I have vitamin E in the jar but it comes out slow like Mollasses? I am thinking where i can get some little pretty containers could i could give some to this girls at the gym who always help me out? Oh maybe Michaels or JoAnnes?

I love shea butter. I mix it with almond oil in my salt scrub so it won't be so runny. It makes it more solid and less liable to drip. I also make a vanilla lavender body butter with it. Sheaterra Organics used to sell the best quality African Shea butter in bulk but now they don't sell the pure bulk shea anymore so now I get it at Camden Grey, but it's not the same as the pure African Shea butter from Ghana. It was smoother and much darker in color with a nuttier fragrance. I'm so spoiled LOL

I don't know where I have been, I just learned of Shea Butter and I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, My legs stayed so dry from age or what ever, I used it on my legs and they are so smooth, I melted some and mixed it with my hair grease, my hair has a new texture, I mixed it with my Oil of Olay, works great, and I also put it in my body lotion now if I can figure out how to put it into my bubble bath that would be cool...But I will never stop using it..
I am what I am, and I am what I need to be!!!

When you guys say "lotion" are we referring to the whipped shea butter or the shea with aloe.

Partially melt shea butter to a softer consistency. Add oils.. blend until whipped.
Or.
Melt everything to a liquid. Stick it in the freezer, every 10 mins take out and whip. Repeat until whipped.
You can also add a 2 capsules of Vitamin E to add more benefits and to help with preservative.
Leave in a cool place.

I would like to go natural but my hair looks so dry. what do you recommend I use on it. I get it wet a lot because of water aerobics. I usually put a lot of grease on it and let it dry but once it dries it looks dry.

I recently made a batch of shea butter with aloe and gel. I put this on my hair after I washed it. When I took my twists down, they were so soft!

KENI13, I use my lotion everyday and I only make 16ozs at a time, so storing is not a problem for me. An herbalist told me that if I am making large amount, use Vegetable Glycerin, this works as a preservative.

Thanks, ladies!

Also, i asked this lady who specializes in holistic hair care and all natural, she tells me that she uses caster oil whipped in Shea butter. She mentioned other oils that are good for the hair, i think some of them was rosemary, jasmine, and olive oil. So far, I just mixed the olive oil and shea to give it a creamier texture and its easier to put on my hair.

SUPERCUTE I do use pure aloe gel but not juice. I've got a lot of gel leftover, so I've got to use that up before I upgrade to juice. Maybe I'm just using too much oil? I'll go with a lighter oil.
SWILLIS Maybe I will pick up some grapeseed oil this weekend. Thanks for the recipe.

Hello Queens, I hope you're having a blessed day. There is an herbal shop here in Saint Louis call Cheryl's Herbs. She truely has the best aloe vera gel (noting like what is sold in stores). Here's the website: www.cherylsherbs.com. Look under miscellaneous ingredients. If you want less greaseness, instead of using olive oil, use grapeseed oil. She also has a marshmallow emollient that is great for your hair, I mix it with aloe gel to spray on my hair. This make my hair very soft and easy to comb. Now for my skin I do not use lotions. I use: 1cup of aloe vera gel 1/4 cup of grapeseed oil 1/4 cup raw shea butter (melted) 5 drops of lavender essential oil 3 drops of roman chamomile essential oil 5 drops of lemon essential oil Mix together.
Lemon brighten your skin and shea butter will fade any dark spots or marks. People are always giving me compliments on my skin and hair. I have more recipes for herbal treatments (skin, hair, and baths). If you would like to have them, you can email me @ swillis@stlcc.edu. I love to share beauty tips.

KEI, less aloe will definitely make the mixture more greasy. Maybe you can try pure aloe vera juice instead? Some people also purchase an emulsifier to prevent separation.

I use the yellow raw shea butter, I find it easy to whip. I use more aloe than shea butter. I melt the shea butter before adding it to any recipe that I use.

Yep, I heated my shea butter. Less aloe? Will it make the whipped shea butter too greasy?

Hi, KEIAHNAM!
How much aloe are you using for your mixture? I ask because I *think* that's the culprit. I would suggest that you use either less aloe vera or more shea butter and your mixture should not separate after that. How exactly do you make yours? Do you heat it?

Supercute, when you mix the aloe and shea butter, does it seperate? I'm having that problem with my home mixture. Do I just need to whip it some more?

I'm natural and sometimes I use a product called 'shealoe.' It's shea butter and aloe vera gel mixed together. I make it myself, but there's a natural butter/oil etc...online store called From Nature With Love (FNWL). I use about a cup of unrefined shea butter and half a cup of aloe vera gel because I like to have more moisture, but people usually use more or less depending on their hair needs.

Thanks for the websites. Not alot of people know which is why i was asking, i just met at church 2 weeks ago, she specializes in natural hair care. She let me sample some of the whipped shea butter she did herself along with other natural oils in it, but i am scared to ask because she is selling the stuff. One day when i get bored, i will surf the net myself. Thanks again.
