Cool! Thanks, I'll bookmark it. I'm doing one at that same location on 5/5/12 ( www.newthing.org/events/363-newthing
k-event ) Maybe, if I survive the first one I'll sign up for that one too!
I wanted to invite everyone to a 5k (3.2 miles) race in Plainfield, IL on 5/26/12 that benefits the Wounded Warrior Project. All proceeds from the race (registration and t-shirt sales) go to this wonderful foundation, whose purpose is to (taken from their website):
-To raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members.
-To help injured service members aid and assist each other.
-To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members
To uphold these ideals, WWP provides psychiatric care, physical therapy funds, support groups for the vet and their families, job finding assistance/training, etc. My dad asked me if I would run this race for him, as he is a retired Marine and cannot run the race himself due to a chronic foot injury. You can find out more about this amazing charity here http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
The 5k race is Saturday, May 26th at 8:00 am, and is sponsored by Operation Welcome You Home. The race starts and stops in downtown Plainfields' Settlers Park, and both runners and walkers are welcome. The race fee is $25 online before May 16th and race day registration is $30. You can find more info and register here
Even if you cannot make it and you have a moment, I would really appreciate it if you would forward this info to anyone that might be interested in participating in a fitness oriented, worthwhile cause.
I hope you (and maybe some friends and family!) consider joining in this small endeavor to raise funds for The Wounded Warrior Project.
