Trying a new lentil burger recipe today. Although I have gained back 20 lbs it looks like 40 lbs. I am also walking a great deal so I know that my diet is key to my weight loss. I am restarting with the lentil recipe. I propose to try something new each week.

So I completed 30 days of exercise in a row. I took a few days off. Now on to a challenge of my own creation. 50 days of Pilates. Why Pilates? I want to strengthen my core and increase my flexibility. Side note 5 more days til my birthday emoticon

Day 13! The challenge was to sneak in exercise into your day. I wanted to up the ante so I did free step on wii while watching a show. I paused the game during the commercial breaks to do jumping jacks and push ups! emoticon

I am on week 2 of the 28 day bootcamp challenge. Got derailed by the storm and missed the video, but got in cardio as i walked 2 miles to my house. Did day 3 and 4 the next day. I want to earn my new boots emoticon

I've started working out with a really neat personal trainer a couple times a week. The other days I am working on cardio and am going to be starting a walk/run routine on my cardio days to build up to being able to do a 3 mile distance. I'll keep you posted!

Any gals out there like me who have 100+ lbs to lose, love the outdoors, and is willing to walk/run the Pretty Muddy 5k Run with me in October? I'd love to have company. I'll mostly be walking the course with a few short jogs in between, but I have always wanted to do a Mud Run! This one is for all women (sorry fellas! You can come cheer us on though!).

I went to a park last week with my cousins. I don't remember the name of the park but it was really nice with a long walking path and two cool exercise mechanisms. One was some kind of leg thing that makes you swing your legs left and right. It is an oblique workout, I guess, and the other was a crunch machine. I never seen these at a park before. I was like a little kid finding a new toy.

I love to walk, and this great sunshine we have been having in Atlanta has really got me motivated to get out and do just that, but my son got a great price for an exercise bike on Craigslist and today I start incorporating that into my fitness as well. Good weather or bad, I have a way to succeed!

Happy Sunday all,
New bike - I'm with you Marsha. Just got one myself from a friend that used it ONCE. I'm excited! Took it to the airport last weekend, while my DH flew the helicopter, I made laps in the parking lot! More to come of that!

Cathy, not sure how to do the link a game thing but I'm with you about doing something different and fun. I'll check it out this week and more I hope! Keep the ideas coming, I'm game for anything that helps get us out there.

MissyGeen - With you on the prepackaged oats - I do mine fresh in the micro every morning, today was with a fresh apple chopped, cinnamon and some SF syrup - YUM.

Out of it yesterday with this sinus/cold thingy but back in shape today. Just got back from a walk to Lenox with my DH. 4 miles down for the week already! New shoes are feeling good.

Now to get in gear and plan my week's foods/menu. Have to get my ducks in a row to make it simple.

Acorn squash for breakfast is really good. It beats those per-packaged sugar laden oatmeal packs. I am really getting into the squash this winter. I guess my new thing would be to try and stay in season with the fruit and veggies and make a new recipe each week.

My DH signed us up for a 5K for mid-March so I'm getting into gear. I don't run. I've tried (even a lighter and younger me tried) and end up with knee and back pain so speed walking is what I have planned. But I am doing it! It's a great cause - our fallen soldiers.

I'm doing the Friday dance (kick boxing) and looking forward to the weekend.

LOL! I shouldn't have said a word about the morning traffic! I live about 2 minutes north of 285 so I don't have a long commute at all, but coming out of Fulton at 2:30'ish today was like being on Noah's Ark! Be careful out there folks!!! Good news was that folks were driving very cautiously and had their hazard lights on so you had a chance to see them.

Enjoy your 5K Program!!! What a wonderful gift to yourself!!

Someone told me about Good Measure Meals today. Maybe I'm just behind, but I was really excited! Someone cooking healthy, calorie-counted, nutritious meals for me? I think I could enjoy that!!! I'm going to investigate it a bit further, but I may try it out for a week and see how it is! My friend is really enjoying it!

Sorry I didn't connect yesterday - BUSY day!!!
Susan, I hope you made it yesterday!!! Let us know how you did and remember, today is the beginning of another new start. Go for it NOW.
Cathy, glad to hear you are getting back to your old self. Still, remember to be gentle with yourself, no relapses here!

Everyone take time to PLAN YOUR WEEK!!! Help make it easy on yourself by packing good, healthy foods for your lunches, have breakfast foods ready and available, and monitor your evenings with preplanned meals so you don't play havoc with a well planned day. I'm looking forward to hearing how everyone did this last week and what your SOMETHING new is this week.

I'm doing the green smoothies for either breakfast or morning snacks to get the most power from my fruits and vegetables. I'm using a regular blender so they are a bit lumpy but they are still good and I'm upping by exercise time for Feb. to 30 minutes and increasing my weekly miles. I figured I did the basics in Jan. and now kicking it up a notch for Feb.

Hey Susan I am near the Forum as well but haven't been brave enough to walk there. I will walk to the Publix near my house and regret the walk all the way back but by then it's too late, there is no other way to get back home lol :-) I have thought about walking around the Forum a few times and reminding myself not to go into Atlanta Bread. Besides, Trader Joes is the best thing there.

If you want to walk around the Forum sometime just let me know or anyone else that wants to join me up there.

I need to do 13000 steps today to make my weekly goal 8000 left to do, may be a challenge, as I need to finish my bookkeeping project for taxes. Going to take small breaks and get it done!! Happy Saturday, glad we dodged the ice storm yesterday!!

Thank all for the warm welcome! Getting ready to go walk my dog, that should put me over my 10,000 step goal. The fitbit makes me think about moving more, I will just randomly go up and down my stairs or last night I was walking around my house to make sure I surpassed my goal, so it is making me move!! I have reigned in the food so far this week, so hoping for some results. We live up by the Forum, and are about 3 miles from it, I walked it in the past, but need to find more time now. That's a great idea, to walk with Hubby, as it gets lighter, we just may do that!! Happy Sparking, and stay safe!

Enjoy the weather today because, as Susan said, tomorrow will be freezing rain. Welcome aboard Susan and glad to hear about your Fitbit. Keep us updated.

THURSDAY IS KICK IT IN GEAR DAY. Check your weekly goals and put forth the effort to MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Let us know what you KICKED in gear! My DH and I walked to Lenox and back last night (3 miles round trip) so it was Qi Gong this morning to get back in balance.

First time visiting this thread. Hope everyone feels better, and stays safe, they are talking freezing rain for tomorrow. Don't like ice, wish it would at least be pretty snow! Just got a new Fitbit for Christmas, love it. Makes me move a lot more! Stay warm!

Good Morning SparkAtlanta!

It's going to be another cold, crisp, day with lots of sunshine! I've been walking in spite of the cold - just bundling up. My first reward is a new pair of work out shoes/walkers when I drop the first 15 so I'm determined to get it done.

Cathy, I know it's awful to feel so bad. Continue to nurse yourself to health.

Missy - Good for you in thinking out of the box and pulling out a video - I tell you, these 10-15 minute one on SP are amazing. They let me try different types of workout without buying the video and then not liking it. You go girl!

SOUPS - I love to come home to a good bowl of soup on a day like this so load up the crock pot with veggies, bullion cubes, spices, water and let it simmer!

TODAY IS STRESS REDUCTION DAY. How are you relieving your stress today?

Wednesdays are always so busy for me at work so I make my morning routine simple by checking my daily menu - don't have to make lunch, we get it at work today - just adding an orange for a snack. I am also taking a 10 minute BATH this morning after my 10 minute workout. Kickboxing today-yeah!

I profess to hate videos, I'd prefer to hit the gym. Well this morning I did not have my car and it was really cold outside. I refused nothing, so I whipped out a Walk Away the Pounds DVD. It wasn't bad at all. Lesson learned, if you tell yourself you hate it, you set yourself up for failure. I will now say that I like DVDs when I can't get out.

Did someone say soup? Check out the produce section at Kroger. The soup starters are great! A little expensive so I wait for the mark down. It beats the can stuff.

My challenge today is maintaining focus with all that is going on around me and the meds I'm on for my first ever sinus infection. Boy do I feel loopy!

Also, I've not been really hungry lately, so I think that will be challenging to make myself eat enough today.

Only 9 more days of this loopy feeling!

My challenge today is going to be to get well. Oh what a nasty virus!!! I'm going to rest, drink my tea, eat simple foods, and doing some healing exercise if my body feels up to it later. Today is about taking care of me.

Cathy - sinus problems are real drawbacks. I have them too. I may try your tea. Can you message me what it is? Thanks and good luck with the video.

I tried out Qi Gong this morning. I'm "feeling" the aging in my bones so I wanted something gentle today. I have a FULL day with my senior adults. I did the 15 video on SP and it is wonderful. I may incorporate it into my evenings to help "heal" the pressures of the day.

Nutrition - I tried a new Ginger/peppercorn tea recipe that is opening my clogged sinues!
Fitness - I have a new DVD that I'm using each day to target a different area for strength training
