Are there any good places for walking or running dogs around Evansville?

This may be a stupid question but - where is parking to get down by the riverfront? I always wonder that when I drive around there. Do you turn in and drive down by the river to park?

Rivertown trail in Newburgh is a great place to walk, run or ride a bike. The Evansville greenway is really nice.

I used to park on waterworks road and walk along the river to Franklin street.

BUMP

I would love to revive this thread. How is everyone staying active, particularly as Fall sets in and the really humid, hot weather is hopefully behind us for a bit.

I really enjoy the trails around USI but I just got a membership at the YMCA for our family and hope to take advantage of some yoga classes and the pool.

I live right across the street from the Howell wetlands, so I go walking there about two or three times a week when it's warm enough. I'd definitely recommend it, it's a lovely place. I'd also recommend Wesselman's park (dunno if I spelled that right) and their little nature reserve. I don't get out there as often as I'd like, but it's really gorgeous and relaxing.

Another lovely place to walk is Audobon State Park. It's just over the bridge to Henderson. It's a nice, pretty, peaceful park. It's also got a lot of hills to give you a more strenuous workout than just walking on flat pavement.

Looking for someone that lives in the Scott School district to walk with. I walk briskly. Also like to walk at 4-H Center. Since I am starting a new job, I wouldn't be able to walk until the evening 2-3 times per week and on weekends. Let me know if you are interested.

i jogged around Garvin Park for the first time a couple days ago and it was great. i have such a hard time jogging outside for some reason, but that particular day was very rejuvinating. why is it that i can jog on a treadmill just fine but when im outside i feel like i cant breath properly. i cant do the whole, in your nose out your mouth thing.

A mistake is only made when you dont learn a lesson from your action.

I really enjoy walking/jogging around by the State Hospital. Also, on weekends and as long as it's light out, Garvin Park has a nice area. Also, learning from participating in the Team 13 (YMCA), up and down Franklin St. is pretty good times. The best part is it's staying lighter out.
I too, like DIXIEDD, suggest joining 'Jump Start' and 'Team 13'. It was such a great accomplishment and such a joy meeting people who are in the same boat as you are.

There are very limited places to walk outside, like the parks and a few campuses, so I generally go to the gym. I also hate walking/running in the rain, which seems to be a staple to the weather lately.

Last night we tried walking at Wesselman Park and really enjoyed that. There were so many active people. Some were walking dogs, running with dogs, bicycling, running, jogging, walking with strollers, playing frisbee football, playing children. It was a very fun walk for us.

Blessings, Denise

Our favorite place is the riverfront. Most of the time we are finishing up our walk and are able to watch the sunset. It's a great place to stay motivated because a lot of people walk, run, rollerblade, ride bikes, push strollers, etc.

Blessings, Denise

There are walking and bike trails along the Ohio river. Wesselmanns woods has circuit training and trails. There are several community pools with only $1 to get in. We live with a half hour of New Harmony State park. Audubon state park is just across the river. I think they might still have paddle boats. We have a roller skating rink.

As most of you know, the ville is not the easiest place to stay active (sitting in traffic on the LLoyd doesnt exactly work the glutes!).

Now its warming up what are some ideas to get active and have more variety?
