I hope he doesn't either. We all know that he's not the fastest in the world, especially with all his leg, hip, and groin injuries lately. I just got a kick out of him actually stealing.

He told Jim Price before the game that he was comfortable as the 2nd batter, that he can bunt and he can steal. I hope we don't see him try to bunt though...

I have accepted that this is the way baseball is, with a big lead vanishing in the blink of an eye (inning). I didn't expect them to win any games in Boston and to come home 0-2, but to have 2-0 so close and have it all blow up in the 8th was stunning, even if baseball can sometimes be that way.

If I had my way they would not have put in Benoit to pitch to Big Papi, and they would have walked him with the bases loaded, because 5-2 going into the 9th is a lot better than 5-5 (or 5-whatever if he'd hit a double). There are some players you don't pitch to when they can do major damage against you, and thankfully the best one is on our team.

But that is hindsight and I am not the manager...

The announcer bias will get worse from now on now that they move to Fox, I prefer the bias *for* the Tigers I get from the radio announcers (Dan and Jim work for the Tigers, so the bias is blatant and unabashed).

I give a lot of the credit for the series win the Jim Leyland. Lots of haters in Michigan are down on Leyland and want him to go, repeating what they heard from some sportswriter or someone I never listen to, but he won this series. His use of pitching, putting Scherzer in for relief in game 4 and lining Verlander and not Sanchez (who was better this season) up for the game 5 was brilliant. He made some other good decisions, such as playing Peralta at short last night instead of Iglesias who has been struggling with his bat.

Now we can enjoy Friday and get ready for the party Saturday night as we travel with the team (in spirit) to Boston to tackle that Green Monster.

Postseason games are always nail-biters, every pitch counts. Try turning the sound off on the TV and tuning in to Dan Dickerson and Jim Price out of Detroit on the Detroit Tigers Radio Network. Play call is far superior to the national guys, and you can look away during particularly tense moments while not missing anything. Tigers radio will carry all the games through the World Series, I never ever have to listen to Joe Buck on Fox (I don't like that guy at all).

The Postseason ticket prices get more expensive the further into it they get. I went last year to ALDS game 1 in Detroit and the Face value of the ticket, which was in the upper deck almost IN the scoreboard, was $70 each, plus the fees. Those aren't very good seats, good seats are considerably more expensive (I would guess 3x as much as regular season, or more?). ALCS is even more of a price gouge, and WS are only available from the ticket scalpers (ie Stubhub and other brokers who charge far higher than Face). I know because my buddy went to an ALCS game last year and had purchased WS tickets for game 5 (from a scalping broker), which were refunded because there wasn't a game 5.

To me those prices aren't worth it, I wouldn't pay $70 plus fees plus gas to drive from Grand Rapids, and food, just for a baseball game. It was a neat experience and very cool, but it was still just a baseball game similar to any other I could see during the season. My friend tried to get us tickets to ALDS game 2 in Detroit this year though, he was on the website at 10 minutes past 12 on the Tuesday when they went on sale (the site makes you sit in a queue for that long to get tickets) and the only thing available for 2 tickets together was Standing Room Only. Ticket "scalping" brokers had purchased all the blocks of tickets before that to sell at higher than face value, which I think should be illegal. emoticon He is going alone and I am not, but at those prices I will just have my own party at my house instead. emoticon

Let's Go Tigers!

The Tigers need one more win or one Cleveland loss to clinch the division. They won last night, but so did Cleveland, making the magic number I was meaning go from 2 to 1. If the Tigers lose tonight and so does Cleveland the Tigers will clinch anyway. It would be almost statistically impossible for the Tigers to not win one more game *and* the Indians to win them all from here to the end of the season, so I'm not worried.

They will probably spray champagne and make general fools of themselves for winning the Central tonight, I hope. Then they can (should) rest Cabrera so he can heal for the postseason.

The magic number has been 1 since Sunday - they're making me a nervous wreck. Just looked at post season tickets - the tickets themselves aren't bad - they get you with the handling fees.

And the magic number is one! We would have celebrated if Cleveland hadn't had that walk-off HR against the ChiSox last night. I want Cleveland to do well (as long as the Tigers win the Central) so they can be the Wild Card team and beat Boston for us.

Yes, I had a great time. I took one of my great-nieces because she wanted to go to a game. It was the first time I had ever gone with any of my nieces and nephews. There was a lot of regulars that didn't play, though and I was disappointed with the final score. I can't wait for Miggy to get healed.

Hope you have a great time at the game. Wait, what am I talking about, of course you will have a great time, you are going to a game! Even when they lost 9-1 in the rain in April 2012 I had a great time at the game. I've been going to at least one a year since 2004 and only once did I not have a great time (a rainout).

Bummer - I fell asleep in the 8th. I remember in the early 70s when the Tigers were down 4-0 in the ninth. They tied it up, then someone hit a grand slam. For the life of me, I can't remember who it was. Going to the game today - wishing the magic number was one.

What an amazing game I just watched. Down 6-0 going to the bottom of the 9th, the Tigers win 7-6 in 12 innings. I didn't even turn the game off early, even though they said on TV that a 6 run deficit hadn't been overcome in the 9th since 1947. Guess I was bored tonight, to have hung in on a game going that poorly, but it paid off in the end.

Magic number is 2! Go Tigers!
