Free, that's awesome! Yes, I used the Couch to 5K last year when I first started running and it worked great for me - especially once I learned to be patient with myself! :) Good luck! I'll be cheering you on!
I will also be participating in the Publix 5K. I walked last year, this year I'm completing the Couch to 5K program. This program suppossedly conditions you to build enough endurance to run/jog. I am hoping to run this one. And I am pretty psyched .
I'm excited that we have so many SparkAtlanta members participating in the race event as runners, walkers and volunteers! Maybe something to consider in the future is getting a team of SparkAtlanta Team members to run an aid station on the course of some of Atlanta's larger race events. I think that would be a lot of fun! I think it would also be a fun way to not just get to know each other, but to spread the word about Spark, show the community and other race participants we are excited for them, and also for team members who aren't ready for a race yet to still be part of the events and get to see what they're all about!
Girl! You can sooo train for a half once you are healed up!!!
jeff galloway and john bingham have some great training plans! google free training and either of their names and you should still be able to find free versions of their plans, if not, let me know and i'll send you something!
But watch out, they are addictive!!!
Marathon Maniac #4140 / Half Fanatic #368
19 Half Marathons, 11 Marathons (2 were ultras) 4 triathons, 1 relay (200 miles) ALL with great friends, many whom I met on Spark!
The weekend of March 19-20 is the Publix Georgia Marathon/Half-Marathon weekend! They will also be hosting a 5K and a few other smaller events, so all levels can participate!
If you are not registering as a participant this year, consider volunteering. It's a great way to help out and be involved and learn about what an event like this looks like if you've not been part of one before. I will be volunteering with the Gear-Check on Sunday morning, and would love to have some fellow Sparkers join in! The Sunday races start at Centennial Olympic Park, but there are events on Friday and Saturday at the Georgia Dome and in Grant Park as well.
