We call them cat tree's down here Synn, and if you google it you can find some great places to get them from, or even a template so you can make your own!

I think the one we bought for our kitty was labeled a "kitty gym..." It has the standard cubby-hole for him to hide in, plus a platform to sleep on, a tunnel to climb through that has a little hangie-toy thing on it, and a scratching post.

We got it at Catsplay.com...although they are pretty expensive there. They have a bunch of cool toys for cats there that I have never seen in stores so I am gonna take another look for Christmas cat gifts...there are over 20 cats in our extended family, so I am making little cat "grab bags" with catnip, toys, treats and such this year.

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot eat...

I still haven't found anything that I'm overly excited about, as gifts for the cats.

PLus I have the garage cats too, so I'll probably get them some super yummy treats, which they've NEVER had before.

I'd like to get them a new 'thing' for the indoor cats. And by thing I mean those things that are covered in carpet and they can sleep and play on them. Is there an OFFICIAL name for these things? LOL

-Synn

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas.

This year my cats are getting a new cat condo jungle gym sort of thing. We are moving into a new house soon and getting them a new place to scratch on that isn't the new furniture will be great! Probably get some of those little stockings too that have the little bell toys. Cat nip makes them really nutty so I might skip on that.

My favorite scene at Christmas time is all 3 of my cats all curled up under the tree. Since they don't all get along, I consider it their present to me. It's the season of Peace and Joy.

Thankfully despite the cats, I am able to have a full size tree, but I do artificial since I don't want to give them a reason to get the desire to "climb" a real tree. I don't hang any breakable ornaments towards the bottom and the ones that I do hang lower have reinforced hooks. I basically take the ornament hook and bend it so that the ornament can't "fall" off. I bend it on the ornament itself, and then on the tree branch. In order to get them off I have to physically un-bend them from the tree. So far it's worked well.

Of course I get the occasional cat who decides to chew on the branches. We keep the water bottle around to spray them when they do that.

I also have a BEAUTIFUL red velvet tree skirt that is COVERED in cat hair!!! I think I gave up on it last year and just packed it up with the hair all over it. I'll have to start early trying to get all the hair off it! I may go look for a new one that is slippery material like taffeta or something.

My girls are excited for the Christmas season. Over the weekend I brought all my boxes of Christmas stuff up from the basesment and the kitties were climbing all over everything! They LOVE when I pull out all the decorations. They hide in the boxes and jump out at me. I also have lots of fake holly and garland that they hide in. They pretend they are in the jungle and peek out at me from the piles. It's really funny. We're going to start pulling everything out of the boxes tonight. Fun!!

We give presents too! Ever since I was a kid I would always take the cat treats and wrap them loose in wrapping paper. I made a little treat packet for each of our cats and they'd open them on Christmas morning. It was my favorite part of the day! Of course we'd always get the cat who'd sneak under the tree on Christmas eve and open some of them early! One year my cat opened hers early and when I went to check which one it was... it was hers! It had her name on it. We had 10 cats at the time so of course I thought my cat was a genius! ha ha.

I still wrap treats for my girls.

Also, Merrick brand gourmet canned cat food (can be found in pet specialty stores) has a canned food called "Thanksgiving Day Dinner" which is what my girls had this year. It's actually really good food with all natural ingreedients. There are even cranberries in it!!

My cats always get Christmas presents. This year they are getting a new scratching post. Since Chewy quit playing with toys I buy him fancy treats at the pet shop and a fancy dinner. Haley gets new toys and the fancy dinner. She always manages to get some of Chewy's treats too. No stockings I just have a small tree. Haley isn't to interested in it but Chewy still likes to attack it.

I buy gifts for my furry babies, too! And for my daughter's kitties. And sometimes my kitties have been known to buy me gifts -- with a little help from my dear hubby, of course. It's fun.

Mystymaine, we have started having a smaller tree, too, since our kids are gone and we're living in a smaller place. We bought a small fiber optic tree and no matter where we put it, our mischievous little stinkers find a way to get to it. They love to bat at the moving lights, chew on the plastic branches and eat the ornaments. So big tree or little tree, our kitties think it's their very own play toy.

Ok, yes, I admit, I buy my cats gifts. And, my cats give my brother's cat gifts, and his cat gives my cats gifts. Just as if they were real children, which of course, to me, they are!!

Yup! We buy them little mice (toys) catnip, and anything that looks fun to play with. We put catnip on the new toys before we wrap them(loosly). It is fun to watch them "open" their prezzies!

Robyn,

Like you, my cats also get a 'feast'. It's still cat food but I buy them that TurDuckin Gourmet food.

And they get gifts too!!

I just looked at the calendar and realized that it's November 24th.

One month till Christmas.

Speaking of which, do you buy your cats Christmas gifts?

If so, what do you get them?
