wow i haven't been here much because of the holidays and friends visiting. I thought i would seriously gain weight because i haven't exactly ate right. I was totally shocked when i got on the scale this morning and was 332.2 down two pounds from 4 days ago. I was giddy like a school girl!!. I met my mini goal of being 333 by the week between Christmas and New Years. Gonna try to be down by 325 by January 31st. Do you all think i can do it or is it to much?????

Hi I am Stephanie. Nice to meet ya.

Hi everyone! I'm so tired today I'm not sure the deal. There was allot of drama yesterday with family on both sides. We stayed away so we didn't get sucked into it. We did have a great Christmas staying in though and relaxing with my Son. Now it's back to plan. I let myself have a cheat day yesterday and I'm feeling so slougish now. I know it's the carbs. So today I'll be relaxing and drinking lots of water.

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Thanks Becky, I'm glad you posted that about the January challenge, I just signed up! I'm really bad about tracking my exercise minutes, I do the exercise, I just don't do the tracking! I think this challenge and this new year is a perfect time to get this back on track!

Tiger awesome job on the loss. I know how that feels not losing for months then finally it starts again. Did you do anything different? Way to go!!

Abaker, you can do this. It's hard when your on a stall and nothing moves. Just keep going. I don't have any advice since Im starting over, but I know you can do this. You already got rid of 67 pounds. That's amazing..

Fitgirl, sounds like a fun time. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! I love going and looking at any lights. Here we have a thing called Zoo Lights. We love going every year because they do the whole zoo up in lights. They make animals from the lights and have them dancing around on the ponds and stuff. So much fun!

My weekend was tough. I ended up baking for my family and husbands work. It didn't really temp me until the bark which I just had a little and I felt kinda sick after since I've been sugar free for over a week. I haven't baked since last year and had no idea how bad it would make my back feel after standing there all day. I need to remember to take breaks so I don't suffer. It does make me worry about when I go back to work if I'm going to be able to do it. I'm so worried. Hopefully I can build my core a little more and take some weight off by Feb and I'll feel better.
Hope everyone else is doing great!!

Good morning everyone! I'm Amy and I'm new to the team. So far I've lost 67 pounds and then I've stalled, so I really need a big kick in the butt to get me to my goal which is only 10 pounds away!! I've signed up for a half marathon in May which is something that I never thought my 218 pound self would every be able to consider, much less do!! I'm starting to train for it which is really starting to get my motivation in gear. I'm struggling right now with food over the holidays (baking cookies with my kids for Santa, etc.). I'm really excited about joining this team and getting to know all of you!

Good day all

Well I have been working since Dec 15 straight and the only day off I get is Christmas day. So I have been very busy so I have tracked, but I am keeping an eye on what I eat and making sure not to eat just because I am bored. Only eat when I am hungry.

I have huge news. In one week I lost 5.2 lbs. My jaw dropped to the ground. I havent had a weight loss like that in months

2livestrong you can do this. Just pick yourself up and keep going. Good luck!!

Having a good weekend so far. My son is worrying me a little bit. We might stop by the little clinic to get him checked over just in case. Gonna do some baking today for my husband's work and neighbors. I can't wait until next week so I can start going to the gym again. I got the ok from the Dr. to do a little workout. No more than 20 minutes at a time, but that's ok. I can handle that. Once my incision heals completely I can go back to swimming and water aerobics.

Hope everyone has an awesome Sunday! Go Cardinals!!

Yesterday I made horrible food choices but not letting it spoil all that I've done so far. Moving on...drinking lots of water and making the best of today.

A good way to get fiber in your diet is to eat more fruits and vegetables. Another way to get fiber in your diet is to eat whole grains and nuts. Here's a great link from Mayo Clinic.

Hey all

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get more fiber into my diet. That is something apparently I have always struggled with.

Btw three day streak of tracking everything. I am working on being back on track again. I am also going to be working alot until the new year so I wont have time for mindless snacking which will help hehe

Hey all

Well things will hopefully turn around for me now. I have two part time jobs started one at the beginning of the month at the Wine Rack. And I start another one on Dec 15 at Kia Gus Ravensburg dealership. The WR is going to be crazy busy the week of Christmas so for a job that I would only normally get 15 hrs a week max I will be getting almost 30 hrs that week. And once I am out of training at Kia I will be regularly getting 23 hrs there. So Full time hours between both.

With working so much I will be able to keep track better of what I eat and I wont be sitting around my place munching all day because I am bored and stressed. I am going to try to post on the board a few times a week

Good evening friends! I am feeling better today. I've been under the weather since Saturday but finally this evening I've been more like myself. I finished putting up the Christmas decorations tonight. emoticon emoticon emoticon My house finally feels festive and ready!!!!!

I am hoping that tomorrow I feel even better and I can get back to exercise! I have been able to workout since last week and that's unfortunate considering that last week went so well.

So, tell me - how is everyone??? emoticon

Good evening friends. I had a good day. This morning was my upper/lower body strength class and boy was it challenging, but I made it through most of it. After that I did a little shopping and then came home and had lunch. It wasn't raining after lunch so I took Marv for a walk and then came back and raked up leaves until my back hurt so much I quit. Then I came in and worked on writing in my Christmas cards. I still have about 10 left to write in and I still have another few I would like to make, but it feels good to have made such good progress.

WTG Dana!!! get those exercises in, i will have to go look her up. I am wanting to find something to do.

I know i need to take my laptop to my bedroom and quit making the excuses the kids are awake, cause i hate exercising in front of them. I ended up splurging on some frieds and some crab rangoons on my birthday but for the most part i stayed away from the deep fried stuff during the last week. I only gain .2 pounds over it which i am really impressed with!! Usually i gain about a pound or 4. so to have that little of a gain was sweet.

Hi I am Stephanie. Nice to meet ya.

Just thinking. I haven't tried it, but I bet some other veggies could be crisped in the microwave too. Maybe carrots, beets, and other root types? I've seen veggie crisps in the health food stores.

Wow, that really is a good idea Ironbess! Thanks for sharing.

Stephanie, I addressed TOM over in the December Challenge before I saw this post. My TOM is due this week as well and today I had one too many holiday oreo cookies. I have been craving crunchy stuff. So, I bought some carrots and will stop by the grocery store on my way to work in the morning to grab some hummus. But tonight, I gave into them oreos chile! Lol, I don't regret it though. I am just glad I didn't eat half of the pack because they were that good!

On another note, I burned 718 calories tonight with my workout! I am pumped!! Had anyone ever heard or tried Blogilates? If you don't know what it is, look it up. She has tons of videos on YouTube. I actually started doing her videos several years ago. I ended up restarting her beginner's program yesterday. Great way to get my resistance training in for the week. :0)
Tonight I did the beginners day 2 videos which was about 20 minutes. And I did 75 minutes on my Elliptical. That is the longest I have done on there in a while. I am proud of myself and patting myself on the back. :0)

Thanks IRONBESS for sharing. I will definitely have to try this sometime since I LOVE chips; especially tortilla chips with salsa.

I love fried foods too so I pretty much avoid them. If you like crunch without the fat, try microwaving thin potato slices. Also works with tortillas cut in wedges (great with salsa and other dips). Depending on your microwave's power and size, it can take anywhere from 1-2 minutes up to 8 minutes. Some recipes say to rinse and pat the potato slices dry before cooking for better flavor. I don't bother and think they taste just fine. I use a food processor to slice the potatoes. They're a little thicker that way, so I turn them over once halfway through cooking, same with tortillas. I also put the parchment right on the microwave turntable. Check often while cooking because as soon as they start to crisp they will burn really fast! They can burn your fingers too so wear a mitt or use something to pick them up. This makes just small batches.

i gave in to some french fries last night not many. And today i got that crunch with out the grease. I had some taquitos and instead of deep frying them, i baked them. So that helped with the wanting fried things.

When I had my weigh-in this morning, it shows that I have lost 2 pounds during the official Thanksgiving 7 day week. I had no idea that I had lost. , I guess that my portion control system is still working (LOL).

I created a new topic for the December Challenge. It is titled, "December Challenge Chat ONLY". I thought it would be good to have a place to chat vs. posting everything on the actual challenge. That way we don't crowd up the challenge with lots of post. The challenge really should be used just for posting the focus/goal weekly templates.

Becky, I am so glad that you are doing better. I know how it is, it comes in waves at times. Keep on, keeping on spark sista you got this!

I am continuing to hang in there. I decided to start back to writing out my exercise for the week. I saw that over the past 2 weeks I was slipping when it came to my 5 days a week plan. Can't have that! Instead of 5 days I only got in 3 days. Oh no, we are NOT going to be doing that! So I am hoping that I will stick to my workout plan for the week. I definitely want to keep seeing these awesome results! :)

Evening friends! I have been eating well the last two days. Isn't it strange how eating well, getting enough rest and drinking plenty of water will make you feel? I know - weird concept! lol!!

I'm feeling better even if I can't really do much exercise. "They" say that it's 80% nutrition and 20% fitness and after the last two days, I believe it.

How's everyone doing??

Becky I agree with SBLACKWELL93, find something you love to do that is exercise and just force yourself to do 15 mins. I did this when I recommitted to SP. I would tell myself that I was worth 15 mins, I'd say you can do anything for 15 mins and I lost weight, coupled with doing the best I could to follow my food plan. I lost slowly but I lost because I didn't give up.

Well back in town but have cataract surgery on 11/12 and fell and jarred something in my knee and my leg was giving out with a lot of pain. Went to minor emergency and they took xrays, nothing significant, will see my ortho doc tomorrow. Got stung by a bee on same knee too while out of town emoticon . SBLACKWELL93, glad you're back on track!! FITGRL124, I've been averaging a 2 lb per month weight loss since re joining SP 10/13. It was very frustrating at first but then after I went to my doctor and had all the NSV relating to my health and measured myself because people were saying I looked like I had lost weight but many times the scale didn't agree. I had lost inches all over and went down 2 dress sizes. I'm in this book study on SP, Friends with the scale and it is really helping me with my attitude towards the number on the scale. Good luck.

Barbie, Everytime you mention Bob's name I smile. I am glad you guys are still hitting it off.

Becky, Did you find your groove? I know how you feel. It takes time and patience to figure it out but I just know you will. :)

Well, I am doing REALLY well since I went back to counting calories. I have been losing weight pretty much every week. I am still juggling quite a bit on my plate, but I am managing to try to be more mindful about scheduling days off for some me time or time with my sons. I have the 21st and the 22nd scheduled off. I also took some time off in January for my birthday. I am sleeping better and working out more often. I have 17lbs left to lose before my bday which is about 11 weeks away. So I figure about 1.5lbs a week will get me there.

My life sure has been busy of late. Guess it is a good thing I am retired. LOL Today my friend and her husband came over again. Terry and I were working on crafts for my daughter's fund raiser and Terry was working on crafts for her next craft fair and classes. I got a lot completed and a lot set up to work on this week. Didn't get much else done except laundry and my exercise class. The aqua zumba teacher was gone so it just ended up being aerobics in the water, but it was still great. I also got the kitchen floor mopped and talked to Bob a lot throughout the day. Tomorrow I am skipping Qigong so I can clean the kitchen counters and bake for the Youth Bake Sale on Saturday.

Hi Stephanie and emoticon back. I am very sorry for all of those losses in your life. I have had some significant losses in my life too, but not 8 in 8 months. I can't even begin to imagine how devastating that would be. So happy that you have a supportive and caring husband and you are on track to becoming healthy and happy again. emoticon

I have been gone nearly a year now. I was dealing with alot emotionally. In the last 2 1/2 years i have some pretty significant deaths in my life that effected me really bad. I ignored myself pretty bad. I had gained all the weight i had lost plus put about 24 more pounds on. I started spark people almost 3 years ago...i was doing really well. I was at 326 when i started and had lost down to 277. Then i had 8 deaths in 8 months, 3 of those being pretty significant. My great uncle that i grew up on His farm, my 2nd step father, and my baby cousin deanna (she was only like 26). Then not even a year later my grandmother died. This was SUPER hard on me, she was my second mother. Well i got lost......and gained back up to *cover your eyes* 353 pounds.

With help of my grief therapist and my supportive husband, i am starting to find myself. I have been working on my self-esteem. Both inside and out, emotionally, mentally, and physically. I am starting to wear make up more, and dressing to make myself happy, instead of the way people think i should. I have also started working on drinking my 64 oz of water a day, starting to watch my calorie intake again, and moving more. So wish me luck and surpassing that 277 barrier i seem to have.

Hi I am Stephanie. Nice to meet ya.

Thanks NATURALLYME126, back home for a couple of days then off to NC for annual get together with siblings. I was able to get in my exercise while at my son's which is a good thing because they took me out to eat 5 out of 7 days. I did pretty good on my choices for meals, which is an improvement for me. Have a great rest of the week.

Hi Becky!

Barbie, I too am glad that your ultrasound results were alright. What type of crafts do you make?

I ordered Hip Hop Abs and tried it out for the first time today. It was pretty fun. Very fast, and I had to follow the girl that does the modified movements due to my knees. I think I will probably do it on the weekends and do other things throughout the week. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! :0)

Hi teammates. I'm sorry for not being a very good teammate. Today was another long day. I had my ultrasound bright and early this morning and just got back home which makes for a long day. I already got the results from the ultrasound and they were good. The polyp on is still very small which is a good thing. Tomorrow is Weight Watchers and then a friend is coming to spend the day so hopefully we will have fun and get lots of crafts completed. I will make efforts to catch up with everyone tomorrow.

Hi Julia!

Becky, Shred is boring to be honest. It isn't hard, it is just the same foods spread throughout the week. So I have to modify it a bit. Like I still eat what is on there, but I just make it so that I won't get bored. All it is, is a food plan and you exercising 5 days a week. Nothing big. The library carries the book here, that is where I got mine. Or I am sure you could go online to look at it.

Hey Barbie! :0)

Good evening friends. I got another awesome night of sleep. My shoulder and lower back were hurting today and it was rainy out today so I really took it easy most of the day except for going to my 75 minute Kundalini yoga tonight so now I am feeling much better.

@ Dana - We have not put a title on our relationship just yet. We started out as just friends which advanced to friends doing things together, but last week we admitted we were romantically attracted to each other. However, we are both in the midst of grief so it is still just a little complicated, but we see each other several times a week so there is definitely something there.

Barbie, I just adore you friend! I couldn't help but smile as I read about you and your guy friend. So have you put a title on it yet or are you just going with the flow?

Becky, I'm trying out the shred for 6 weeks. I need something structured like that right now. It sounds doable for me. Perhaps you should look into a structured program that encourages you to be disciplined. Just a suggestion.

Hi teammates. It's been a rather quiet Saturday. Bob and I went to watch my grandson's football game last night. We had a lot of fun, the game was pretty exciting, but unfortunately his team lost by one point. They are still ranked 3rd in their league and 14th in the state. It was disappointing though. Next week is their homecoming and senior night so it should be another fun evening. Then on Halloween they will have a play in game which we are keeping our fingers crossed they will win so they can go to state playoffs which would be pretty cool since this is his senior year. Saturdays during football are always quiet for me since it is always late when I get to bed Friday night. Went to a fundraiser tea at a local church today which was really fun. The high school choir sang some songs, one was in Japanese and so very beautiful. Then Father Peter played his guitar and sang some old songs which was also beautiful. Not much happened around here this afternoon/evening.

@ Dana - yep Bob is pretty special. When I'm not with him, I'm distracted by thinking about him. LOL Congrats on the weight loss and emoticon lose another 20 by your birthday if you stay focused!

Barbie, that Bob must be one heck of a guy because this is the longest I have EVER seen you not post. Lol, but I am SO HAPPY for you and glad that you have a special friend. :)

I am going to start doing the "Shred" tomorrow by Dr. Ian Smith. I posted a blog about it if anyone is interested. I am almost 10lbs down since September. I want to lose another 20 by my Birthday which is 100 days away. emoticon

Good evening friends. It was a cold, wet, dreary day here today. I pretty much didn't leave the house most of the day except to take Marv out. I am definitely not ready for this, but it seems the weather doesn't really care. LOL Marv and I have been enjoying our walks; now I will have to find an alternative way to exercise him for those days when I don't want to get soaked. It seems that Bob and I have taken our friendship to the next level and so far all is good and yes we do seem to be acting like teenagers, but that is okay. Sorry about not posting for the challenge lately, but as I said, my mind has been focused on something (someone) else. I have been in quite a lot of neck and back pain this week so have been taking it fairly easy. Last night I did do Kundalini yoga and was able to get in a short walk with Marv yesterday. Today was much less activity as I didn't sleep much last night. I am hoping to make it to QiGong tomorrow and Kundalini yoga in the evening. I didn't get as much housework done yesterday as I would have liked, but I did get laundry and vacuuming as well as working on reconciling the checkbook so that is better than nothing.

No worries about the challenge. Hopefully you'll be able to get back to it! =)

I really hope it's not a stress fracture either. We shall see.

Good morning friends! My cold is feeling a bit better however I've had this persistent pain in my foot and ankle now for about a month and I finally made an appointment for next week to see the doctor. I really, really hope that I do not have a stress fracture even though everything that I read as far as symptoms, etc. is pointing in that direction. I really, really hope not!

What's everyone's plans for the weekend? I don't have much. Probably just some relaxing and maybe out to see either "Gone Girl" or "The Judge" I think both of those movies look good!

Happy Friday!

Thank you Becky. I am sorry you've gotten a cold, but it sounds like you are being proactive so hopefully it will be short-lived. I am on my clear liquid diet since noon yesterday so not much exercise for me this week either. I have my procedure tomorrow so hopefully by Friday I will be feeling great and will be able to go for a walk on the beach with my dog.

Dana - good luck studying for your exams!

Me - well I've gotten a darn cold this week so I'm a little under the weather but I'm drinking plenty of fluid, getting some vitamin C and hoping that I'm better by the weekend so that I can exercise again. emoticon

Thank you Dana. It is just a beautiful piece of Myrtlewood and he carved Barbara from Bob Your Chum and a Bible verse in it. I did go to his house yesterday. He owns 120 acres and he drove me all over it and showed me his house that he built himself. He barbecued hamburgers for dinner and we chatted a lot. I am not sure where this relationship is going but that is okay and we still enjoy just being together and chatting. I have never had a guy friend before and I am enjoying it. I hope you get your exam behind you and things calm down some. I sure understand about the paperwork. I worked as a legal assistant/secretary for 40 years and that is all paperwork.

Becky, I hope you got your sleep, rest and exercise in so far this week. Yes sleep is definitely very important and a must!

Barbara, Did you go over your friend's house? What did he carve for you out of wood? That sounds so sweet and I am so glad that you have someone to spend time with. Companionship is something that I have grown to understand a lot more as I get older. I finally understand what my Mom has been telling me all these years. :0)

I am doing alright. Just studying away for this exam and trying to remain sane with this job! I love my job, but the productivity really can get to me at times. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the paperwork that comes with it!

Good evening friends. I meant to get in the chat room last night, but I ended up getting home too late. My friend, Paula, and her husband have a group of friends that get together on occasion and she had been going to invite me to join the group. Well, last night was the night. Paula and her husband had everyone over for dinner at her house. She invited our friend, Bob, too. I think there were about 12 people all together and it was so much fun. We laughed so much my tummy was hurting. Bob lost his wife about a year ago and yesterday was his birthday so it was really good to be able to spend it with him and bring some laughter into his life. I've never had a guy friend before, but we really enjoy each other's company and are doing quite a few things together as friends. When we got back to my house he gave me a reverse birthday gift, a piece of wood he had carved. It was very beautiful. Tomorrow he invited me to come out to his property. He has some acreage and he built his house and he's very proud of it. It should be a beautiful day. Today after church my grandson came over and we worked in the yard and then went out to dinner and got his vehicle washed. After he left it was time for youth church which I have been helping with. So I didn't get much accomplished this weekend, but I had a lot of fun. Tomorrow will be another fun but unaccomplished day. LOL Then I will be house bound for a few days because I will be doing the prep for my colonoscopy on Thursday. Guess that will give me time to get caught up on things.

Hi Barbie!!! Great job on your loss at WW this week!! emoticon

I got up this morning and did a quick 14 minute pilates workout. It felt so good. I really wish I could make myself get up early every day to so a little workout. I should start trying to do this more. emoticon

emoticon Elaine. Glad to have you on the team. I have to remember to read your blog as I keep looking for smoothie recipes.

I had a 2.2 loss at my WW weigh in this morning. I was happy because that was 0.8 more than I gained last week. I didn't make it to aqua zumba tonight as my friend didn't show up and then it was too late to go. I think it was a good thing though because my back and head have been hurting so I probably needed a break. My friend somehow mysteriously hurt her ankle. She doesn't even know how she did it. Tomorrow will be another long day as the football game is out of town.

Hi Elaine! It's great to "meet" you! I've been on SP since 2008 too. I've struggled at times but recently also feel like I've got my niche carved out! It feels good doesn't it?

I LOVE smoothies! I'm off now to read your blog. emoticon

Good Morning! I am a newbie to the team and just feeling my way around right now.

I have been on Sparks for many years but finally getting it in my head what I need to do to get the job done so to speak. This journey/process has been a long one but I am learning.

It is Thirsty Thursday so I started my morning off with a green smoothie. I blogged about a new recipe I tried this morning and the taste. I am also getting outside for a run with my best friend. It is getting cold here in Minnesota though so we will have to run fast to stay warm. LOL!

Have a great day!
