seen so many in my front yard at once.

Taking a deep breath......

I wish I had time to sleep like that. The only time I have to nap is after I have had a muscle relaxer or pain pill. Then I sleep until I feel like getting up. Then most of the day is gone. I don't like it though. Most of the time, I have things that I want to get done and don't get them done because I slept so long. This is not fair. I have a life that I want to live and want to do it with less or no pain,

So today is / was the first day of March.. It came in cold like 4 c and rose to 8 c and it was overcast. I will declare it coming in like a lion so it will end like a lamb...
Living where I do - on the west coast of main land BC this month will usher in Spring - we are always a month ahead of the eastern provinces.. I think...
Today after church and a short visit with Mom I came home and napped for two hours.. I must had been real tired.

Sorry I've been away for so long. Hubby was in a bad car wreck but at least he is still with us. I'll tell you the details later. Have been looking after him. He is getting more independent every day and for that I'm thankful. He even drove himself over to Fantastic Sam's to get a haircut today. I have been battling Fibromyalgia pain all week and today is the first time that I've felt decent all week.

Yesterday I finally went to the George Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Delta BC. It was a fabulous day birding. The drive getting to it was not the most pleasant but all was forgotten in the joy of seeing so many birds, including three lifers.
I went hoping to see the Sandhill Crane, ( I did) but I also saw the Great Horned Owl and the Black crowned Heron.. Just amazing. My listed bird seen for the day ---- Trumpter Swans, American Coots, American Widgeons, Northern Pintails, Rock Doves, Euraisan Doves, Robins, Starlings, Canada Geese, Mallard Ducks, Spotted Towhees, Song Sparrows, Fox Sparrows, Black capped Chickadees, Red wing Blackbirds, Great Blue Heron, Northern Shovelers, Wood Ducks, Hooded Mergansers , Common Mergansers, Buffleheads, Golden crown Kinglets, Anna Hummingbirds, Cooper Hawk, Bald Eagles, and Greater and Lesser Scaups.
I think that includes my list of the day - like I said it was a fabulous day.

Can you believe it ? I seen the Great Grey Owl.
I loss sleep over the anticipation of getting up early to go hiking to find this bird.
My friend finally responded to the FB message I left him earlier in the day.. He phoned me and gave clear concise directions of where people are seeing this Owl. Read my blog for more information on the situation...
I am so pleased this is two new life birds for me in two days.
Yesterday it was the Horned Grebe and now today the Great Gray Owl

What will be next.....

I have been enjoying the birds that come to my feeder faithfully every day. It would be nice to see more variety, but that is not probably going to happen. Thirty days give or take.. That is all that remains of my Condo living. April first we go on vacation to Mexico for a week. Then even a few days earlier than we first thought - we move to the summer cabin and begin working for the next six months.

Sounds like a busy job.It must be exciting with all of those children trying to make them all happy on the same day ;)
We have 3 acres in NM . I seem to enjoy struggling with the environment to keep things neat and pretty out here. .I used to have a lot more feeders out then I do now .It has gotten so expensive to buy the seed. I put out several humming bird feeders over their season here. They were a full time job at our last house .
The sun is so strong here it is tricky to have a veggie garden. But I think I have it figured . Last year I had bunnies ,quail, and ground squirrel that really appreciated my efforts LOL Lets see how my plan goes this year emoticon

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.

The grass is growing longer each day in my flower pot. That is really all I can say for my gardening adventures right now. Living in a Condo six months out of the twelve and throw a two or three week vacation away in there too, during our winter - Gardening is not possible.
So you think I have the other six months of spring - summer - fall. In a normal reality that would be true. However I do not live in a normal reality at this point in time of my life. I am a chef at a children's camp - my wife and I run / manage / cook - bake - order - inventory --- just face it we do everything involving the production of feeding 180 or more mouths everyday for six months. I have no time to Garden. I barely have time to walk for enjoyment.
Bird watching is a little easier but not what I am doing now... I throw food out the kitchen door and I get a few coming for a treat. I have two hummingbird feeders at my cabin that entertains both my wife and I and our quest
This year I plan on placing more feeders both at the cabin and at the kitchen area so I have th opportunity to see birds not just hungry mouths

Good day - it is a sunny warm day with full spring like beauty happening all around me.
It is almost too good to be true. I am waiting for the hammer to fall. This is still mid February - March is coming.. March could be so long and miserable. I dread even thinking about it.
But for today. .... I gotta get outside and enjoy a warm sunny day.
